For all you Super Users out there. You have backups, right?

@Criggie Ya, I actually use an app that scans the barcode (or QR code or whatever code) and reproduces it. I use that in place of 95% of my loyalty cards

So you could do the baseball method, or the "fish tape" method. Either way, when you pull from multiple boxes at a time, use electrical tape and make sure every other cable is a couple inches from the end of the next one (to create almost an arrow-like formation). You could try a cross bow, but it's not something I'm recommending
Jul 11 20:48
@Criggie Baseball, electrical tape around the ends of the cable, and throw it with lots of slack in the line. I've used fishing poles (the wire kind), but they're annoying unless you're doing a lot at one time, and are overkill for one-off runs. I've heard of people using RC cars, but never saw it myself

When there's a budget... I'll get a new router and server. Still rockin' the old AMD E-350 mini-ITX mobo with 4x2TB WD Red drives and 8 GB of DDR2 RAM... But it's light on power and noise
Jun 16 01:20
On Friday, I was helping a co-worker setup a print server at one of his sites, remotely... And I forgot one important note that I put in my instructions... I just failed to follow my own advice
Jun 16 01:20
I know it's not foolproof (as evidenced on Friday for myself), but it's at least a start
Jun 15 18:41
Are you documenting your journey so you don't repeat the mistakes next time?
Jun 11 20:05
Omg, I just noticed what your avatar was, Criggie.... Lol, good one
Jun 11 15:23
To tell the difference between a scientist and a labouror, ask them to pronounce "unionized"

> Network Unlock requires Windows Deployment Services (WDS) in the environment where the feature will be utilized. Configuration of the WDS installation isn't required. However, the WDS service must be running on the server.
Jun 2 19:32
Ahhh. Ya, that sucks then. At least someone isolated the egress before you got there
Jun 2 19:19
I miss old XP machines :P Have you tried seeing if you could virtualize it?
Jun 2 03:18
@Criggie What are you learning in AD?
May 29 22:43
Sign up as a developer?
May 28 21:54
Lol, got it :) Never heard that one before
May 28 20:33
RUD? I can't find an acronym for that? And doesn't nginx have a -t parameter to check the config files?
May 21 19:48
What browser?
May 20 18:19
"Cloud" means accessed over the untrusted Internet. "Private" can be on-prem (accessed within your org only or over the Internet) or in another data center (but you maintain all access and control to the system).
May 9 21:18
Ha - I think the person who commented a mistake on my 14 year old post downvoted it too
May 6 18:31
Got a comment about an answer I posted 14 years ago that the program I suggested doesn't meet the requirements.... But the answer right below suggesting the same app was untouched
Apr 20 03:17
Howdy
Apr 10 17:22
I disable all Chrome notifications, even for my users at work. Too many "Your computer is infected! Click here to fix it" notifications, especially in the middle of, say Canva presentations
Apr 10 17:00
Sometimes, people just don't want to advance their products the way the consumers ask
Apr 8 18:33
It happens. Glad it's up and running though!
Apr 6 18:21
No...?
Mar 22 02:09
Usually, most systems I've used will prefer the discrete card, but should be configurable through the BIOS
Mar 21 18:30
Welcome to the new comers! Would be great if this chat got popular again
Mar 16 18:01
So you can either jumper it (normally closed), or disable it within the BIOS for future
Mar 16 18:00
@JourneymanGeek So the Case Open jumper near the TPM
Mar 15 18:08
Usually, a momentary-switch attached to the case. Typically, two wires going back to the mobo. If it's not hooked up, then the setting in the BIOS should not be enabled... Otherwise, it'll always assume a chassis intrusion.

The BIOS should also have a log of these attempts; you could see if that lines up with the times you noticed it
Mar 15 17:51
@JourneymanGeek Is the sensor hooked up, or is it always open?
Feb 18 17:42
@barlop Cause of a feature of FAT - they deleted the first character of a filename, and that marked it as deleted. Undelete would just look for files with a missing first letter (and that's why you have to tell it what the first letter is to undelete it)
Jan 29 23:07
I thought the forbidden pleasure was to melt all the solder into a muffin tin :P
Jan 20 19:04
One that you can control both internal and external interfaces with. A Linux or BSD-based router would likely be what you want if you're tracing traffic. For viewing traffic, you gotta be a bit more specific what you're trying to read, as some things are impossible without more info
Jan 14 23:12
That's better
Jan 14 22:58
@JourneymanGeek Gonna post my instructions on my blog. Let me know if it works for you or if I skipped a step
Jan 10 23:41
Alright, I'll work on it next week (work week is done in a few minutes)
Jan 10 20:59
@JourneymanGeek Just re-read this - do you want me to write up what I did to get it working?
