Newtonian gravity is still an effective and very important theory we actively use in physics. The development of a later theory which produces better results and predictions does not invalidate the use of Newtonian gravity in many important circumstances. Theories don't really die, they just become less fundamental. Not predicting new physics does not make a theory any less useful. The fact you are typing (or indeed speaking) your post into a device to post on the internet requires the theory you say is dead. Still looks alive and kicking to me.

I don't know about Switzerland, but I'd be surprised if any similar "night watch" for "safety" reasons would be considered safe in my country, as you're essentially trying to fill a legal requirement with what sound like unvetted and untrained non-staff. Very dubious. This would not impress a court or an insurance company if a claim was made, I imagine. This would be especially relevant if any special category of guest (or volunteer) was involved, like children, or people classed as vulnerable for legal purposes.

Why you are referring to Maxwell's theory (1864) instead of Einstein (1905 and 1915) and quantum electrodynamics (late 1940s on)? You're going backward, not forwards.

You seem determined to post personal theories and ideas and ask for them to be checked or verified. We simply do not do that on this site. It's completely off-topic. Check-my-work, homework-type questions and personal theories are all off-topic.

I really don't see any useful purpose in contacting the old professor. It will either come across as a knife being twisted in or make them more bitter. I'd really just let it alone. For all we know he just parked in the wrong person's spot once too often or messed up someone's lab work and the mentioned incident had nothing to do with it really.

@nielsnielsen I was not aware recovery from engineering was possible. I thought it was terminal in all cases.

Jun 13, 2023 23:04
You can always raise this issue on Mathematics is you want to. I have no idea why you think this is testable. We cannot make thinks with non-zero mass reach the speed of light - that's established physics which no observations contradict.
Jun 13, 2023 23:04
You cannot physically test this as it would require infinite energy. It's a ridiculous idea.

Jun 9, 2023 07:22
@FuzzyBoots Totally unrealistic - no HR department would give in that easily. Very funny.

Storm Troopers can't seem to hit barn doors at ten paces, so, yes, they're missing technology like glasses.

@mobileDev14 I rate metrics very low on my list of important factors and, more importantly, you need to work out the risk. Saving e.g. 5 minutes a day of everyone's time sounds great if it doesn't come at a risk of screwing up an important client's requirements in the future. You also need to factor in the time someone may have to spend on e.g. supporting a new bit of software that implements the change. Everything costs hours and cash.
May 26, 2023 07:29
Keep in mind the expression "If it ain't broke, don't fix it.". Efficiency isn't necessarily a priority over a proven system that everyone understands now. Resistance to process change is not unusual or even necessarily bad.

A downvote is an vote saying that someone feels the question is either not useful to the site or that is shows no effort (prior research by the OP). It's not a stone. If you choose to take them personally then you are thinking of them incorrectly.

May 10, 2023 04:23
The use of comments or questions to debate non-mainstream physics is not appropriate here. It's a mainstream physics site. It's that simple.

At a minimum you should aim to get a first class B.Sc. in Physics. You probably have the ability if you want to use it and that would at least open some doors into possibly teaching and further study. Regardless of what people say about what you describe as the "slightly dissenting" nature of your existing work it does demonstrate some ability beyond average (IMO).

How did you make the leap from a finite speed of light to special relativity being wrong ?

You may need to look at the Ehrenfest Theorem.

"Three new stars. Every year. That's 300 stars in the last hundred years" A tiny proportion of the stars we can observe and they're distributed over the entire Milky Way and we're not even sure how many stars are in the Milky Way by a huge margin of error.

Under some administrations you could try writing to an MP (or your UK friends could) and they could ask the Home Office. However under the current Home Office minister (Priti Patel) this is unlikely to get you very far as she consistently behaves like the most hardline or the hardline, so expect little. Home Office employees just follow the insructions from on high and at the moment they're very right wing instructions.

I have to point out that the speculation is opinion based and the actual event is something th OP clearly is not supposed to know.

@Kregnach You can define a mathematical spacetime with nothing in it, but does that exist ? I would say no. I think if you are talking about a non-trivial universe, it has to have fields, but we lack a complete theory (a "grand unified theory") that can describe such a thing fully, so it's a guess. A field-less universe is what ? It sounds like literally nothing to me.
Dec 5, 2021 21:05
I have voted to reopen as I think it is valid to ask if matter is directly and solely linked to spacetime as there is a conceptual issue here that is not obvious. I do not read the question as non-mainstream or a personal theory.
Dec 5, 2021 21:05
Mass and energy are the source of the gravitational field, but spacetime is not the gravitational field. All fields exist within spacetime. So mass is not the source of the spacetime.

It's hard enough to find a mechanic who can do basic piston engine repairs competently, imagine trying to find one who could repair a turboshaft engine - yikes !

@KeizerHarm The kind of people who can answer a hard science question well will automatically spot the issue I have mentioned and if you omit the reason why it isn't an issue they'll quite possibly ignore the question completely as ignoring things like this doesn't really sit in the typical scientific mind-set.
Nov 8, 2021 11:53
@KeizerHarm I'd suggest adding that info to the body of the question as it may help people look on your question in a more constructive way.

I don't know how water could form in the first place. In our universe the Big bang generated only Hydrogen and Helium. The first generation of stars and later generations generated heavier than Hydrogen elements. Your universe does not seem, to have any mechanism for the creation of Oxygen (in particular).

Machines are not generally made of arbitrary materials that just happen to match what 3D printers can use. In general they require highly specialized materials that themselves require complex industrial scale processing to make, which does not scale down. Making a CPU requires a fabrication factory, specialist materials and a worldwide supply chain to keep it all going. There's a signifcant supply problem with even basic CPUs at present because of a combination of supply chain problems.

@ErdelvonMises I think we could never agree. That's what it means.
Oct 27, 2021 03:27
@ErdelvonMises We'll have to agree to disagree. Although all countries (even my small one) lust after economic domination of the world, American, in all fairness to it, has not exploited it's military capabilities in a hostile way against most of the world (although it has used them during the Cold War in a somewhat negative way). Overall the US has been more positive than negative, even under (most) republicans who are traditionally more hawks than doves.
Oct 27, 2021 03:27
@jamesqf I regard both your position and Erdel von Mises as being somewhat extreme views of the US. There is (and always had been) support for both isolationism and (more or less) US domination (at least supremacy) in the US and all positions in between. That's the thing about millions of people - they hold different views, not one.

@user2617804 In WW2 the Nazis bombed a number of cities during the initial part of the war to great effect. In WW1 the Germans used huge long range artillery to cause terror in Paris. It can alter the political and hence military startegy your enemies employ. Accuracy is noot required.
Oct 27, 2021 03:27
@ErdelvonMises Russia proved to be not at all easy, neveer underestimate them. I do not think capturing France is realistic in the proposed scenario - you need more than airpower, and capturing and holding a country are two very different things. At that time the French as a nation hated the Germans - and would have hated them even more under the scenario proposed.

Just noticed there is a site in beta called Sustainable Living which may be better suited to this- worth checking anyway for anyone interested in this kind of topic.
Oct 21, 2021 19:01
@MoziburUllah This isn't high school and we don't handle individual "engineering-like" cases here - we'd be neck deep in them if we did. That's the site policy. In HS they use individual cases to try and teach the general concepts, to show that such concepts have a practical use. We're mainly focused on physics concepts here, so (IMO) this question isn't suitable. Your interpretation of the policy and/or this question may be different. I've just noticed there is a beta SE called Sustainable Living which might be a better place for this kind of question (maybe).
Oct 21, 2021 19:01
@MoziburUllah "a practical physics problem" = "engineering" :-)
Oct 21, 2021 19:01
This is an engineering question, but note that most hot water "waste" will be dirty and hence it would require extensive cleaning and filtering to safely reuse.

They get resupply of ammo, but can they get a resupply of e.g. radio batteries, or indeed men ? They are bound to have causualties.

@KEY_ABRADE The first time they use foreknowledge of the outcome of a battle or plan to give different advice that is followed, they will change what happens after that and their foreknowledge will cease to be useful.

Sabine Hossenfelder is most definitely not an armchair expert nor is YouTube her primary occupation. I've been studying physics for decades and her explanations are as clear as day compared to most lecturers.
Sep 24, 2021 02:47
This has so much nonsense in it that I'd recommend you get to grips with the basics (overview) of real quantum theory before going further. Here's a link to a video on Sabine Hossenfelder's YouTube channel talking about entanglement. It's one of a short series about Quantum Theory and it requires no physics to grasp. She's a real professional physicist and the whole series is worth viewing.

They aren't being asked by our managers to do this It's quite unusual for cattle to actually open the slaughterhouse door and walk in without prompting. Unless you add some context that explains why they do this extra free work, I don't see how a useful answer can be made.

Sep 17, 2021 20:10
See the check my work policy on Physics Meta SE. The Physics Meta process is how site policies not set by SE itself are developed. It's a democratic process with the most up-voted policies being generally followed when they do not conflict with others.
Sep 17, 2021 20:10
I can only speak for myself. It's site policy to not do check-my-work questions. I won't circumvent that.
Sep 17, 2021 20:10
Your question is in a reopen queue where it can be reconsidered by people and they can vote to reopen (or not). As far as I am concerned the problem remains that you are effectively asking people to check your work. I note this seems to be the same as an answer you made to another question which was voted down as well. Your question could also be interpreted as a personal theory which is also off-topic. The headline "not mainstream" reason is simply one of the reasons to vote to close that the system chose from those given by the five people who voted to close. Your Q has many issues.
Sep 17, 2021 20:10
Moderators do not normally directly close questions. Ordinary members vote to close questions (when they have earned the vote-to-close privilage). This is what happened in your case - no moderators were involved. Moderators normally do not intervene directly to force a question closed. Moderators can vote as normal members.
Sep 17, 2021 20:10
Check my work questions are off-topic here.

@Demigan Building a fantasy world does not mean the OP doesn't have to explain what they want here using clear and unambiguous language. We don't have to reimagine the language for them. If the OP wants an "armed diplomat" then they most definitely do not want a diplomat.
