@Katai If I fed you a large meal and you got fat, would you say that I "destroyed" you?

@Aww_Geez "We received a large amount of funding from an angel investor, and are planning to make that last until we start turning a profit/we get investments from other sources" would cover that. There's no need for the boss to keep the employees completely in the dark like this.

@Pelinore Asimov's Three Laws are intentionally flawed. He didn't propose them as a genuine solution for AI safety, but instead to highlight how seemingly benign rules can be very dangerous when taken to their logical conclusions.

@chaslyfromUK In that case we have weakly solved chess in finding that, with perfect play, the starting position will always lead to a draw.

@J.Mini Can't code at all really isn't extreme. Cobbling together bits of code you found on Google isn't coding in the same way that pouring cereal and milk into a bowl isn't cooking.

I'm not convinced that being able to survive without assistance is part of the definition of 'a person'. Does this apply to injured adults?

@VasuDeo.S Furthermore, we already gave Facebook our password when we signed up. If they wanted to do anything bad with it, they don't need you to log in again to do it.

At any company I've worked at, a goto would instantly fail a code review.

Growing up in the UK, I was also taught that they is only to be used as a plural pronoun. I changed my mind a couple of years ago though. It seems there's still large camps of very strong opinions on both sides. It's probably best not to go about "correcting" people's usage of he into they, but if they insist on using gendered pronouns for unknown people I see no problem with making sure they at least use the correct gender.

@dsfgsho Yeah, I have no idea why the volunteers sign up. i didn't know about all the volunteers when I applied. They are mostly students still in university so I guess they are looking for workplace experience or something?

@mutt Yeah, I'll send an email to my boss about it

My contract lists all the salary categories the company offers, but none in particular are highlighted. It says on the job advertisement (and confirmed verbally) which salary category I fit into, but doesn't indicate it on the contract.
