You know how when you buy something in a supermarket and it says on the packet "made in an environment that processes milk, nuts, etc, etc.", well you going to a non-vegan restaurant and asking for vegan produce is you knowing full well that they prepare meat in that environment. If you are that strict about it, DON'T GO TO A RESTAURANT THAT SERVES MEAT.

Pressure differential. In space, it's effectively zero. In water it's whatever the weight of the water is above any point on the ship (+ the weight of any atmosphere). Spaceships are designed for, well, space and submarines are made to withstand tremendous pressures of water above it.

@Erik Clearly some of us have harsher views on crime and punishment than others. Agree to disagree.

@Erik - No, he skipped bail and deserves the book thrown at him for it, just as you would expect for anyone else. He is not special, just a common criminal that can run surprisingly fast into a decent hiding place.

@IllusiveBrian - "but you can't deny that Assange is not a normal fugitive" - Yes I can. It's very simple actually. He fled bail, therefore he is a normal fugitive. His motives are absolutely a moot point.

"some would argue that being stuck in the embassy is itself a punishment" - Can many prisoners hold press conferences, eat whatever they want, have visitors whenever they want, etc, etc.? No. If he has done no wrong, he should face his accusers in court like the rest of us have to. Innocent people do not run.

@SJuan76 - Yes, it is a big issue. He fled on bail therefore he is a fugitive. What happens when the government/law enforcement walk away? Then every single alleged criminal will hide out for n years without consequence. Is this how we do justice? By just giving up? To moot your "so many resources" point, law enforcement is not a business. It doesn't work on profit and loss. So whilst we have an economy that can sustain law enforcement and the justice system, he should be relentlessly perused and held accountable for his actions.

I would say if they don't know you're in the US, don't tell them and then apply for proper documentation when you get to Canada. Yes, 14 years is a very long piss-take but if they don't know, it didn't happen.
