This begs the question whether it is ethical on the part of the company to not hire all 13 candidates instead of just one? Is it right to take an opportunity away from other job candidates who may be in need for a job?

@Molot, look at how far that thick black line of vision still touches the earth circle. Now calculate how many km's that are, obviously it's way more than 1km.

@CortAmmon but how much would the next Zelda game earn for Nintento if they release it for free? Releasing games for free (microtransactions is not free) is nice if you do not need to pay your developers wages.

@Allure the journal makes profit on selling papers that it receives for free, and get's reviewed for free. Both the creating and controlling academics work for free, the journal walks away with the money. If they do not distribute the papers for free (or at least cheap) it is a very strange business model to make everyone else work for you for free.

To circumvent hundreds of different threads of speculation, we can of course look at a real-life example. How far are Switzerland and Norway lagging behind the EU-countries? Britain will probably have a similar position.

@Criggie "Nowhere on earth disallows helmets" - The Netherlands just passed a bill that disallows people to wear full motor helmets and balaclavas in public buildings, but we're going off topic now :)

Here to defend the security staff: the obvious answer to "Why do you refuse the scanners and insist on getting pat-down?" is because the simple pat-down does not reveal the gun that, according to the scanners, is hidden in his rectum.

The main part is, get his support. If you visit, and feel mistreated, he should be on your side. Make sure he knows that if he doesn't back you up (again), you won't visit again.

@DesperateDogLover, companies work for paying customers. You forgot about the paying part. If an airline allows pets on board a lot of paying (allergic) customers leave. Which means they don't work for customers any more, thus the ban on pets.

So is this question about LGBT in general or about the lesbian couple? Because there is probably a huge difference in reception of a male or female gay couple in your game ;)
