thanks, the linked answer is great! follow up question: let's assume I do reach out back to the business to notify them that I am aware of the issue but they respond by affirming that everything looks good on their side and nothing needs to be done. Would this change the situation?

ah yes, RMS, always forget about that.

is the 340V in 2. a typo? I'm pretty sure the nominal voltage for EU is 220/240, and I cant think of anything else that would warrant the number being different.

@SteveMelnikoff they are a very valid method in the UK due to the ubiquitous use of near-instant transfers. Most of the EU doesn't have that available, or if it is might be on the expensive side, making it worth it only if the value is particularly high.

FMEA. That's what you need.

Good answer, The only difference i would have done is to have a different naming for the builder solution, as I would expect a method named "train()" to actually do the training, and not just make an object that i can use to do that.I would call that function "getTrainer()" and then i can invoke "train()" on it to run.

Also, do not take "random" with a negative connotation. In this case I don't think it is used as "a stranger", but more in "one of the many coworkers, without any particular role or responsibility that makes them stand out"

One other factor that might have played into Taiwan dominating is the proximity with China, especially Hong Kong and the Shenzhen region. Taiwan is in a unique position to be close enough to the cheap manufacturing labor of China while also having the political landscape to allow the heavy investments needed for semiconductors to be safer. Think Apple, get the chip from TSMC and then move them quickly to Foxconn for cheap assembly. It would definitely be less convenient if they had to move from Thailand or Korea, since those are further away.

Article is suspicious, can't really find anything else referring to it. It does talk about a mandatory tip, which is really an oxymoron imo.

Hi. Out of curiosity, did they tell you to use tools such as TeamViewer or VMWare Horizon to access the tools you need to work with?

Honestly, I think that, junior or senior should not be differentiated on the basic knowledge, but on the experience and the ability to take that knowledge and apply it. One thing is lacking the experience to make an informed decision based on the abstract concepts required, which given how thin the difference is getting in the languages is not an easy task, but having no clue of the difference between the two is something that noone above internship-during-studies level should be.

@Tim Seems like he was about right with the time estimate then xD

@perenniallydisappointed the last paragraph fills that I think. The way is to take out of the discussion everything that is not strictly needed for the cooperation, and put everything else written down and enforced during reviews and with tools.

@Stef wear problem can be solved by having FTS to write the passphrase from memory when he travel back. Only the person goes back and forward in time, the paper just goes forward. And if he writes the answer before posing the question, chances of mind-readers breaking the trick is less, since you cannot really think to the answer to a question you haven't been posed yet.

When I hear about time travel in a story, the first thing that comes to mind to me is: "how does the working copes with the grandpa paradox?" Assuring you have a mechanism to cope with continuity paradoxes is essential to have a good logic structure with time travel. How do you cope with the grandpa paradox?

I have seen this issues rise a lot about products from the Facebook family. Could it be that Facebook is also internally analysing private text messages from its products (Messenger, Instagram, Whatsapp) to gather data for better targeted ads? It would be virtually impossible to be discovered, easier to set up than voice recognition, and might give one more place to have mentioned something you haven't searched (but maybe asked someone in private).

@JBentley I have to side with Dan with the declaration, it costs nothing and I see no reason to not state it plainly before. There is probably no legal or ethical (to me) obligation to do so, but it doesn't harm.

@RonJohn never said I am in Germany lol. I am actually in Italy. But I think it applies the same, no credit score that I have heard of.

I'm sure my processes, a single person without a dedicated finance dept with leverage power against banks, is faster in moving 500€. Not sure about how fast their processes go, but I'm pretty sure they could go faster.

Like, I can see how not having a continuous flow of money out of the bank can benefit you from in cases where the money goes out and in, but I still think the burden of refunding the money timely and effectively is not on you, but on the other party. I see how a cc would make handling everything in this situation easier, but still it is not an excuse for banks or airlines to not refund as quickly as they can.

That is something I have been reading about a lot lately, but still can't get my head around it.

@keithRozario remotely controlling audio/video using a user installed app with the right permissions is no more than a functionality, I mean if the app is programmed to start recording when it receives a certain HTTP request how could Apple block that? The system has no way of knowing how malicious such interaction is in a reliable way.

I have also attended an Italian university but at mine lectures were regularly scheduled from 9AM to 6PM, never later. I would consider normal up to 7PM probably, but for lectures scheduled around 8-9PM they seem to be an exception around special cases, to me.

@OakSecurity I agree you should always be able to open your own phone, that's why I was not considering social (warrant) or physical (gun or finger) constriction a factor to keep in consideration. My assumption was that the attacker can have physical access to the device but no cooperation from you and with that assumption, I can't really see how a fingerprint is worse than a password.
Oct 23, 2019 15:12
@OakSecurity anyone with a gun can do that even with the strongest password.
Oct 23, 2019 15:12
Is there a reason as to why fingerprint is such a threat as to be disabled? I can see PIN as a smaller set of options, therefore weaker than password, and face as a generally weaker algorithm, but fingerprint seems to be pretty reliable to me, enough for banks to rely on them.

If I restrict strictly to the work task, it would surely benefit no one. And that would be the whole point, too.
