@NishantBhakta the first time when it worked the folder had more than two files in it, so that doesn't seem to be an issue, and I can't have just two files in folder because of this script that I'm using already, but it did surely work, I hope you will fix the problem very soon :)
Jul 27, 2017 12:09
@NishantBhakta It worked for me precisely twice with two small files (below 700mb) then I tried to do it on a big file and it didn't work, "merging" file didn't got created. Then I tried it on other files and again, It didn't create the "merging" file. But it did work, for sure. I've upvoted the answer for that reason, If you need something from my end I'm happy to help? Can you add something that will create a log file of this script? that way I can share the logs with you
Jul 27, 2017 12:09
@pa4080 thanks again, but it's still not working for me! only difference that I see on my part is I'm using Ubuntu Gnome 17.04 (not Unity), but It's clearly working in the demo, so it qualifies as answer IMO.
Jul 27, 2017 12:09
@JacobVlijm anyway, script is inconsistent, I'm sure you'll come up with a better way :)
Jul 27, 2017 12:09
@pa4080 I don't think the same script would work as nautilus script (I might be wrong) but in this case it's not working, nothing happens after clicking the merge script from nautilus scripts. It might need some changes
Jul 27, 2017 12:09
Yes files without "spaces" work, it just appends ".merging" extension to the file. extension should be 'mkv' shouldn't it?
Jul 27, 2017 12:09
I think your script can't work with file names having "spaces" inside them. just a hunch
Jul 27, 2017 12:09
Still getting syntax error :/mnt/Hollywood/J/James Bond/Daniel Creg/1 Casino Royale (2006)$ python merge.py sh: 1: Syntax error: "(" unexpected sh: 1: Syntax error: "(" unexpected sh: 1: Syntax error: "(" unexpected
Jul 27, 2017 12:09
Thanks for the quick answer, but I'm sorry to say that it's not working I've posted the output here, on another note, could you convert this script into a Nautilus Script?

@JacobVlijm His solution is working on Ubuntu with Unity (presumably) but not working on Ubuntu Gnome 17.04, is that even possible?
Jul 26, 2017 07:44
@JacobVlijm of-course, let's hope he can improve it, But I still think nautilus script approach would be better
Jul 26, 2017 07:37
@JacobVlijm that answer isn't working anyway
Jul 26, 2017 06:28
@JacobVlijm got an answer, not the way I wanted but I'm trying it anyway
Jul 26, 2017 04:20
@JacobVlijm I've awarded bounty on that question 2 days early because I didn't want to forget it at the last moment (hope that's alright). And I think you can help me out with this question, since you like making nautilus scripts, It's kind of an easy problem considering what you've done in the past :P. Script to merge Video and subs then delete the existing files (non recursive)
Jul 15, 2017 12:17
askubuntu.com/a/936394/665251 this doesn't seem like a complete answer to the question?
Jul 7, 2017 15:11
I'm just saying, almost free bounty here for being theoretical
Jul 7, 2017 15:09
at least other users should know that this isn't right way to go about it
Jul 7, 2017 15:09
When bounty doesn't help AT ALL, @cl-netbox Well tried what you told me to do, It's just not working, maybe it's just old software and that's it, || If someone writes a good answer saying just this point that DDCcontrol is an old piece of code (and some explanation) I'd at least award bounty (which is going to go to waste anyway).

@JourneymanGeek thanks, maybe I should comment on one of his reviews or something

Jul 1, 2017 15:44
@cl-netbox I've 120 gb sdd for OS (ubuntu and manjaro) 2 x 2tb internal HDD, 1 500gb hdd (will fail eventually) and 4TB external backup.

Jul 1, 2017 15:19
