simple answer gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.html and it's in the GPL FAQ. System Libraries (includes interpreters) and standard interfaces are excluded. gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#SystemLibraryException I am downvoting this question though as it really is too broad.

Apr 24, 2012 01:25
actually I'm just going to curmudeon and close it as too localized though could also be not a good question because its based on pure opinion.
Apr 24, 2012 01:14
opinions?
Apr 24, 2012 01:12
@MichaelMrozek @Gilles ^ I'm thinking of closing this btrfs question as too localized, it has occurred to me that the status of the filesystem is ever changing and that all answers are speculative

Q: Is btrfs stable enough for home usage?

Sam Saffronbtrfs has finally found its way into the latest kernels, is it considered stable and safe enough to use in a home backup scenario (as an alternative to zfs) ?

Apr 19, 2012 13:45
also my backups are incremental
Apr 19, 2012 13:44
nightly backups is more than I need
Apr 19, 2012 13:44
I have weekly backups too... my computer took forever to boot, seems like I'm lucky it did at all... but one of my mirrors is now offline, running smart selftest on the disk. will likely have to force some kind of resync
Apr 19, 2012 13:41

Q: How to set a video mode in linux with kms/drm?

How can I set the video mode in Linux the low level way? As far as I know the lowest layer in userspace would be to request KMS via DRM. Is this correct? And if so, how could I achieve a mode switch and access to the associated "video memory"?

May 24, 2011 16:08
SE should add a mark as "similar to question"
May 24, 2011 16:00
