@N.Virgo the focus on consonants and tongue seems peculiar still. IMHO, "human tongue" should not be taken literally. It unnecessarily restricts the answers because there are a lot of conceivable speech production systems without anything like a tongue at all.

All those nice properties make New Zealand indeed appear like a good refuge. However, this makes it actually more likely that someone will set aside a nuke or two just to cover that eventuality ;-)

It is the premise of the question that Mr. A has support by management. If management does not wholeheartedly back a refactoring or reverse-engineering effort, then such efforts are going to fail. But as soon as management turns against Mr. A., then there is indeed very little that Mr. A can do to protect his turf.

@Flater Then the nonsense happens some higher levels up. Even more, the OP cannot do anything about it.

A side note: depending on what model of time travel you ascribe to, bringing along physical currency will result either in the tokens being present multiple times, or create a grandfather paradox if you pass them on to your future self. Similar for information if the time traveller becomes the origin of it. Dunno if these events could cause issues in your world, but it is possible to work around them should that be the case.

@user662852 It might work, or maybe not. If not, a new system will be established (or, rather, in that case, the old one re-established), hopefully with enough political and military support to make it work.

@Amadeus you are right that the discussion about evolution and benefits of intelligence is quite off topic.
Jun 16, 2017 03:28
@Amadeus big brains have very clear benefits though if they make it possible for a leader to dominate their tribe and to find a way to ensure its survival. These are the hallmarks of human intelligence after all: to comprehend and manipulate us and the world around us.

As some answers indicate, it's not really feasible to both make a complete move to electric cars in this half of the century, meet the emission goals and not otherwise f*cking up the environment while doing so. The better goal would be then to increase the efficiency of existing systems while developing alternatives. Gasoline will run out eventually, therefore all of this is a question about schedules.

@Random832 Present-day also are divided into sections by watertight bulwarks. Most safety and emergency features are not that terribly useful in day-to-day operation. And all those minor airlocks and doors just have to hold out long enough until the threat to the outer sections is over.

Also, the defender might decide to depressurise the attacked area on their own to (i) make boarding more difficult and (ii) because it might get depressurised anyways, so why not move the precious air to a safer place beforehand?

@charginghawk Reality is random just at the quantum scale. That's why quantum mechanics is so unintuitive - our brains are dealing with quantum mechanic phenomena only since a century or so. Daily live is largely causal. because all the random variables just even out. Of course, when time travel is involved, causality quickly goes out of the window...

Could you ask the embassy of the destination country to fake a rejection of your VISA application next time you travel? Or give your passport back to the Department of State if nothing works?

You could use a recording device next time they demand it from you.
