"getting into cannon range for the typhoons means flying through the German fighter formation" I dunno they could ascend and come at them from above, and then come from behind. The typhoon can go up to a max speed of 2125kph, and go to a max altitude of 65000 ft and could probably safely outrun and outclimb anything the turned off the bombing run before THEY could get into cannon range (which is about half or less of the typhoon iirc) But I do really like this answer. They'd still be hard pressed to take down all of them

@sf02 if they told me they saw my linkedin profile when researching the company I work for, no I wouldn't find that weird. That is a primary reason WHY I have a linkedin profile.

Are the other "communities" also "dozens of millenia" more advanced than you in all ways, or just FTL?

@TheMattbat999 and Dayton. He obviously means HARNESSED electricity, not that it doesn't exist in the universe.

@MartinArgerami well, because formality emphasizes FORM over content. Yes, they mean the same thing. But the form is different. Subjectively I take it as less formal. To me, formal usually means longer/more. More articles of clothing (button-up, tie, suit jacket, slacks) is more formal than less (the same minus the suit jacket). Longer forms of words more formal than less (can not > can't). Formality seems to be mostly about pomp, and failing to spell out the entire word appeals to the person ego slightly less. Like "wow, prof? Don't you know who I am?"
Mar 29, 2019 20:51
@MartinArgerami I agree it is formal, but not "as formal as can be." In my experience, spelling out the entire word would be more formal.

Mar 27, 2019 12:50
@bukwyrm the fact that you used the word survived makes me question your conclusion. I survived a snakebite as a child, but I dunno if i'd call it safe. Did something negative happen to you to make you use "survived"?

@mattdm relevant: "Feliformia is a suborder within the order Carnivora consisting of "cat-like" carnivorans, including cats, hyenas, mongooses, civets, and related taxa." -wikipedia

@MartinSchröder germany itself refers to it as internal colonization, why do you not?

Feb 26, 2019 19:38
@Taemyr you are simply describing inertia. That ignores the important part that the robot does not start in motion. It needs to accelerate then decelerate.

Feb 25, 2019 00:26
@IllusiveBrian that is true, but you only recover the resources AFTERWARDS iirc. So it may still be tough going for a bit.

Feb 22, 2019 03:06
@Sentinel ok, thanks. Good to know. It may be worth it just to try. My contract is for work in one field, and I considered using upwork to break into another. So honestly, at this point, experience is what I'm after, and if I get stiffed on money, it's not a biggie.
Feb 22, 2019 03:06
Wow, thanks for the response. I never knew that. I would be breaking a contract I have by using upwork I guess, so good thing I know now.
Feb 22, 2019 03:06
Do you mean simply screenshots, or actually installing screenshotting software? (which takes a screenshot automatically every x minutes and automatically sends it out). And what about keylogging software, which was the other suggestion from the clients.

Can you explain how "most activists" are working towards 1? Things like using electric cars instead of gas, solar instead of coal, etc. would all be option 2, right? Or is that what you're talking about for 1. Great answer though!

Feb 21, 2019 00:21
@FranckDernoncourt but is it an american tradition? I would be just as in a lot of countries. It would be more regular corruption than the state sanctioned corruption, but still.

Feb 20, 2019 03:02
@einpoklum afaik everyone except frodo (at first) seems to be susceptable though, so that's not saying much

@Valorum so anyone who eats pork? They're as intelligent as a 2 year old, which is FAIRLY intelligent. Apart from language, they are capable of discourse.. my friends pig can respond to questions by nodding or shaking its head. That's apparantly not as amazing as I first though, but rather common according to him

Feb 15, 2019 13:49
@JohnVandivier did you mean not REGISTERED as a copyright? Because merely creating it automatically makes it copyrighted. You can always allow people to use the rights afforded to the copyright owner (open source, creative commons, etc), but even then, the copyright still exists

Feb 12, 2019 14:06
@MasonWheeler I agree with your point that there is an extreme that can be detrimental, but i disagree that the takeaway is that any homework whatsoever is bad. Balance is important for the reasons you point out. None of the three US schools I went to (elementary and middle school were at the same place) gave out too much homework, nor did I perceive any of it as useless (I mean, I still remember what the worksheets taught me, now 10 years later, which is the point), but maybe I was just lucky.
Feb 12, 2019 14:06
A similar question to this, with the same answer, would be "what is the point of homework? Only the teacher reads it."

@svavil OP said "Charlie explicitly blamed this on the fasting" so we ARE sure he uses it as an excuse.

Jan 19, 2019 09:18
@chaslyfromUK Newton's laws of physics are still right though. We just have a more ACCURATE system now. For things that don't need the precision, you can still absolutely use Newtonian physics mathematically (to clarify: some of the proposed reasons that the math is that way may be wrong, but the math itself is right).

@GendoIkari correct he was asking about what happens when you stack riot (which means he is also asking about stacking haste). Seems a natural extension to discuss the nature of the stacking. But seriously, we need to STOP DISCUSSING IN COMMENTS, and leave it for the mods. Start a meta if you want to talk about this, but I'm done. Have a good one, and thanks for being kind :) and thank you Arthur too!
Jan 16, 2019 17:29
@Arthur mods decide what is relevant or not. I was trying to stop this conversation
Jan 16, 2019 17:29
@GendoIkari it goes over that haste is redundant, but not what that means. Without 112.10b, the redundant part is kind of meaningless. This, without 112.10b, I would say this answer is only half complete
Jan 16, 2019 17:29
@GendoIkari I disagree. To me this highly relevant. How can you address the answer of what stacking riot does without discussing what happens when you stack haste? But luckily this answer was written by a mod, so let's just let him decide
Jan 16, 2019 17:29
@murgatroid99 can you add that to your answer?
Jan 16, 2019 17:29
@Arthur redundancy means, to me, that it would need two remove hastes. Because that's how redundancy works in real life. Two sensors so if the first one is damaged, you have a backup. That's the entire point of redundancy in my mind. So the use of the word redundancy explicitly tells me they have two instances of haste, and a remove haste would only remove one. But all this is conjecture without a ruling :) we'll just have to wait for the updated rules to know for sure

@Adamant I have. About 8 times now. It has powers yes. So do MANY aliens in the show. Does that mean it is actually the devil, and all the stories about the apple in eden and whatnot are automatically true? The doctor says no. Just another alien with powers. Been there seen that, why would that mean that God and everything in the bible are suddenly real. Makes more sense that the stories (which the doctor doesn't believe in) were based on truth, then warped and changed over time to something different. The doctor doesn't believe that something different. He doesn't believe the bible.
Nov 27, 2018 18:05
@Adamant oh. You don't understand the difference between.... say, a guy with a beard calling himself jesus, and the actual son of God coming to earth to solve our mortal sins? Or between the actual area called the Bermuda triangle, and the mystical powers people attribute to it? There are two levels of belief for all these things. The doctor has the lower level of belief, not the higher. It is VERY simple, and not silly at all. Just logical. But comments aren't for discussion, so bye.
Nov 27, 2018 18:05
@Adamant exactly! You believe in the stacked rocks, not the mystical background. It's really simple to understand is it? Just took you a minute. Well, cheers.
Nov 27, 2018 18:05
@Adamant magic becomes science with discovery. The doctor discovered the truth. This seems very logical to me. I would also say I don't believe in the devil, just a big beast that people call the devil. I don't believe the stories about what happened or his origins, just his existence.

Oct 19, 2018 03:42
@marcelm I'm not disputing it, but it does sound crazy to me. Does it mean you can take every day of the year off for being sick, and be paid? I get 5 sick days a year...

Oct 19, 2018 03:41
@ZachLipton it can be illegal to not pay for work UNLESS both parties agree to it beforehand. The US sadly still considers "exposure" and "experience" to be payment on some cases. Just ask any musician playing shows at clubs or a boom op on a non-union film. Of course you are right that this is probably not one of those cases.
Oct 19, 2018 03:41
@Bebs it is definitely not illegal to do work for free in the US, I don't know about France though. It's irrelevant whether the company you do the free work for makes money or not. The government only taxes those that make the money.

Oct 18, 2018 16:07
@StephenG every one I've been to (probably a couple dozen over three companies) has done wonders in terms of team building. Just different experiences I guess.

Oct 1, 2018 06:24
@alephzero I know someone who did that. He got blacklisted and couldn't find another job in the field (audio engineering) despite trying for about 5 years afterwards (he gave up after that). Some people cited his actions when leaving the previous studio when rejecting him. Some made flimsy excuses. He works with me in construction now. Might be different in other fields, but I somehow doubt it.

@AJFaraday he said overlord, not wizard. Also, the tags "science-based", "technology", and "engineering" seem to preclude that answer.

"If adults are too heavy" fyi, dwarves are traditionally as heavy as an adult human. They are very very dense.

@Transistor I think you're right. At the same time, the potential energy of the BRICK would be near zero. The potential energies of the brick and balloon would be inversely proportional, I think.

@T.J.L. haha, it was one of my many phone typos. Didn't even notice!
Aug 10, 2018 14:04
@NuclearWang that's.... the point. They would send messages by horse when it's foggy, because "it's harder to stop a messenger on a fast horse." I don't understand what you're trying to say. Light works really well SOMETIMES (when not foggy), but horses work even when it's foggy.
Aug 10, 2018 14:04
@NuclearWang if the fog is dense, the next tower would not see the shining light. Nothing to do with the speed of fog. Think about driving in THICC fog. Can you see oncoming cars from a far way off? I can't

@JaneDoe1337 on battlenet, rather than asking if she wants to group up, have you just directly asked "why are you not at work?"

@AccidentalFourierTransform how is surface tension and density not about physics?

Mar 6, 2018 21:26
"But to more extroverted people a coffee house or cafe is pretty much a place for socialization from what I have seen and heared." Like you said, it might be cultural differences. It is as far away from a place for socializing as anything where I live.
Mar 6, 2018 21:26
"then she should have written 'random *man*' but she wrote 'random *men*' which means she *is* generalizing."
That is completely false, and somewhat sexist honestly. She said men, because it wasn't just one person. Women have to deal with men doing this thing. Your argument is the same as the "Not All Men" movement, which is incredibly sexist. I know that wasn't your intent though. It's not all men, but enough that the word needs to be men instead of man.
