hi Thomas, I still don't have tag synonym privileges here but I noticed today that we could probably synonymize the tag machine with equipment as well

Try you high prof ppl but still check the market outside in parallel. I make the mistake of staying too long when I should leave way too often.

maybe you should start a youtube channel and see where it goes. Who knows, maybe you can live off that one day

I'm having same same but slightly different. If you stay in this situation for too long it can lead to stress, health issues, waste of your potential.

I had a colleague also extremely under appreciated in a high position after many years in the company. Once zrp gave up and put zrpself out instantly things got better: zrp got many job offers in better positions and with better pay, network partners praising zrp work, etc.

@joojaa it sounds like you're undervalued at your current job. Signs:
- you know more than your peers
- your boss has a different view about what you should be doing at work
- your clients see more of your potential than your boss does
If you can't find a way to change your role officially, can't find satisfaction with what you're supposed to do, or can't do what you want and ignore what your boss wants you to do, I strongly suggest you start searching elsewhere. That _has_ to be a better place for you.

@PieBie oh cool, so it's a VM.
do you prefer to upgrade the whole thing at once (like a laptop) or do you have a desktop? I had desktops before but I feel there's so much hardware choices lately that's kinda overwhelming... I'm also not sure if it's cheaper at the end to just replace a card every now and then or to get higher specs and change the whole system at once after a few years (like with a mac laptop)

Nowadays I mostly use mac for work. I'm ready to make the jump if I can run my windows stuff to a VM. @PieBie Do you use windows10?

that's the thing, I've been using both for the past 20 years too... I usually like mac hardware better (in that it's more integrated with the OS, it has a few apps that I prefer) but Win is cheaper... Also my games... I'm not sure I'm ready to let go of windows for good...

I'm in a bit of a dilemma and need some opinions...
my un-dead laptop is about to die a slow and painful unsupported death (yes it's a 10 year old Win7 machine) and I think it's time to upgrade. I use it to work and sometimes gaming (nothing too heavy, I'll leave that to my console). So what do you think?
Should I get a macbook pro (and run my Win games in a VM) or screw apple and stay windows? Is a new mac worth the money? Should I forget my hate of Win10 and get a lenovo or Dell for example? How do you guys do your upgrades?

@Vikas AFAIK you can boil potatoes without peeling (I always do and I believe it preserves more of the texture / flavor / nutrients). Cut potatoes should be fine, but I boil them whole for the same reason I don't peel them. Some types of potato will release more starch, absorb more water or disintegrate so that's up to your personal taste.

So, not overrated, that's what I came to say. That specific reflective wall mockup seems to have come from a template psdsuckers.com/3d-glass-window-logo-mockup

@Vikas it comes from needing to make a realistic mockup, probably from signage. When you're building a physical logo to be installed on a real wall you need to present to the client for approval before the actual fabrication happens. So you might need a high-fidelity model to show your client. Somewhere along the way other designers started riffing off the idea to use as just logo presentations.

about the WIP I think it should be on the Looking glass or meta... but then indeed won't get as much exposure. Maybe we should have a separate stack for design WIP? So each submission would be a question, where people can reply with comments or answer with an image, making it easier to track comments? But then the GD.sE and Looking glass...

That's a weird discussion. Why are you feeling pain for other people? Have you talked to Mr.Online before assuming he/she was feeling any unfairness happened? Why not just take the higher road, be the example to the rest of us just give your compliments and move on? Instead of calling people out for not being a bit more pleasant. I bet a lot of people didn't even see that election results were out - me included.

perhaps you should not add designs you consider as minimalism but first ask/try to understand what is widely considered minimalism in art and design

@Vikas I don't see any controversy... you asked which is better, different people will always have different opinions. I do think your monogram is quite cool, weight balanced or not. It does the job well: I easily see the VK even before reading the question, it's clear enough even in small sizes.

@Vikas I actually like the monogram with the current color. I don't see how the new color conveys anything related to skills differently from the current one. The rest is as Vincent said (also pretty cool monogram)
