@AllisonC i think the reason my cat loves belly rubs and brushing is because everything gets stuck in his fur,i can tell where he has been by what is stuck inhis fur :).i have a couple of roe deer visiting my property and it looks like my cat likes them because they are not scared of him.
@JourneymanGeek he is a beauty,i have seen a lot of the videos that the girl with the dogs have posted she has many videos with beautiful cats and dogs.
@Stephie he loves belly rubs,he flips over instantly when he see me :) he weighs 7,5 kg and with 1 inch claws so he can do some serious damage if i dont behave.he spends all the time he possibly can outside and he forgets to eat for 12-14hrs at times.
i gave my cat flea and tick medication, and now he is no longer the one that has fleas.i gave him flea medication in the evening and i got 16 flea bites during the night,it is bird fleas they canot live on blood from cats and people but they still bite and it itch a lot for a few days.the medication is named ad tab and it does obviously work :)
@JourneymanGeek burrs are a big problem that comes on top of other stuff that gets stuck in his fur, many plants have a hook on their seeds not only burrs.everything from sand to snails can and will get stuck in the fur.last year my cat and i had a debate about brushing,he did run outside only to return two min later with about 20 or so burrs stuck to his hind legs and walking funny.
i tried to brush it out of his fur for a week but it was impossible to remove it.i have nobody to help me in holding him so it takes some time and patience from him when i have to remove it.
i had to shave the other hind leg of my cat yesterday using a hair trimmer,he got a big lump of matted fur that i needed to remove and i know it is painfull for him but he gets over it faster than i do.
thank you allison,i brush him twice a day and he still gets matted fur,it is the undercoat that is problematic.maybe somebody here know of a better brush, the brush i use now is for dogs and i get a lot of fur off him but he still get matted on the chest and belly.
after the fox attack i fund that she had kidney problems,i hope there will be an effective treatment soon,,all cats get kidney problems from siberian tigers to housecats.
i have had a coupe of scares with my cat`s over the years but nothing close to what your kitten has experienced.the last time was 10 years ago,my cat electra got injured by a fox,i came home from work and found a lot of her fur behind my house,i ws sure she was dead but then i found a lot of fur from the fox and started to look for her i found her in my attic she had lost a lot of fur and had a coupe of scratches on both sides of her body but nothing that needed treatment.
the little guy could easily have died from that injury,i dont know what i had done to the dog if this had been my cat.it is a bad place to get injured with all the facial nerves running close to the eye but if he can close the eye and move the ear then the nerves are inntact.
i had to shave a big lump of matted fur from the innside of my cats hind leg this morning,,it was the size of a matchbox and smelling badly of pee.my lillepus was yelling from start to finish he did not get scared or angry and was very happy to get it removed.
my cat lives outdoors and i only see him when he is hungry or wants to get brushed, today he has been inside for 11min(it is the time eating and brushing takes).he eats only morning and evening and once during the night,he demands me to watch him eat or he leaves starving.he is a two and a half year old maine coon that weighs 7,3kg,this is the ideal weight for a male maine coon.
@Koro you can take a look at this Q&A pets.stackexchange.com/questions/28260/… my answer there can maybe be of some help,as it is now the vet is your best option and please give an update after the vet visit :)
@Koro if a kitten stop eating and drinking for more than 12 hrs you need to get him to a vet,and never give milk to cats this is even more important for a cat that is ill, kittens can quickly get dehydrated from diarrhea if they drink milk after they are weaned from their mothers milk.
and i have a magpie that gets soaking wet in the stream i buildt in connection to my garden pond, the water is about 10-15cm deep and the magpie splash around in the water before he or she flies up and sit on the fence for a moment before he or she jumps back into the water again it happens many times in a row.
my cat has lost some weight over the last month or so,he eats the normal amount of food,4x65 grams of wet food + about 50 grams of dry food a day, this is very close to the recomended daily food intake for a 7 kg cat.
@Stephie glad to hear that the bloodwork came back normal, many cats start to snore as they get older, most of the time it is normal and not a sign of problems but if it is a young cat it needs to be checked by a vet to see what the cause might be.
@JourneymanGeek i use bravecto spoton against ticks and fleas and it works :).against internal parasites i use profender,i try not to give the two treatments at the same time.
i have to follow him one day to see how far he goes,i know the direction but not how far he goes.i think he has been in one or more fights judging by how his fur looks.
i got my lillepus a dog door,he weighs 7,1kg so a normal catflap is too tiny for him.he found out how to use it yesterday,it is minus 14C outside this morning and he still stayed outside for over an hour.i never let my cat outside if it is below minus 10C but if he let himself out and back inside it must be okay for him.
