They had an explanation for why they didn't use something else. Basically they couldn't get as much performance if they used an existing language.

I just wasted a good hour of time trying to figure out why calling glBufferData somehow magically overwrote a buffer that wasn't even bound. As it turned out, I accidentally typed Vao instead of Vbo somewhere.

I just realized that base 14 is basically just as illogical as base 10. Base 10: Can be evenly divided by 2, and a prime number (5). Base 14: Can be evenly divided by 2, and a prime number (7). Neither of them are squares of integers.
