Axtell already can import CGCC challenges
Jan 24, 2020 00:25
@Doorknob What are your thoughts on moderation? i.e. will you keep doing it?
Jan 24, 2020 00:24

lot less work to redo that way
Feb 10, 2022 11:14
you can just fork it
Feb 10, 2022 11:14
@pxeger you know, TIO is open source
Jul 14, 2021 07:19
the eventual update of everything is gonna be rough though...

I miss Dennis :(
Oct 15, 2020 18:16
"install Wine" doesn't work because doing anything with wine requires it to open sockets, and TIO can't tell the difference between a socket for communicating with a local process and a socket for communicating with the internet, which isn't allowed.

Is TIO down?

This isn't the room for your random thoughts

Feb 24, 2020 06:42
@a'_' Why would you feel the need to post this in talk.tryitonline.net

Feb 12, 2020 22:45
now I just need to install a slightly less broken operating system that has a functioning keyboard layout switcher
Feb 12, 2020 22:43
@Adám Speaking of licensing, I noticed that getting Dyalog is much less terrible now
Feb 12, 2020 22:39
@Adám Doesn't even have to be open source, bunch of closed source software
Feb 6, 2020 01:57
I don't get it
Feb 4, 2020 04:16
Don't feel like you need to work on TIO if you just can't. If you work to maintain TIO end you end up hurting yourself mentally, that's the worst thing that can happen.

It's really awful how this community is falling apart and I don't get to talk with some of these amazing people anymore but I'm just glad you're doing ok.
Feb 4, 2020 04:13
When I first joined PPCG years ago, I was still in high school, new to Linux, new to a lot of programming things, and I really looked up to you during that time for seeming to always know everything and for always willing to help out with whatever computer trouble or whatever whenever you were around. So much of what I now know comes entirely from me asking and you patiently explaining.
Feb 4, 2020 04:11
@Dennis I'm just really glad you're feeling better. You mean so much to all of us and you've done so much for us and I don't think that anyone could possibly be mad at you for taking some time off for yourself. I was really afraid of the worst possible case, and I'm truly very happy to see you're doing better.
Jan 28, 2020 23:30
I hope nothing's happened to him...
Jan 24, 2020 02:56
@Dennis What's the future of TIO? Are you going to keep maintaining it? It would be great if you could let us know, the current plan is for the Axtell team to fork TIO and maintain it themselves, but we could use your help either way.

Is there a quick way to convert from a number of standard deviations from the mean to a probability? Like I can remember that for 1, 2, and 3 standard deviations from the mean you get 68%, 95%, and 99.7% of data, but how can I calculate that for a strange number of standard deviations like 2.7 or whatever
Apr 13, 2020 02:22
I still think FactorialPower is an awful name but whatever
Apr 13, 2020 02:22
Oh never mind, I'm just blind and didn't see it there.
Apr 13, 2020 02:17
I think I'm actually gonna write to them about it. I can't be the only one who found their documentation lacking in this regard.
Apr 13, 2020 02:12
Even W|A just says you inputted n!/(n-k)! when you feed it P(n,k)
Apr 13, 2020 02:12
Not listed in the list of Combinatorial builtins either
Apr 13, 2020 02:11
@Rojo Thanks
Apr 12, 2020 20:59
i.e. n!/(n-k)!
Apr 12, 2020 20:59
Anyone know if there's a builtin for P(n,k)
