@AmithKK Not sure what you're referring to… I am an SE employee, if that's what you mean.

@SimonSheehan I think of "name" as a subset of "information"
Oct 26, 2011 00:42
@RebeccaChernoff I know, I know! I was just trying to get a feel for if these really are different things; if they are, no need for a meta q.
Oct 26, 2011 00:39
Question for the room: are separate tags really needed for , , , and ? If not, what would work for all/most?

Don't add speaking engagements—just import from Lanyrd.
Oct 4, 2011 20:27
Well, Ubuntu said they needed their own site, and that's working pretty well for them.
Oct 4, 2011 20:26
@MichaelMrozek Go players—like Chess, Poker, MtG, and others—have said they would not participate on BCG :-(
Oct 4, 2011 20:24
@MichaelMrozek And they overlap with?

Q: Is Stack Overflow a type of game?

JohnBI hope this question isn't perceived the wrong way. I am sincerely interested in hearing some of your thoughts about the title of this post. Sometimes, answering a question on Stack Overflow is an exercise in speed as well as accuracy. If you see a question that isn't answered yet, or doesn't ...

Q: Stackoverflow - The Game

SilenceStackoverflow is a good RPG so far with so called reputation (which I easily decrypted as being xp) But it can become a great RPG. It needs more emphasis every times you make a level. And there should be a few more levels. For example, split the 100 rep level into 2 levels. And there should be t...

@GnomeSlice You think SE isn't a game? ;-)

@GeorgeEdison We agreed that a system message on SO made sense, and he thought a quote would be suitable, so I pointed him here and he grabbed one. Nearly every line of that speech is worth quoting at one point or another.

(that last was not just for Nathan)
Oct 6, 2011 01:10
Take a look at stackoverflow.com

@NathanGreenstein Hang on; Jin's working on something.
Oct 6, 2011 00:44
@garikapati you are welcome.
Oct 6, 2011 00:25
@VxJasonxV If Apple gave him credit for those nine years, why shouldn't we?
Oct 6, 2011 00:23
Which is why I think of it as 35.
Oct 6, 2011 00:23
One of those trivia questions—Jobs had more seniority than anyone else at Apple, because when Apple bought NeXT, his seniority there counted as well.
Oct 6, 2011 00:22
35-9 is 26
Oct 6, 2011 00:21
The first Mac shipped in 1984
Oct 6, 2011 00:20
I'd think more like 33.
Oct 6, 2011 00:20
23? where's that from?
Oct 6, 2011 00:18
Had to do something.
Oct 6, 2011 00:16
ok, better version up
Oct 6, 2011 00:12
Says you're also editing it
Oct 6, 2011 00:12
Who's in charge of setting rights access?
Oct 6, 2011 00:11
sigh thought I was going to be able to update it…
Oct 6, 2011 00:10
thx
Oct 6, 2011 00:09

Which means that @msh210 can now issue invites as well.
Oct 5, 2011 06:37
FYI: Biblical Hermeneutics is now in private beta, and needs help from people who know Hebrew. You'll need an invitation to get in, though. If you didn't commit before the private beta, you can request an invite from anyone with access to the private beta — like, say, me — but first, make sure that your email address is correct on your J.se profile, as that's where I'll send invitations.

Sep 16, 2011 23:14
@IsaacMoses That is a different separate issue.
Sep 16, 2011 23:14
@IsaacMoses Right now, if you go to askdifferent.com, you're redirected to apple.se. They don't want that; they want it the other way around.
Sep 16, 2011 22:52
@IsaacMoses Well, the same people make both decisions, so I'd classify that as highly unlikely.
Sep 16, 2011 22:10
@yydl The emphasis from on high right now is on branding stackexchange.com, so sites officially moving to other domains is currently looked upon unfavorably. Which has displeased askdifferent.com, but what can you do…
Sep 16, 2011 22:05
People are used to .com—anything else is near-useless.
Sep 16, 2011 22:03
@IsaacMoses We are not anywhere near that size (sadly). I think there's only a single private company that does have its own TLD.
Sep 16, 2011 21:57
@HodofHod If we do, could someone let my mortgage company know? ;-)
Sep 16, 2011 21:54
@HodofHod If only the Jews did control the banks… (just joking, honest, please, really, just joking!)
Sep 16, 2011 21:46
Sadly, no one has offered SE that kind of investment!
Sep 16, 2011 21:10
