Do you know who is doing the pranks?

I strongly disagree with the historical excursus of this answer. That the electoral college was created as a check-and-balance for rural areas to avoid being "dominated" by urban ones is pretty baseless.

What's your role regarding this application? Do you have to further develop/ maintain it or what? Did the management ask you for a risk assessment? I think you should approach your management, but how to do so depends on what's your role.

Do you have an HR department? It's pretty strange it is the boss' secretary to deliver such a message. Was it intended to be an official warning or what?

Kind of disagree about multitasking being a myth, but it mostly depends on how you define it. There are a lot of people that jump between vastly different work streams and have the ability to keep eyes and significantly contribute on all of them. I've seen a lot of people coding during meetings while actively participating to it.

You go into the details by asking about the job, not by communicating your personal situation. You seem to imply that it's on the employee to check whether safety measures are taken and also should have the proper background to know what is dangerous in which circumstance.
Apr 6, 2022 07:48
@MadScientist Do you really think that it's the employee who should verify whether the proper safety measures are taken? The employees might know the dangers but definitely don't have to. Who has to know potential dangers is the employer and must communicate them.
Apr 6, 2022 07:03
Following your logic, any employee should tell the employer any conditions they have, just because the workplace might be dangerous. If the workplace is dangerous for someone, it's of course the employer that must communicate it to someone who might possibly work there.
Apr 6, 2022 07:00
@MadScientist No, it's not and any announcement is not due by any means. The entrance to any lab, if restricted, should be specifically communicated. If that didn't happen in your case, it was a mismanagement from the employer and likely a safety breach. Of course, if the employer communicates the restrictions and an employee after the communications gets pregnant and doesn't say anything, it's on her; but the first communication is on the employer.

@MadScientist In most EU countries, it's regulated by law if a work environment is allowed to pregnant women and if it's not, the employer has the obligation to inform the employee. It's not the other way around. You go to jail if you work with some chemicals and let pregnant women enter the lab. I know it might be strange for some non-EU backgrounds, but in EU workers are really protected by law and it's not on them to discover whether they risk their health by going to the workplace.

@MadScientist That's not how things work. It's on the employer to ask for some information and to provide the legal reasons backing that request (which might be illegal in general, but allowed in some circumstances). Employee doesn't proactively share that information. If something bad happens, it's on the employer of course.

Would this be your first job? Do you have other offers in sight?

Do you guys share the same manager?

Just for curiosity, why did you ask the item back when basically every answer to the other question suggested to let them keep it?

How do you react when people don't meet what you consider the bare minimum? I think that it's relevant for formulating an answer and you should mention it in the question. Maybe share a real example of what you have said to a team member that didn't do what you expected and which were the consequences.

Could you automate your task? It would be an interesting side project, you might learn something, leave something valuable to the company and save yourself a lot of time.

I'm wondering why they didn't ask to relinquish also your name to them for the exact same reasons.
