There are such launch technologies already. But still require a second level booster. And launch straight up as far as I can see. See spinlaunch.com

@Mark I can't know what people believe in, but one possible explanation is that the whole process of evolution resulting into human beings is described as forming man from the "dust of the ground". I think you shouldn't expect to read the Bible as a scientific paper.

@pie, math defines models that can be used to describe parts of the physical world. Given a system which given set of axioms are valid for, we can define theorems and calculate stuff. And usually the model is not 100% matching the reality. In this sense what is objective about math? In life, there can be many opinions. You can apply the scientific method yourself to verify these opinions while staying open to accept both possible outcomes. Even in religion you can apply the scientific method. Also not all problems are solvable by logic (proven by math) - one has to develop intuition also.

@bdb484, nobody competent would tell him this. Why should he believe random people telling him this? It would be really hard for him to get legitimate information about this in a lawful way. Which should work to his advantage in this case.

How can he know that the system taking his name is broken? The data is not harmful. The system could be harmed by this data. Some systems may crash just because of entering a long name.

If you are into meditation in the nature, you can try to feel that you are one with the surrounding and this is your home. The nature protects you and you protect it. You/we are one. Moreover you are the most dangerous being around. Given that you go to run despite your fears, it sounds like things are not beyond control. Try not to submit to the fear but even slow down or stop and contemplate these ideas. Most likely soon you will desensitize and even feel very good.

@NotThatGuy,

I was mostly disagreeing with your analogy that is not quiet right. Better analogy would be that you worked a lot on your part, but the other colleague figured out a way his part wasn't truly needed or could be substituted easily with another existing part which as a side effect saves a lot of other resources like QA and maintenance costs. I was very proud of myself once at my job when I convinced everybody to drop an option, because of big effort saved and even positive consequences for us if we do so? (another good example https://www.buzzmaven.com/old-engineer-hammer-2/)

> having as much "fun" as possible

If you forbid any clever approach because of some synthetic rules that make little to no sense, that would be the opposite of fun for me.

@NotThatGuy
Why is it bad to hack life. This is what's interesting for me. I say "hack" in a good sense (what was the original meaning of the word). Not to cause harm to others but to make from the impossible situation possible. Or figure out ways to do things much easier and quicker than how they were previously done.

And education is exactly this. We get educated so we can use the laws of nature to our and other's advantage, create tools and so on.

In your perfect world, instead of inventing a tractor, should everybody manually plow the earth?

@NotThatGuy

> A more directly analogy would be that you work together on a project, you do your part really well, only to be told someone else in the group aced their part of the work because they drew a pretty picture

doesn't really make sense. Yes, sometimes you put a lot of effort but your colleague hacks the system and achieves a better result with less time and effort. That's life. There are different approaches to life and all they have pros and cons. Do you expect to live in a synthetic perfect world?

I never played this game. But I hope some laws will be created to require releasing everything needed to run the game when company discontinues it.

@gerrit, this happened to me as a novice driver and I was actually hit by the backing car. I just couldn't find the horn quick enough. Since then I learned to be very quick.. I guess this rule is to stop cars to use horn in traffic jams. But I don't care about the written rule if I see any danger. Also this is a US rule, not universal as you stated.

See Peter's answer. By your answer it sounds like singing Ariana Grande under the shower is unlawful. Which probably wouldn't be that bad.

Why did you vaccinate if you're going to fear interacting with others? Vaccinated people also can carry the virus so it makes no sense to me - to treat unvaccinated person as a pest spreader. And also I can't understand how attributing something to religion is more credible than personal conviction..but that's more about existing laws I guess.

@lila, makes sense, that's the reason I don't have a cat atm. Not suitable where I live.

Then don't let your children out so it can live longer. Are you using your pets as a toy? They also have their own development and lessons to learn.

@DavidSchwartz, People that operate the software is "everybody that runs the software". It is totally voluntary basis. It is as much you or I as much as anybody else. There is no entity to make or enforce the rules. AFAIK nobody set rules for you to join the network. People think that they own something because they believe nobody else can operate with their tiny number in the blockchain. If this premise is not true, then nobody would believe in that value anyway. If a method is discovered to recover private keys, that would mean the whole value of all bitcoins will in an instant become 0.
Apr 22, 2020 01:16
@Lag, some people may name tree leaves as "funds". I think the question needs to be tried on a very high level court or new laws created to make situation clearer.
Apr 22, 2020 01:16
@Lag, there are no actual funds. There are some numerical values in a public database that is not formally ruled by anything. These databases have been forked and modified without government regulations. Why shall government interfere if somebody finds a way to modify this database that nobody knew possible? On the other hand there might be some more generic law that comes in place based on person's intention.
Apr 22, 2020 01:16
There is no gain of access to a program or data. Data is all public. The ownership of some virtual number stored somewhere on the internet is a very strange concept for and no doubt for the law. Ownership of a private key is also a strange concept. You own it if you know it basically. I think there might be other more generic laws about intentions and actions that may apply though.

@James_pic, this was your decision to use such trust approach. Exchanging keys without direct secure communication with the other party is a complicated thing. But the important question is, how exactly can blockchain make this easier and/or more secure. If you know such approach, then you may make a lot of money. My suggestion is to post your approach for review as a new question and collect feedback. There is no point in doing discussion in comments without any actual proposal.
Jun 14, 2018 14:48
@James_pic, maybe you need to read-up more about gpg. And about blockchain I even don't know where to start. But try imagining the whole thing from the ground up and soon you will see where the issues lie.
Jun 14, 2018 14:48
@James_pic, you can keep a revocation cert offline and use it if key is stolen or lost. You can use sub-keys, etc. Perhaps there can be some convention for revocation in a blockchain. But why the added complexity, what would be the benefits, privacy concerns, etc.?
Jun 14, 2018 14:48
@James_pic, too bad if your key is stolen, then you lose your account. Unlike gpg or even if you use plain password. Not a substitute for 2FA too. There is also OpenID if you want to control how things work for yourself. Blockchain inferior is any aspect.
Jun 14, 2018 14:48
Of course everything can be solved by a blockchain .. and then you have bigger privacy issues. Why would you need a blockchain for login history?

Feb 15, 2018 18:57
Because your gf didn't own the car, isn't the theft from the lease provider? I think you should go to a real good lawyer real quick instead of spending time on stackexchange. I assume a lot depends on your jurisdiction. Also something to consider is wasn't lease provider responsible to inform your gf about lack of insurance?
