It would be great if you guys explain - what should be the right way of salary discussion (with examples) rather than just saying what I'm doing is entirely wrong.
Jun 29, 2021 19:40
@GregoryCurrie and Juliana so, what should I do then? Please advice. I understand that whatever I'm telling the HRs (whether 9 or 14 or 20) is wrong according to you guys. But what is the solution? How should I approach the salary discussion round according to you guys?
Jun 29, 2021 19:40
@GregoryCurrie but my current salary is also 9. So, if I straightaway ask 20 from 9, then it will be much more difficult to get than 20 from 14.

@PhilipKendall I agree that my market standard of 20 LPA is incorrect but to get an offer of 20 LPA, I need to convince the company to give me 20 LPA. So, how should I do that especially in the salary negotiation round? I know that they can give me 17 LPA, but I want them to add 3 LPA extra. So, how should I communicate this cleverly and counter the 5 points which I have mentioned in the question?
Jun 29, 2021 19:40
@JulianaKarasawaSouza I got an offer of 14 LPA from company A and I'm using this to get an offer of 20 LPA from company B.

Ok. But how I'll convince them? I'm kind of stuck on this part. Although to convince them, I say, along with the development part, I'm also experienced in mentoring the juniors, so, I bring a lot more on the table than the others.

Haha, I know I can get this reply from the HR. But that's why I'm asking the experts on this community on what should I say? (as I'm pretty naive in this salary negotiation thing).

hi everyone i need a help regarding interview preparation. Recently, I interviewed for Software Developer profile in a big product based company. Although many questions asked there were already given on Glassdoor and GeeksForGeeks. I prepared for them also but don't know why I forgot the concepts or approach for many questions. Then I analyzed what happened to me and I think that my problem solving approach is not good and it needs improvement. Here are the steps which I follow when solving a problem associated with DS and Algorithms or when preparing for interview:

Actually, I have no problem in mentoring him and allowing him subsequent time to learn. But the main problem is my CTO who has committed to the highest authority people about the delivery of project and whenever I try to tell CTO about this situation then he always replies that these excuses doesn't matter to me. Learning HTML and CSS is a matter of not more than 2-3 hours. I, myself, is looking to switch the job due to these unfavorable circumstances.

@Froopy because I think that people, on reading my question initially, were treating me as a misogynistic guy.

@SethR yes, I had always given him the time. Also, I told him that don't write the code until you understand the concept behind it. I gave him 2-3 websites from which he can understand the concept. But still the situation is same. If I give him a slightly difficult task to solve which he has to use his brain, he just gets frightened and gives up after 5-10 minutes.

@RuiFRibeiro if I let him fail, then surely he would learn slowly but the CTO would scold me 2x times because he had committed the project delivery date to his seniors. I feel like I am stuck in a difficult situation.

@MikeTheLiar No, he isn't getting paid for it. But I haven't assigned him the work which he has to do in office. My intention is to make him learn the basic concepts which will be beneficial for his present and future.

@MlleMei I am the Team Lead. But in actual, my work is to manage those 3 employees, divide the work to assign them the tasks, fix their issues and in parallel, to do another work, which my CTO assigns to me.

@ZachTurn no this wasn't known at the time of hiring. Even, I was in a similar situation like this. I only knew Java and C++ and then was put in Angular project

Evidence is that when I talked to him regarding these situations in the past, he said he understood but he keeps making the same mistakes again and again. If someone always implements your solution incorrectly and tells your boss that he has implemented it correctly but your solution was wrong, then what would you call it except blaming you?

@paparazzo I don't understand how this question is a duplicate of the one whose link you have provided. I think many community members on Stack Exchange are here just to downvote or close the question instead of understanding the OP's problem and providing a solution.

@Dan the CTO doesn't listen properly to Bob because he thinks that instead of investing his own time in the small issues faced by Bob, he could transfer the Bob issues directly to me.
