@TheFallen0ne No one is acting like that. That’s your perception of the actions, which is entirely the problem. We see anything besides confirmation as a problem. That’s a huge issue and it’s what this site has turned into. Users have for years stopped moderating because of the backlash against doing so. Every time this discussion happens, it ends with “well, I’m doing me, so I guess we will do this again on another question when this repeats.”
Jul 9 19:25
Man, I miss when people would listen to criticism and try to change instead of just continuing to say “I’m right”
Jul 9 19:25
@TheFallen0ne Downvoting this type of question while allowing it is the site working as it’s supposed to. We all should get back to doing that, to be open to closing questions for clarification as a helpful act, and generally acting as moderators and not rubber stampers.

This is absolutely part of the it’s okay to downvote, it’s okay to have standards.

And tasi, understands who your character is and their motives ain’t with the group motives are something that every player needs to do. It’s hard to understand your side when you aren’t even sure what character you were playing.
Jul 7 19:58
@kirt you either accept the play style of the group or find a new group. You don’t get to play your style if it doesn’t with everyone else’s , that’s a My guy syndrome move.
Jul 7 19:58
You had a plan for the character going in and wanted to play it your way. Regardless of the party. That may have been the”deal” with the DM, but as Korvin said, imagine your entry to the game from the perspective of the rest of the players.
Jul 7 19:27
@Tasi I hate to say it, but all of the “I’s” make this sound like a my guy syndrome.
Jul 7 18:48
This idea of no strong obligation to be part of the group you’re playing with is absurd. Either you have an obligation or you don’t play with them. We don’t play in a vacuum, we play with others. Let’s not forget that.
Jul 7 16:09
Of which there are three sides
Jul 7 16:09
Kirt, also remember we only have one side the story here
Jul 7 14:58
You had a certain set of expectations that did not match the actual group, and that’s frustrating.
Jul 7 14:58
@Tasi Unfortunately, this seems like a play style issue.
Jul 7 12:31
Has there been a session zero?
Jul 7 12:30
Are you sure that the other players and dm aren’t playing a style you don’t like?

Jun 26 13:36
So if ou don't like it, just don't read what I write when i do write.
Jun 26 13:36
I've barely participatd recently, so when I do- maybe it's something that I felt was necessary to say? I don't jump on him on every Q & A, just the ones where I think there can be improvement. Their disregard for wanting that doesn't mean i stop. That's not how that works.
Jun 26 13:35
I've been a member trying my best to moderate. Nobody has conistently bucked against that from everyone. Nobody also doesn't need you to stand up for him - he is more than capable of speaking up for himself.
Jun 26 13:11
It’s also okay to be wrong. Different opinions can still be wrong and people still can change. Not everyone is right all the time. Not everyone deserves a gold star.
Jun 26 13:10
@SeriousBri and I’m sick of seeing it happen. Complain to the moderators, not to me.
Jun 25 19:59
And that’s why it’s not necessary here, it’s there
Jun 25 19:54
And not for this one
Jun 25 19:54
And that’s kind of an answer for the question I linked as duplicate
Jun 25 19:49
But your first part is a great answer!
Jun 25 19:49
Exactly, it’s why this question needs help
Jun 25 19:49
It’s a guess. There are so many more options across classes, items, etc.
Jun 25 19:48
Or flip side, if it’s a Dex save the failure state is very easy with a condition
Jun 25 19:47
Heck, if they have a paladin, their aura could sway it back to positivity
Jun 25 19:46
There’s no details, so they aren’t relevant
Jun 25 19:46
That’s exactly my point
Jun 25 19:42
And for me all that extra stuff obfuscates the actual answer at the top
Jun 25 19:37
I’d honestly remove the bits that don’t apply, but that’s me. It’s okay to put effort in and remove when you realize it’s not necessary.
Jun 25 18:25
And that probably includes what their actual failure state goal is.
Jun 25 18:24
@HoneyBattery And yeah - nobody was pretty unclear in their question. They talk about wanting near-perfect failure, but then talk about that. THat's an opportunity for clarification about what it is they want.
Jun 25 18:24
Are you aware of the Deck of Many Things that the book of Many Things is based off of? It's often called a campaign-ender for good reason. I don't know about the new book, but while a legendary item does fit the bill, some analysis of the item and where it's from would be meaningful because it's so powerful. heck, even addressing WHY the only thing that does htis is legendary is probably worth talking about after the analysis shows nothing does.
Jun 25 18:24
OP was looking to fornear-guarantee failure. The spindle of fate fits that and it also REALLY deserves some commentary on its use (given a legendary item from the book of many things off of the Deck of Many Things.) That would be useful beyond just the listings. But for all the others, it's just guesses. The answer of the spindle as a standalone is really the only answer here.
Jun 25 18:24
@NobodytheHobgoblin so you asked a question that you really wanted to know the answer for: how can I guarantee or near guarantee a failure for a saving throw. Somewhat answered incorrectly, with just ways to reduce a saving throw, and then you adjust your question to match the answer rather than focusing on the question you actually had. And that question is already been asked before with regard to an NPC target, and I don’t see a difference between the targets. Instead of constantly being a I got what I want attitude maybe go for a how do we make the site the best we can attitude.
Jun 25 18:24
@NobodytheHobgoblin So then now this is just a “how can I reduce a saving throw?” Pretty sure we’ve got that duped.
Jun 25 18:24
There is a difference between reducing success and promoting failure or even closer to guarantee failure. This answer is just a list of protections and not a closer to guarantee in the failure. I don’t believe this answers the question as asked at all he is looking for ways to guaranteed a failure, not a list of things to reduce the roll

I think Thomas also has characters in all the campaigns

I don’t think so if it’s live then it’s live. But if v2blast hasn’t gotten any of the 2024 stuff then that would explain why we don’t have it.
Apr 22 19:03
I think I did stop paying so at some point it’ll probably turn off

I’m also not sure Ive kept it going.
