At the very least reputation loss for negative votes could scale quadratically instead of linearly
Sep 18, 2020 10:11
That they were able to reach such a high reputation is indeed the proof that the SE reputation system has deep flaws
Sep 18, 2020 10:11
I could honestly never tell if they were trolling, but in the very least they are a textbook case of the Dunning-Kruger effect

@Dimitris Some happy accidents happen, but you really should not give any credit to an answer from LPH unless it is supported by an answer from someone else with a very good score
Sep 18, 2020 10:08
@Dimitris It is blatantly wrong to anyone who actually speaks idiomatic French, as is often the case with this user despite their insistence that they are right
Jun 10, 2020 16:06
@Reyedy Oh sure, maybe I will even start asking questions again :-)
Jun 10, 2020 13:38
Oooooh first time in years my name isn't blue here, what a relief :-D
Jun 10, 2020 13:38
Congrats to our new mods :-)
Jun 1, 2020 21:55
Ooooh I'd better monitor them while I can then
Jun 1, 2020 21:23
@Tsundoku Or look at the stats on the election page :-)
May 31, 2020 21:53
I am so happy to see people willing to rebuild this site
May 31, 2020 21:49
You folks ♥
May 31, 2020 13:04
The good news is we have 4 nominee now, so I don't even need to run as a backup \o/
May 31, 2020 13:03
@Tsundoku Done and done :-)
May 30, 2020 12:36
I think there are not much hope of building a community around French without attracting native speakers :-)
May 30, 2020 12:32
And it's hard to retrain those users only answering learner questions is only fun for so long
May 30, 2020 12:31
So this site mostly revolves around L2 learners, with most answers coming from a very small pool of L1 speakers with a reasonable level in English
May 30, 2020 12:30
Since the site is mostly targeted to english speakers, it is hard to attract a lot of expert francophones
May 30, 2020 12:29
Yes, though I am not sure how to do that in the current SE framework
May 30, 2020 12:26
But the most harmful for serious engagement here (and hence willingness to run as mod) was the issues we've had dealing with problematic users in the past I think
May 30, 2020 12:25
Though to be fair, this crisis has also helped killing what little community interaction we've had
May 30, 2020 12:24
No, the resignation were due to fatigue (we've been pro tempore here for more than 6 years) and the recent SE crisis
May 30, 2020 12:22
We had some problematic users, which did require a bit more attention, but they moved away and it's been really quiet since then
May 30, 2020 12:21
It really doesn't take more than 15' a day, though if I was still motivated I could spend more time improving things I suppose
May 30, 2020 12:20
@Tsundoku like 1 flag/day, sometimes less
May 6, 2020 17:01
@Qàtrè I don't understand what you are asking, why should it be something else?
May 6, 2020 15:44
@Qàtrè What do you mean “this kind”?
Apr 29, 2020 21:27

Apr 22, 2020 19:46
Nous sommes toujours à la recherche de personnes intéressées pour se présenter aux élections des modérateurices. En fait comme ce serait notre première élection, d'après les règles de SE, il faut qu'il y ait au moins 4 candidat⋅e⋅s

@MichaelRybkin yes, you got it :-)
Jan 31, 2020 11:00
So stop with that kind of comments

Jan 31, 2020 10:59
@LPH Since you are wondering what you are doing wrong: “ C'est une prononciation des échanges peu soigneux et surtout, par les plus mauvais éléments parmi les locuteurs qui s'expriment en français” this is insulting
Jan 17, 2020 16:27
I (obviously) do but the policy of SE is that moderation details are not publicly released
Jan 10, 2020 09:24
@Færd Yes, and sometimes eve further to chai
Jan 10, 2020 09:19
@ho2o2hh2o Entièrement d'accord, n'hésite pas à commenter et downvoter en ce sens ou à en discuter ic
Dec 27, 2019 16:25
@MichaelRybkin Yes
Dec 27, 2019 16:12
@MichaelRybkin Almost, that would be … far in advance …
Nov 30, 2019 10:16
@Fólkvangr @LPH Please don't escalate this further here
Nov 26, 2019 11:18

Jan 13, 2020 14:01
@terdon It is, but anyone claiming any expertise on French should know better
Jan 13, 2020 13:48
ok prescriptivist
Jan 13, 2020 12:55
@all-prescriptivist-here Go on, show us an universally agreed upon “standard” French, we'll be waiting
Jan 13, 2020 12:54
@LPH “We are not all equally gifted in everything, I don't see why people in a particular region could not be specially gifted in comparison to others” wow, I have seen a lot of bigoted opinions here but that's easily in the top 3
Jan 13, 2020 12:53
“At the end of a sentence it is never pronounced "cat"” this is blatantly false. and “ "Vingt" is pronounced "vint" in some régions of France, but that is not standard French” is seriously offensive.
