true
Feb 8, 2022 05:11
because foreign language speakers get it drilled into them?
Feb 8, 2022 05:10
until I figured it out
Feb 8, 2022 05:10
it's vs its
Feb 8, 2022 05:10
reminds me of the month where my friend bonked me every time I used the wrong it's
Feb 8, 2022 05:10
lol
Feb 8, 2022 05:06
or messing up words when speaking
Feb 8, 2022 05:06
typos
Feb 8, 2022 05:06
because I find most things native speakers get wrong are like
Feb 8, 2022 05:06
or what is idiomatic to say
Feb 8, 2022 05:06
more like stuff about what sounds right and what doesn't
Feb 8, 2022 05:06
mm
Feb 8, 2022 05:05
it's just really weird to be told you're wrong about your native language
Feb 8, 2022 05:05
lol
Feb 8, 2022 05:00
uh yeah I agree with this statement
Feb 8, 2022 04:57
I had the misconception that Kate was a mod ig
Feb 8, 2022 04:57
oh
Feb 8, 2022 04:55
"I'm just a native speaker trying to help"
Feb 8, 2022 04:55
"what do I even say"
Feb 8, 2022 04:55
and it's like
Feb 8, 2022 04:55
like while digging I found a comment asking me for a source that something was wrong
Feb 8, 2022 04:55
I think I just left because I had major imposter syndrome
Feb 8, 2022 04:54
I remmeber it was Kate
Feb 8, 2022 04:54
but it's sort of similar?
Feb 8, 2022 04:54
ell.stackexchange.com/questions/303965/… ok this isn't what I was talking about
Feb 8, 2022 04:49
let's see if I can find it
Feb 8, 2022 01:39
I think I left ELL shortly after... realized I don't actually know anything about english construction
Feb 8, 2022 01:39
lol
Feb 8, 2022 01:39
I remember posting an answer in ELL saying something like "this sounds awkward" and a mod commented "that sounds fine to me"
Feb 5, 2022 01:07
I was trying to write "If I had said そっか, would that have been better" (was talking to a japanese friend), and I wrote この場合、「そっか」を使ったのならいい?, but I'm kind of curious what other people think is the best way of saying this... specifically, should いい be in past tense? is なら best? is この場合 ok?

context: was talking and he corrected そうか to なるほど, then later said that そっか is more common than そうか, so I asked if そっか would've been fine
Feb 4, 2022 04:25
I feel like に is... ungrammatical, 結婚 usually takes と
Feb 4, 2022 04:25
use させた
Feb 4, 2022 03:19
what about ますから and ますけど and ますが
Feb 4, 2022 03:19
lol.. yikes
Feb 4, 2022 03:04
I'm rather use to ~ますが~ even though I think that's rather formal when speaking
Feb 4, 2022 03:04
Japanese classes I've taken are rather formal overall
Feb 4, 2022 03:03
@EddieKal is that particular thing more common in written japanese
Feb 4, 2022 02:58
presumably not
Feb 4, 2022 02:57
hm
Feb 4, 2022 02:57
also I wonder if the sentence is better with a ます ending before ので
Feb 4, 2022 02:56
@Chocolate is the んで in japanese.stackexchange.com/questions/93264/… this edit a shortening of ので ?
Feb 4, 2022 02:19
"you know what would be really funny"
Feb 4, 2022 02:19
like "yeah you know the system we have to make reading our language easier"
Feb 4, 2022 02:18
I want to meet the person who thought decorative furigana was a good idea
Feb 3, 2022 22:47
because of audio?
Feb 3, 2022 22:40
damn
Feb 3, 2022 22:27
like I don't want to have to download the whole repo
Feb 3, 2022 22:27
because thye're very... straightforward LOL
Feb 3, 2022 22:27
hm... I'm very tempted to just use literally any of the other three
Feb 3, 2022 22:25
the other links are very pog tho
