@GeoffreyBrent That flyer is specific to public sector jobs based on how Queensland defines it. I think it's quite bold to claim that this definition also applies to any company in the private sector and further to "just about anywhere."

Your factual insight and practical testing were very enlightening. The answer would be improved without the unsubstantiated claims on CNN's likely motives, and personal views of the AP.

I don't do much code golfing, but I am a frontend developer. There's three main ways that I've seen the word "frontend" represented: "frontend," "front-end," "front end". In JavaScript, would this be an optimally-golfed solution to randomly picking one of those representations of the word?
Apr 4, 2018 19:07
@cairdcoinheringaahing True! That would be a good one to start with. Thanks
Apr 4, 2018 19:03
@flawr That's actually the one I was just looking at! Maybe after work I'll give it a go!
Apr 4, 2018 19:02
@EriktheOutgolfer Maybe I will someday! I'm a software engineer, but I'm encouraged specifically not to write code like you guys usually do, for good reason! I'll have to put the effort into learning all of the usual tricks at some point. Probably start with Javascript, as that's mostly what I work with every day.
Apr 4, 2018 19:01
@flawr Hahha, that might be true.. I've looked at some of yall's edits!

Just wanted to say that I've never posted an answer here, but I enjoy reading the challenges and answers. I like that this community is one of the few on SE that's consistently constructive. +1 to all of you.

@user4012 I only meant my comment as a response to your statement of “I find it curious that you don’t challenge the assertions (nor does anyone else) at all, though.” —> it contains no assertions. Yes, it is not a sufficient proof or explanation, and it is only one data point. I think the upvotes are probably from others with whom this answer resonates, not necessarily scholars who have analyzed the subject thoroughly.
Oct 23, 2020 14:43
@user4012 Because there are no assertions to challenge. It's all personal testimony. Their conclusion is "had I never gone to college I'd probably be a lot more politically conservative." While I can also relate to OP's experience, there aren't any statements to refute—the fact that OP has reached this conclusion concerning their personal experience is not a point that any one else can challenge.

Why do we keep trivially editing posts that have been inactive for years?

@TGMCians Yes. Click the "Select this font" button (sometimes it's just a "+", depending on what view you're on). It will add your font to that drawer at the bottom of the screen. After selecting all of the fonts you wish to download, expand that drawer, and you can find options to embed your fonts, or download them as a .zip file via the download button at the top right. Unzip the downloaded file to find your .ttf files.

@JohnGB Have been all day! Not sure if you were the one to give me that last upvote, but I'm sitting pretty at 3,009 rep now

I know this site isn't all about reputation, but sitting here with 2,999 rep is frustrating, hahha.

@Aequitas It seems perfectly justified for someone with impaired vision, or produces digital content to request such a monitor.

When people post screenshots of claims written in Comic Sans, I feel the default response to "Is this true?" is "Of course not."

@RobE I enjoy contributing to the site and doing what I can to improve it, but I don't want to be obligated to do so, though I admire and appreciate those who are willing and driven to bear that.
Jun 18, 2018 20:39
@GraceNote This community has a track record of being silent on meta and chat (as JonW pointed out in an election question). What would happen if we encounter the very possible situation where we have no candidates come forward? Would we simply not have an election?

Apr 26, 2018 18:26
I just read an article about a game coming out later this year: Hypnospace Outlaw. The description sounds like something people active on this site might be interested in.
Apr 24, 2018 20:17
@Sid Yeah, I used to as well, but it got annoying having to open a new page every time. Just thought it might be useful to others as well.
Apr 24, 2018 20:11
I really wish I thought to look this up earlier, but there's a few rot13 Chrome extensions that will decipher the text in place. This one sticks the option in the context menu, so you just select, right click, and decipher (and doesn't ask for any elevated permissions). Pretty nifty—thought you guys might want to check it out. (There are several out there, so I'm not necessarily promoting any specific one.)

Feb 23, 2018 21:26
Based on these comments, it looks like this SE community is pretty savage... Not sure why you all are so discouraging.

Feb 15, 2018 08:07
If someone's eating 75 burgers in public, they ought to expect people to ask questions. Doesn't sound like someone who's trying to avoid discussing it (unless he's racing the clock or something...).

Nov 20, 2017 11:57
@MaskedMan fair enough. I’ve had the same experience. I definitely am not saying it’s a good strategy, but I think it happens. I get put on hold often here in the US and get played very low quality music—not due to a technical deficiency (the rest of the phone call is of excellent quality), but rather intentionally.
Nov 20, 2017 11:57
@Jeffrey I agree—this is most likely the real reason. More annoying + not helpful = more callers give up = fewer support calls.

Jul 8, 2017 14:09
@Mast Then, by all means, feel free to disregard my comment. Perhaps we are used to using the term to mean slightly different things.
Jul 8, 2017 14:09
I'd say it's a form of spot checking.

Mar 28, 2017 18:43
So the short answer to your original question, @Pradeep, is apparently a resounding "neither."

Aug 27, 2016 04:30
@nocomprende This is a Q&A site, but it doesn't look like you want any answers. If you're looking to just voice your own opinion and watch people agree with you, try Twitter.
Aug 27, 2016 04:30
@nocomprende whether or not Liam understands the reasoning behind the airliners' request is irrelevant and does not impact why the icon was chosen. To summarize what has been said already: the mode is called airplane mode because it puts your phone into a mode that is compliant with flight policy. I (and most users, I assume) rarely--if ever--use it when not in a plane. Airplane mode is critical when flying, but provides little to no value to most users otherwise. The icon makes perfect sense in this regard. This question really shouldn't be this difficult to resolve.

Aug 26, 2016 08:25
@nocomprende we don't have to agree.
Aug 26, 2016 08:25
@AndrewMartin exactly what I was trying to say, but clearer! Thanks
Aug 26, 2016 08:25
@nocomprende have you ever turned off your cell phone before pulling up to a gas pump? Personally, I have not, despite having read that warning as well. I'd say that the need for that feature was far greater (from a user's perspective) in an airplane because flight attendants actually enforce this policy.
