The ducks gather around the fire in, wide-eyed, silent amazement.

Wow! It sounds like you are making really great progress with this!

@BigBen I resemble that remark

Sounds to be free for you.

@Feeds "I made these seeds myself", that sentence used to be as absurd as planting volcano seeds...
Nov 1, 2022 21:39
LoL, that page is hilarious
Oct 31, 2022 17:01
Maybe logstash could help! I know that the applications I am talking about are designed to trace a connection across the network so you can see the related logs from each system the connection passed through (Firewall, switch, proxy, endpoint)
Oct 31, 2022 16:48
Yeah, it doesn't have to be logs. The data can be whatever
Oct 31, 2022 16:46
I've seen many software built on ELK stack for searchable logs. It's a standard deployment
Oct 31, 2022 16:45
@Hosch250 elastic search is open source, so it's free if you host it. You would only pay if you wanted to use their cloud backend. github.com/elastic/elasticsearch

@Blackhawk Yes, this runs on 64-bit Excel. It correctly returned the number of dimensions.

@SimonForsberg I have an internal NuGet server where I am currently trying to make a company-wide set of organized code libraries. It seems that everyone has these generic tools they put in some toolbox that they copy to each project. The biggest hurdle seems to be organization and naming. #NamingIsHard because if people don't know about it they are going to write their own version of your tool
Oct 28, 2022 00:51
@MathieuGuindon This is my life
Sep 28, 2022 23:54
@PrateekMourya, what language are you using?
Sep 27, 2022 15:19
@MathieuGuindon if there is server side tooling missing you can contact your host (GoDaddy) and tell them what you need. Update framework, install .NET6, etc. If they don't give you shell access then they have to help you. Otherwise, just move to a host who gives you shell access.
Sep 26, 2022 15:26
@MathieuGuindon, when the day comes that RD2 is deprecated and RD3 is the main project then you could move RD2 to it's own branch. Then merge in the entire RD3 codebase into the main RD repo using --allow-unrelated-histories. It's not pretty but it would allow you to have this obvious shift in the history where 3 comes in.
Aug 29, 2022 21:58
ok, let's use the better one then
Aug 29, 2022 21:58
lol
Aug 29, 2022 21:58
erf, then which is shipped in release?
Aug 29, 2022 21:58
I would be concerned that the outputs wouldn't be identical
Aug 29, 2022 21:57
two methods, two points of failure
Aug 29, 2022 21:57
Why? Shouldn't there be only one way so that it works the same on every system?
Aug 29, 2022 21:53
could we run tlbexp twice? with the /Win32 and /Win64 flags to generate two tlbs?
Aug 29, 2022 21:51
So why are we doing that? What is the end goal?
Aug 29, 2022 21:49
(I don't know anything about tlbs)
Aug 29, 2022 21:49
Could we use twinBasic to generate the tlb to avoid this mess?
Aug 29, 2022 21:47
"olewoo itself is a C++ DLL so it is 32-bit only but because it's only used as part of the build and not the actual deployment, it should not prevent you from building 64-bit Rubberduck that can be consumed by 64-bit Excel. "
Aug 29, 2022 21:45
@mansellan seems to know a thing or two
Aug 29, 2022 21:45
If you search this very chat you will find many people talking about it. It seems that Mat forgot what it does.
Aug 29, 2022 21:43
for sure. That is a strange thing that maybe isn't necessary
Aug 29, 2022 21:42
We do need to update to fw4.8 in order to update our dependencies.
Aug 29, 2022 21:42
I gave up trying to get it to build in VS2022. I think I broke it much worse in the process
Aug 29, 2022 18:03
and I see your issue of the same
Aug 29, 2022 18:01

I'm struggling to build next as it is

Q: What is the path for tblexp in a .NET core project?

jsparkesI'm trying to export a TLB file for a F# DLL. For .NET Framework up to 4.8 the following custom build command works: <Target Name="PostBuild" AfterTargets="PostBuildEvent"> <Exec Command=""$(TargetFrameworkSDKToolsDirectory)\tlbexp" /verbose "$(TargetPath)"" /> <...

Aug 29, 2022 17:38
looks like we need this: github.com/dspace-group/dscom
Aug 29, 2022 17:31
oh sure, I'm just saying you don't have to run RubberDuck on those computers. Or you can use an old version of RD if you really want to
Aug 29, 2022 17:30
Your dev system should be current even if you deploy your projects to legacy boxen
Aug 29, 2022 17:30
Plus, even if you have a vista legacy system, don't do software development on it
Aug 29, 2022 17:29
If you're running vista... you should have gone to 7 long ago. I understand if some people are still running 7 but I can't have sympathy for vista.
Aug 29, 2022 17:28
due to 7 being out of support, why would we support vista?
Aug 29, 2022 17:27
moving to 4.8 should be easy if there are no dependency conflicts
Aug 29, 2022 17:26
right, but I always start by moving to 4.8 before jumping to 6
Aug 29, 2022 17:26
Why can't we target 4.8?
Aug 29, 2022 17:22
Is there an earlier error?
Aug 29, 2022 17:22
Does that DLL exist?
