A: Changing BIGINT to INT

fuxiaThere should not be any downside. The user ID is cast to int in many places in the WP PHP files anyway. But I don't think this is a real performance problem. If your queries are slow, it might be more useful to inspect each of them and look for opportunities to improve the queries or to add index...

I just read up on the story of user IDs being BIGINT. This is hilarious.

I couldn't work like that.

I was a co-writer for books about anthropology in utopias of the 17th and 18th century and later one about CSS. Also wrote a lot about chess, just not in a book form.

It's mostly about Sudoku variants, but I start with the most important classic techniques (various wings and fishes), then around 100 hand-crafted puzzles to explain the intrinsic logic of the most common variants. And then maybe a part about setting, although that might deserve a separate book.

I'll try to finish the next chapter for my Sudoku book. Hard work!

Q: Unpinning the accepted answer from the top of the list of answers

Nicolas ChabanovskyToday we changed the way we sort answers on Stack Overflow. We no longer pin the accepted answer (with the green checkmark) to the top of the list of answers. By default, we now sort strictly by votes (descending order by highest score), and the accepted answer's order in the list is based on its...

This answer was just accepted after more than 9 years. Amazing.
Feb 5, 2021 17:00
No, normally you just change one file. I give a demonstration in my example above. If you keep your code abstract enough, you change just the parameters.
Feb 5, 2021 16:04
But of course, if you just want to change a very small thing, use a simple function as callback, nothing wrong with that. :)
Feb 5, 2021 16:04
I can judge that only from my personal experience. I worked on large projects where we had everything in real objects (i.e.: no singletons) and registration separated from callbacks, and it worked out pretty well without getting too messy.
Feb 5, 2021 15:55
The code I wrote in that linked answer is exactly made to let the project grow. You will never need more registrations in that place. If you do, create specialized controllers, instead of adding more to the original.
Feb 5, 2021 15:43
fun fact: I'm sitting on a Sudoku called Bug Collection right now. :)
Feb 5, 2021 15:41
@kero Registering callbacks is usually done in a specialized controller, except when you have so many that it isn't readable anymore, then you can move that out. Sample code for the separation of registration and callback
Feb 5, 2021 14:39
@Howdy_McGee Registering callbacks and executing them are two very different tasks that don't belong into the same class, imo. add_action( 'hook', [$this, 'callback']); is always a bit smelly. :)
