@DavidRicherby either they weren't, or it weren't their default settings. It means that around the beginning of the 80's, most of screens were able and most common os switch their settings to display lower case. Then the full caps became the "SHOUTING" thing.

4 sicks days in 6 months is a problem ?? To me you might just have a frailer health than other but that's all. Btw wasn't there advertising about covid stuff where if you start to not feeling well, it might be a better idea to not come instead of spreading whatever you have to coworkers ?

Apr 29, 2021 20:51
I love the combination of "Luck has nothing to do with my success, I never envy others' good luck". Make me feel like i'll be treated as a slave without the right to complain that it's the others that will get the reward :D

Apr 22, 2021 11:34
Well for the COVID, I did horribly and I refuse to work from home as long it's possible. So it's possible your stroke is also du to the current state of affair. WFH is leterally not an options for me. However, you are basically late at everything that is not developping asked ? This could be interpreted as being dismissive and passive/agressive which is a huge red flag for a manager. If for some reason you can't do it on time, COMMUNICATE IT, A-L-W-A-Y-S.
Apr 22, 2021 11:34
To what point your producitivity decrease after your conflict with the boss, like you weren't good one afternoon, or for 2 whole weeks ? Honestly, I'm myself not a good communicator and was worst when i start off and yet I wasn't treated how you are (am in France though). It's kinda weird that know you seems fired as a beginner just for communication issues, you're either deeply unlucky or there something more to it, give us actual example of how you really behave with others. Do you tend to react to every remark/disagreement like it's personal ? Do you attack more people than facts ?

It also depend on culture. Good luck getting a job without any degree in France. We love paper here, even if some doesn't prove you actually can do something.

In fact the core of this question (which is not about OP behaviour) seems more like a legal question.

Sep 2, 2019 14:31
@KateGregory Personally I sometimes prepare the boilerplate, but most of the times, I just think without writing anything and perform eventually some google search about technical point. When I come the next day, I already have a clear mind about how I will do it.

Well apart the one hour panel and specific defense stuff (which might have its importance), the rest is a duplicate of workplace.stackexchange.com/questions/88847/…. So you might want to check answers there

Jun 5, 2019 15:21
I don't see specifically distrust there, maybe it's not really well worded but I see more something like some "risk management" where our OP is seeking way to reduce risks of people leaving too easily. And that is in fact what the current answer is answering.

Feb 4, 2019 06:28
Are you also sure that the people you're working with are not in a "give me ze code" mindset ? Or that for whatever (good or wrong reason) they might not have the time to fully understand your document becuase there is always something else going on ? That's might seems a poor excuse but that's still quite common.

Also If the user want to get data from its old laptop he musn't connect a USB device normally. I don't really know if it's secure enough but he could just boot is hard disk with another OS and get his data from there.

Dec 17, 2018 20:01
Well sometimes I find my life boring, but I feel like it's better to have people tell about it than being there :x
Dec 17, 2018 19:49
wow, there sure are some story on interviews:x
Dec 17, 2018 19:08
Hey I have a good one there, a friend were inteviewing candidates, fresh out from school. In the middle of the interview, he passed on the hobby part of the CV, a club of music. So he try to pursue there, the candidate detailled that it's a "fart music club" and he had the honor of a live demonstration. Sometimes I wonder how they filter candidates out of school, he got quite some cases but I think this one is really the best he got.

Usually I mostly check on the day where I can't access chat
Dec 12, 2018 21:55
Between the differents leaving, the history of close votes, the HNQ and Be nice, I was wondering how things are going there
Dec 12, 2018 21:53
@RichardU I wanted to see how things were going into the chat
Dec 12, 2018 20:38
hi, thanks :)
Jun 7, 2017 14:33
@enderland That may depends on the exact job, system, network, dev, administrator ?
Jun 7, 2017 07:59
Note that I am the total opposite, I pretty much excuse myself if I am right on time and not 5mn before.
Jun 7, 2017 07:59
I am not sure if that article is really worth it. I think it's worth sharing it.
Jun 7, 2017 07:58
About the question with asker always late (workplace.stackexchange.com/questions/92147/…), it made me remember the following article psychologytoday.com/blog/thriving101/201411/…

Usually in my country (France) we get paid for day of work, not hours of works. This allow flexible time.

Probably a close-question-downvote-answer bot.

Sep 20, 2018 07:32
Have you anyone else in the company to contact instead employer ? co workers ? Project manager ?

Apr 25, 2018 06:45
@Agent_L You could also make the email the PK, thought I do prefer technical ids.

Apr 12, 2018 14:50
didn't know the cartridge was used as memory, guess my example was flawed. So I'll just keep the end of my previous comment : I think OP mix the weight of your application (the .exe file) with the whole thing (the directory, with images, sounds, ,...). Only the exe need to fit into memory.

Mar 8, 2018 16:04
@Nelson well, my point was more about relying only in competition with others. Unless you're sure he likes that.
Mar 8, 2018 16:04
@AndreiROM such as winning a martial arts tournament there is only one winner, all the rest lose, If you want to talk about more interesting achivments and achivable, talk about belts.

Jan 2, 2018 00:58
@Tinkeringbell otherwise there is the word "rencard" in french, a bit familiar though :)

Dec 13, 2017 18:28
Thanks, your friend only know about LGBT through TV Shows where all characters are exagerated I guess ? Are you LGBT ? Or friendly ? Does he knows it ?

Dec 9, 2017 02:34
@Vlad computers behave like ordinary user your problem lies here, you're not an ordinary user. You're a developer, you need more than an ordinary user.

Dec 1, 2017 13:34
An easy argument : try to generate HTML by hand in a servlet, or use JSP. This is way easier & faster to develop & maintain JSP that HTML hand written in Servlet. And JSP are translated by the server to Java code and then compiled to be executed. Usually source code need to be generated because there is no other way to do what you want in what the language provides you.

Nov 13, 2017 22:25
@Criggie according to OP no, but maybe some of the german teammates.

Nov 9, 2017 10:12
Also, several deadlines in 4 weeks is very odds. Even in agile you're supposed to have enough time to specify, code, tests, validate, deploy, things. Which doesn't take 3 days for a full run.

Nov 7, 2017 21:53
@MathewFoscarini I do differentiate getting drunk and being totally wasted (if it's the right word in English).
Nov 7, 2017 21:53
Their ability to ask intelligent questions and engage in meaningful conversation deteriorated as the interview progressed. Isn't that getting drunk ? If not, what it was then ? Lack of seriousness ?
Nov 7, 2017 21:53
So basically the interview was "come we have beers" ? However I think the title of your question should be updated, it's not the "use of alcohol", but literally "getting drunk in the middle of the interview". I mean if they took just one beer, Surely quite some of us could have ignore or get over it, but getting drunk is totally different.

Oct 17, 2017 14:09
@Marc.2377 Ignoring him won't stop him yes, what will stop him is when his behaviour will turn others against him.

Oct 10, 2017 18:24
@BgrWorker usually it's the role of a repository to read data from an external source and convert it to objects.

Sep 27, 2017 12:50
Kilisi answers is basically what we said to absolutely every others answers : "mind your own business because it may backfire to you". Though I would prefer that sanitary services knows about this place, you always have to think about yourself, if the others coworkers don't give a damn about their health, it's not your fault and you don't owe them to take risks for them.

On the history side, from what I remember, Juives chase in Germany was very easy because before Hitler take the power, the religion of people were mentioned in governent stuff. As such we're now more carefull about what we put in this kind of paper, not because we think the current gouvernment will spy on us, but if something grave happens, and some chase like it happens in WWII happen, they won't have just to search in their own paper to find what they want. (That is the logic, not sure if this is really the state how it is now :)).

Aug 26, 2017 10:46
@Jay you might want to edit your post to reflect what you said on the comment about .. the comments (those in the code). Depending on the problem, the 2 first point could be enough. Of course it depends of the exercice, between implements X algorithm and make your own algorithm the latter will definitively need comments (if we consider he give also a sheet of paper or a Word/Office doc along with the code).

Aug 23, 2017 23:35
@alephzero hackings/bots aren't the kind of project that require 1M lines of codes. 10k LoC seems to be already an elaborate tools for this kind of stuff.

Jul 29, 2017 00:03
@JimmyJames the point of intership is to gain experience. Experience is not only about technical stuff, it's also about to learn how to handle stuff like OP met like that. I would not do a single extra hours for tasks that was set at start to not to be mine, if you really want OP to earn usefull experience, here is one very usefull he can make here : learn to say NO.

Jun 29, 2017 16:08
People aren't interest in excuse when they read comments, they're interested in information, which you provide in the second example.

Jun 28, 2017 11:36
@ItamarGreen I'm not telling you to make them criminal, but to make them realize what bad people can do with it, and not just some bad jokes. You need to make them realize what happens in real life : an application that don't run because of an injection that make it crash can cost millions per hour, if you're the one responsible for that, you will be held accountable.
Jun 28, 2017 11:36
Password stealing and email stealing and explain that once you have both, you can try others site to check if it works and pirate more accounts, corruption of data instead of suppressing them (empty a bank account, fill yours).
