@RPiAwesomeness here it is:
Feb 19, 2014 04:33
I think I can do that. If not, I'm fairly certain there's a way someone can.
Feb 19, 2014 04:32
@RPiAwesomeness need me to merge your accounts?
Feb 18, 2014 17:55
Unlike a site like SO, they are both useful questions since a Raspberry Pi is about experimentation as much as it is practical usage
Feb 18, 2014 17:54
I love that we get both questions like "Can I do X" and "SHOULD I do X." It's kind of exactly what I was hoping for out of an RPi.SE

Q: Crypto/Virtual currency miner?

user12810I am wondering if I can use few Raspberry Pi's in a stack in order to mine crypto currencies. It seems there are two types of currencies: Ones for which a CPU is powerful enough for mining (few, very few of them) and Ones that need GPU power I want to mine the second type, because they are m...

@syb0rg grep is something I need to get better at. Do you have a guide or something somewhere that you used and like?
Dec 25, 2013 18:38
@syb0rg Nice! What kind of stuff did you use them for specifically on the Pi?
Dec 25, 2013 17:53
@syb0rg What do you mean by learning how to use a bash interface? Was it first-time command line stuff? Write any scripts?
Dec 25, 2013 05:33
@syb0rg Sure, I can do that
Dec 23, 2013 16:23
Alrighty, folks: what was the FIRST thing you did when you got your Raspberry Pi up and running? I threw a web server on mine

er just "Raspberry Pi Web Servers"
Dec 16, 2013 21:45
No ideas! Maybe something broad like "Running a web server on your raspberry pi" to start?

Q: What should our "topic of the week" be for next week?

jandjorgensenIn the interest of making the chat room a more popular place to talk, we're going to start having a topic of the week as suggested in another meta question. While other topics will still be discussed, topic of the week will serve as sort of an ice breaker. What should our first topic be for nex...

Dec 16, 2013 21:44
Probably a weekly topic
Dec 9, 2013 06:32
@syb0rg if that answer gets converted to wiki, just ping me
Nov 21, 2013 19:02
No problem--to be completely honest when I first proposed office hours I didn't know about the events feature.
Nov 21, 2013 19:00
@SteveRobillard There wasn't any decision on times. Basically just whenever you feel like it/have a time you'll know you can be available make an event. All the mods aren't required to be here, just whoever made the event
Nov 21, 2013 18:59
Also (for anyone who shows up) if you haven't already check out the blog info and speak up if you're interested in writing, editing, etc
Nov 21, 2013 18:58
No problem!
Nov 21, 2013 18:57
Has everyone voted on hats yet?
Nov 21, 2013 18:56
Howdy, friends!

Nov 20, 2013 23:28
Not sure, maybe try here:
Nov 20, 2013 20:02
I closed it for now--if you'd like it reopened you should edit it to specify why it is raspberry pi-unique (or ask on another SE site)
Nov 20, 2013 20:00
@Loko Hmm. I'm not sure that's a Raspberry Pi question
Nov 20, 2013 18:41
@Loko I assume the answer you got was helpful?

A: Timespan of the Beta period

jandjorgensenUltimately the decision is made by the Stack Exchange community team, though here's a little information. It can, theoretically stay in beta indefinitely if there is not enough growth to promote it, but not enough 'petering out' to close it. Essentially, growth is what determines whether a site...

@Jivings Basically when you know you'll have a set time to have "office hours," you can just make an event
Nov 2, 2013 18:58
@Jivings Great to have you back! I'm glad your vacation coincided with me ramping up my activity.
Oct 24, 2013 19:13
Those are really cool.
Oct 24, 2013 19:10
@OliverSalzburg Link to the kickstarter? I'm kind of a card nut from my magic days
Oct 24, 2013 19:09
@OliverSalzburg Yeah, my "case" for it is actually a playing card box with holes cut for connections and SD card
Oct 24, 2013 19:08
I think it will fit in a card deck protector without an SD card in it
Oct 24, 2013 19:08
I think it's a practical one
Oct 24, 2013 18:58
@SteveRobillard There's a good chance we will. I'm not super concerned with every single office hours being brimming with people, just recent stuff made me realize it may be a good idea to have some times when people know we will be here.
Oct 24, 2013 02:55
@StackExchange Just a note in case anyone shows up here late tonight--I was 12 hours off when I set the time. Office hours are tomorrow during the day.
Oct 22, 2013 17:35
Oh, and (hopefully) finally, I want to note that closing a question for being a duplicate is not a reprimand. In fact, it's a useful feature that is meant to point both you and future users to the previous question.
Oct 22, 2013 17:33
The best thing for future users that happen upon your question is to be linked back to the previous question where they will find their answer.
Oct 22, 2013 17:33
Sometimes you may not get the answer you're looking for. We're looking to be a useful site to current and future users. If the best answer to "Is there any use to water cool a raspberry pi" is "No, temperature is not a limiting factor" and it's been covered in "Is it possible to immersively cool a device," then the question is essentially a duplicate.
Oct 22, 2013 17:31
From "How to Ask"
"Keep an open mind

The answer to your question may not always be the one you wanted, but that doesn’t mean it is wrong. A conclusive answer isn’t always possible. When in doubt, ask people to cite their sources, or to explain how/where they learned something. Even if we don’t agree with you, or tell you exactly what you wanted to hear, remember: we’re just trying to help."
Oct 22, 2013 17:29
Essentially, the way we viewed your question is it's already been answered. Essentially, the answer is "There's no point to water cooling a Raspberry Pi." The temperature is not a limiting factor, so cooling is not important if you'd like to overclock. How to overclock a device is covered in other questions, though it's also not what you seemed to be asking.

Q: Is it possible to immersively cool a device?

winwaedWith reference to recent questions about overclocking (ie. What are the overclocking capabilities? ), is it possible to immersively cool the Raspi? Presumably such a system would have to rely on finding a coolant that is non-toxic, non-conducting, and cheap. There's also the physics of boiling...
