@JackDouglas I actually haven't used skype in a couple years, because we stopped using it at my job and I didn't use it much apart from that - sorry about that!
Jun 18, 2017 00:22
I'm really sorry it has taken this long
Jun 18, 2017 00:22
Hey I just hope there is still some interest among folks here, if the site really does start working as well as I hope
Jun 18, 2017 00:09
I wonder if there are things we can/should do to collaborate? @JackDouglas any thoughts?
Jun 18, 2017 00:08
err ooops @JackDouglas has built a solid alternative: dba.meta.stackexchange.com/questions/2686/…
Jun 18, 2017 00:08
Ha, I just saw that @jac

The front-end looks pretty much exactly the same, but the application tier has been completely rewritten. If you're curious, I have all of the code and configuration architecture for the new site up on github: github.com/jakefeasel/sqlfiddle3

Hello DBA friends! I have some big news about SQL Fiddle - I just rolled out a major new revamp of the system. I am hoping that this new version will be dramatically more reliable than the site has been. I could use your help though, to make sure everything is still working as expected. Thanks!

I've rolled out a major backend replacement for SQL Fiddle - hopefully it will be much faster and more stable from here on out. Let me know if you guys have any trouble

@MaxVernon I would love to support SQL Server 2014 - does anyone know anyone at Microsoft? I would need more VM resources
Nov 5, 2013 22:23
yeah, sounds like madness
Nov 5, 2013 22:23
Is ... is that a thing?
Nov 5, 2013 22:21
Heh sadly can't run SQL Server on Linux
Nov 5, 2013 22:20
could be
Nov 5, 2013 22:18
Sure. Anyhow, I've enabled 'optimize for ad hoc workloads'; thanks for the tips
Nov 5, 2013 22:17
first time I've had this particular problem
Nov 5, 2013 22:17
it's been on there for over a year now
Nov 5, 2013 22:16
yeah EC2
Nov 5, 2013 22:16
I couldn't even hardly RDP into the machine
Nov 5, 2013 22:16
Right it seemed to be a general OS problem
Nov 5, 2013 22:15
Well, it definitely isn't normal, even for me
Nov 5, 2013 22:08
Ah great
Nov 5, 2013 22:08
Is this a feature that can been turned on by default for all new databases? Or must it be flagged for each one?
Nov 5, 2013 22:03
I think @billinkc needs a SQL Fiddle link in there
Nov 5, 2013 22:02
He wrote the answer, not the question
Nov 5, 2013 22:02
@FreshPrinceOfSO What does upvoting the question do for @billinkc ?
Nov 5, 2013 22:00
@FreshPrinceOfSO ? Why?
Nov 5, 2013 21:59
Nope, I haven't. Not familiar with that option
Nov 5, 2013 21:48
?
Nov 5, 2013 21:48
Great folks we have here!
Nov 5, 2013 21:47
Thanks guys
Nov 5, 2013 21:47
Service seems to be restored
Nov 5, 2013 21:45
@FreshPrinceOfSO Thanks for the donation!
Nov 5, 2013 21:44
Most of my own shirts are from various conferences I've attended
Nov 5, 2013 21:43
I wish I had shirts
Nov 5, 2013 21:43
@FreshPrinceOfSO You get to follow my twitter account :)
Nov 5, 2013 21:40
I figure that if I am quite clear about the risks, if I get an email from some angry DB admin about how my site is hammering their database, I will have my ass covered :)
Nov 5, 2013 21:38
@FreshPrinceOfSO Sure!
Nov 5, 2013 21:38
@MikeFal well, in all honesty I've found a lot of smart people on SO. But I will make it very clear about the risks involved
Nov 5, 2013 21:35
A smart person would only connect to a back-up machine running outside their company's firewall
Nov 5, 2013 21:34
Sure, I will be up-front about the fact that anyone making use of this feature is completely responsible for the impact on their system
Nov 5, 2013 21:32
This will open up a lot more potential use cases, I think
Nov 5, 2013 21:32
I am planning on adding the option to connect to your own database server, rather than having to provide your schema ddl and run on my machines
Nov 5, 2013 21:31
btw I wonder what you all think of a feature I'm (slowly) working on....
Nov 5, 2013 21:30
It's an outage
Nov 5, 2013 21:30
Not at all. I wouldn't classify this as a complaint anyway
Nov 5, 2013 21:29
Well, no need to thank me @AaronBertrand - you guys keep me running! Thanks to you!
Nov 5, 2013 21:28
I think my vm needs a reboot
Nov 5, 2013 21:27
"They"
Nov 5, 2013 21:27
Looking at it now
