yst 21:02
Check out the comparative-Christianity tag below the question. The question itself asks for an overview in its title.
yst 19:12
Here we we have our own specific definition for comparative- christianity tags : For questions seeking comparisons of two or more denominations.
yst 19:12
An overview question must have more than one perspective, not just a Catholic one in its answer. Simply add another perspective and your post is good.
yst 19:12
Overview answers must include two or more perspectives.

This post is excessively long and much coùd be cut out to make it more interesting, readable and understandable. Your pagan philosophers could be absolutely removed as possible predecessors. Hum???

Unfortunately this question is closed. I totally get it. But in a real sense the Devil has a blind spot and I know exorcists that have explained has the Devil’s works and reasons have worked against him and for God’s good. However I will not go on record detailing these events as some victims are still living.

Anne, just reminding all that the question does state: "Answers not presenting the perspective of the Jehovah's Witness will be rejected." sources of official Jehovah’s Witnesses teaching would be performed here.

Jan 15, 2024 21:32
This is an overview (3 denominations is a minimum) question and as such must have supported proofs and links that this post is fulfilling that obligation.

"The Latter-day Saint concept of canon differs from that of other Christians. In addition to the Bible, the Latter-day Saint canon includes the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price." - Historicity and the Latter-day Saint Scriptures
Jan 2, 2024 16:23
@depperm My Ids friends, this question may interest you?
Jan 2, 2024 16:23
Mr. Bond please be more specific about the term bible here. If you ask an Ids question, you have to accept their Scriptures. Questions to Catholics or Orthodox Churches and would have to accept their Duerterocanonical texts. 'Traditional Christianity struggled for many years to define its canon, to determine which of its writings were sacred, inspired, and authoritative. The Latter-day Saint concept of canon differs from that of other Christians. In addition to the Bible, the Latter-day Saint canon includes the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price."

@Hold To The Rod You did nothing wrong, but I would recommend that you try not to engage with those who like to make a fuss in comments. This is a simple review. Pax.

Many Benedictine communities (especially in Europe) make their own wine for mass, their own use and some sell it locally. If you have friends visiting Europe, you may be able to ask them to bring some back for you!

One of the monks of the Grand Chartreuse is a good friend of mine. His family lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Fare warning though, the Green Chartreuse is a very unique strong flavoured liqueur and is an acquired taste. Not everyone likes it. I love the stuff. But that is me. The Trappist ales from Spencer, Massachusetts is quite good too. Pick up is available here!
Apr 27, 2022 20:38
@PeterTurner Most of the Trappist beers are good flavoured ales. Ordering is one possibility of getting hold of some. Another way of obtaining some is by visiting the monastery in question. These monasteries generally limit you on how many cases or bottles you may purchase. I am personally not into beer drinking these days. I have a still good fondness for the Green Chartreuse, which is in effect a liqueur, made from a 120 medicinal herbs.

@LukeHill Never was ordained. Over half of seminary students do not make it to ordination. It is a long process of reflection that is involved.
Jan 31, 2022 22:52
@LukeHill and @PeterTurner I attended a seminary for four years which by the way was also a Benedictine Monastery! Certain perks of this situation is that I am quite willing to answer questions that priests simply beat around the bush on. In any case exmonk is a great handle. I do not see eye to eye with some of the Clergy, but enjoy long and I mean long hikes with priests and seminarians.

@LeeWoofenden it is now reopened and looking forward to your post.

Can we know why God has used his Divine perogatives in specific event with receiving a revelation of some sort?
Nov 10, 2021 16:33
It is impossible to answer as who can truly comprehend why and how God can or should use his Divine Privileges. If others others feel I am misreading something, I will be glad to reopen it.
Nov 10, 2021 16:32
@LeeWoofenden and PeterTurner. Pax. The question as I see it remains opinion based. The subset question (If God has the power and the prerogative to intervene in historical events, then why hasn't God made use of His divine privileges to ensure that the correct doctrine about His nature achieves widespread acceptance?)

A meta post may be of use, but let’s wait a bit. If the wave does not die down the yes.
Jul 18, 2021 04:50
I have done this with questions concerning Catholicism. I have responded only when others seemed uninterested in the topic. Once after that a post author answered his own question which was naturally down-voted. Perhaps it may work for you when you desire to defend a certain perspective. Again do not engage in arguments.
Jul 18, 2021 04:50
@Hold To The Rod Getting late for me. But for now it may be best not to answer certain questions immediately after posting. Wait a few weeks to a month or two and allow the wave to settle.
Jul 18, 2021 04:11
@Hold To The Rod It is fine here. What is on your mind? Others can weigh in too.

The point of all SE is to provide the best acedemic and well researched questions and answers, with the best founded acedemic sources and links possible. To say that "the point of C SE is to provide easily searchable questions and answers, not become a repository for academia" is totally false for this site. We are to strive to obtain the highest acedemic level as possible here in order to maintain the integrity of the SE sites and avoid becoming a forum of discussion and opinions.

Hello, everyone. Dropping in to see everyone!

Aug 25, 2021 18:43
This is simply bad science, in my opinion.

Jul 12, 2021 00:19
@Mr.Bond please avoid making comments that seem to be misconstrued as a personal attack on someone’s reputation or intelligence. Please stick to questions in an intellectual and historical manner.

I believe that there are some that defend some of their doctrines by appealing to extra-biblical evidence from the 1st/2nd century of the early Church, but not all. Doctrines take centuries to ascertain at times. The Catholic Church appeals to this time frame for some of her doctrines but not all.

Jun 7, 2021 14:43
I am not speculating anything, but simply saying other factors may be involved.
Jun 7, 2021 14:39
In 1910, the principal said that the government did not provide enough money to properly feed the students. On December 24, 1924, the girls' wing of the school was destroyed by a fire, forcing 40 students into −10 °C (14 °F) weather in only their night clothes. Three years later, in 1927, a report outlining the conditions at the school concluded that the poor construction of buildings at the school led to "numerous infections, colds, bronchitis, and pneumonia" during the previous winter. See here.

I will pass in making an answer. All the facts are not in. Plus the claim of genocide has to be verified as well as what you define it to be, must be more made clear.
Jun 7, 2021 14:39
There is thought that the children , although not buried in mass graves, but individual graves (confirmed), may have died of various illnesses over several years. Genocide has yet to be proven! If genocide was the intention, why did not all the children die? Not all the Indian Residential Schools were run by the Catholic Church under the direction of the federal government. Other denominations were involved also. Personally, this question has been asked too close to this horrific discovery (May 2021) to be answered factually, at this moment in time!

Mary is the Mother of Jesus who is the Christ. Her womb became a Arc for 9 months!
Feb 7, 2021 18:42
Symbolically, Mary, the Ark of the New Covenant (catholic.com/magazine/print-edition/…).
Feb 7, 2021 18:36
Protestant interpretations as to the meaning also will be different than those of Catholics. We think and believe things differently and more than not will disagree.
Feb 7, 2021 18:23
If Mary is sitting above the Arc to work is genuinely poorly done. Mary has no place to naturally sit in that physical stance!
Feb 7, 2021 18:21
@Mike Borden I know what the web. Says about the description of this statue, but I firmly believe that Mary is standing behind the Arc as in leaning over it almost.
Feb 7, 2021 18:06
@Mike Borden I know what the web says about the description of this statue, but I firmly believe that Mary is standing behind the Arc as in slightly leaning over it. You still claim she is sitting over the Arc. I still question that as this image is very clearly (thecatholictravelguide.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/…) not so.

The whole idea of women priests is a modern phenomenon.
Feb 7, 2021 14:46
When Pope Pius suppressed that image type it was out of fear that it may be taken out of context. Obviously he was right!
