Can I just say, I love how this chat goes "N hour(s) later..."
Mar 6, 2018 03:32
@D.Hutchinson Though it's not what you asked, I think this question covers some topics that might be of help: interpersonal.stackexchange.com/questions/10831/…
Mar 5, 2018 14:27
Thank you, that'd be really helpful!
Mar 5, 2018 14:25
It does have some good points, though, which I'll keep in mind
Mar 5, 2018 14:25
@Tinkeringbell I appreciate the resource a lot and I'm reading through it, but it seems more of a "Option A vs. Option B" kind of stubbornness.
Mar 5, 2018 14:18
@Tinkeringbell Technically, the problem is with other people, but I think managing someone's stubbornness is an important skill to learn in such situations, which is why I tried focusing my question on how I should respond
Mar 5, 2018 14:15
Problem is, if I edit the question to remove the tech support example, it'll invalidate both answers
Mar 5, 2018 14:14
Root of the question is when you say you don't know how to do something, but people firmly believe you do
Mar 5, 2018 14:12
Make that two answers now
Mar 5, 2018 14:11
It's not so much about the close vote as it is about the misunderstanding. It seemed to transpire in the comments and the answer too
Mar 5, 2018 14:06
@ExtrovertedMainMan It seems like people are confusing my question for "how to reject tech support", which is very different from my intention with the question. I've edited it to clarify where I thought there might be misunderstanding, but I'd like to know how else I can edit it so that it's clearer. Should I just remove the "tech support" example altogether? I feel like that would make it too vague/broad

And I just checked in to see if there were any responses to my previous question, so see y'all in a few years
Mar 3, 2018 07:35
@LinuxBlanket Probably late for the subject but I went through a very similar experience to Ash's response. As for the current book subject, from about the end of last year to today, I've read 3 books and am almost done with the 4th. I only have about half an hour per day to read it at lunch break. I mean, I could read before bed, but I'm lazy

(on an unrelated note, this is my first time in chat so let me know if there's anything I should know)
Mar 2, 2018 20:15
Well, it also contains a "How do I deal with" in the title, which implies it's opinion-based
Mar 2, 2018 20:14
I was just going to ask about the question above. How on-topic is it? Especially considering it's asking a "how to convince [someone] of [something]", which to my knowledge is unclear as to topicality, but generally frowned upon

That's not to say they couldn't have left/forgotten it open. I've also seen Steam bug out in that it shows you in-game without the game being open.
