@Tak The German law, I guess. If you rent an apartment incl. washing machine and pay rent, it's the landlord's responsibility that everything works.

Have you made the new colleague aware of the fact, that you brought the stuff there, in the first place? He's new, and he found it like so, and likely wanted to share the pleasure of having a quite working room with the wife.

Is the point of a standup not to leave the work situation with all the technology? Have you said something, when someone took their mobile during standup? How is the power distance an issue, in the first place?

@DavidLindon I guess this question was addressed in earlier comments. I know conferences where one's business card is the ticket to participate in the raffle. The search for leads is the reason to give something away.

Do you know the colleague? Did you joke with him before? Is he from your culture?

I guess it's hard to predict if trains will be crowded. Personally, I believe, most stories you read about travelling to Sylt island are jokes.

How would they know that you carry money in the first place? Suche a small amount fits in your purse. But I guess there are coutries that forbid to import and export their currency, so it's good to ask.

I did not expect to read about twitter, when your question title states that your paper is being cited. I thought of something important. What do you mean by *Of course*, my work has no relationship with any vaccine

I believe there were questions like yours before: Hired as a developer with no infrastructure in place to do my job

May 27, 2021 02:54
@JoeStrazzere That's why it's in the developer's interest not to give a lower estimation than the manager. Therefore it must be addressed that the developer does not speak contrary to the manager in front of customers.

@M.Stern Not having a palce to work at home is a valid reason to go to the office.

Apr 20, 2021 02:05
When one finds the office in an unknown location and notices there's still an hour left until the appointment, one would look for a café and "waste" the time there (hoping not to spill coffee on the dress). Or sit on a bench or something.

In the comments buried, I read the question if you plan on earning the money in Germany or the US. Consider taxes. When you earn the money in the US and plan to spend it in Germany you again have to consider taxes. When you want to sell shares worth 4 % every year you have to consider taxes. In Germany, you pay 25 % on wins from saved money. May or may not be much.

Restoring the website should have highest priority. Do you have the sources of the website in a git repo? Was a database altered? Do you have a recent backup you can restore? Then you can dicuss who's fault it was. You typically set up a copy of the production system and do your automatic testing there.

We had a system go down sometime this weekend and he “didn’t check his messages” Was he supposed to? Is it part of his contract? Is he paid for additional hours?

Nov 18, 2019 13:07
These 11 hours may contain a 1 hour break. In some companies a shift lasts 12 hours with a 2 hour break. And some free days every few days to maintain the 48 hours per week limit.
Nov 18, 2019 13:07
Every developer works differently. Some work better in the afternoon or night, but definitely not when they start working at 8. The average shouldn't be more than 48 hours per week, though.

Nov 11, 2019 19:11
What means leaving early? Do you need to work a certain amount of hours a day? When you arrive in office earlier in the morning it should be possible to leave earlier in the evening.
