@JoelDamien You'll hopefully get to Bali soon!
Jun 10, 2020 12:25
@monkeyzeus Would you be okay with dissociating your account from the question OR redacting further? Here's the guidance on question deletion requests: travel.stackexchange.com/help/…
Jun 24, 2018 01:16
Just voted too, 3 days to go!

@Belle-Sophie Keep the evidence or a log or notes of conversations with the hotel (electronic is better). Most banks and card companies will have procedures for "chargebacks" in case of a dispute but if Booking.com fixes it, then you don't have to deal with that.
Jun 15, 2018 07:24
I remember I think it being one of our suggestions for the name of this site way back haha
Jun 15, 2018 07:23
I am totally down for changing our entire branding to Hippetrail
Jun 13, 2018 21:13
Oh yeah I actually don't remember. Maybe it's for complex queries only?
Jun 13, 2018 20:48
SEDE?
Jun 9, 2018 12:28
@gagravarr I've had similar situations with GWR where they reclassified the train or had wifi down. Took aaaaaaaages to get compensation but they did cough up after months of back and forth (their email support is exceptionally slow). Use resolver.co.uk - they only really responded when I was about to ratchet up the complaint to Transport Focus.

The worst tasting boarding passes are those from Tiger Airways: horrible, grey recycled receipt paper. Yuck.
May 18, 2018 20:44
One could almost say I ate it up
May 18, 2018 20:44
@ZachLipton When Apple announced Passbook and airlines started offering it, that was such a "But but this changes EVERYTHING" day for me haha
May 18, 2018 20:36
Also I have a general confession to make: the reason I prefer online checkins and mobile boarding passes (rather than paper boarding passes I can collect from the airport) is because...I have a habit of eating paper and had times when I've eaten my boarding pass on particularly boring layovers. 🙈
May 18, 2018 20:34
@JimMacKenzie Thought I'd continue here: so yeah when I use the airline-specific PNRs, they all throw me over to BA. Dang integrated (but not enough) Oneworld carriers! [shakes fist]

Among other scenarios when votes get readjusted
Mar 10, 2017 01:40
Yes, it felt jarring the first time it happened for me too. :) Happens randomly every now and then when accounts (often suspended users or spammers) get taken down.
Mar 10, 2017 00:45
@Dorothy Seems to "downvotes" are due to invalidated votes from an unrelated user. No evidence of concerted downvoting as far as I can see on mod tools. Let's not start witchhunts here. :)

@GayotFow Was about to restore your comment but the question itself is deleted now.
Aug 31, 2016 14:23
Google Translate can translate photos as well
Aug 31, 2016 13:38
I almost missed a flight once trying to find snake
Aug 31, 2016 13:37
the food markets are amazing!
Aug 31, 2016 13:34
how's Taiwan?
Aug 31, 2016 13:34
hahahahaha
Aug 31, 2016 13:20
Momos and a lot of spicy sauce I can't handle
Aug 31, 2016 13:15
Just got back from Nepal!
Aug 31, 2016 13:14
Hello hippietrail!
Aug 31, 2016 12:38
so it's often last resort to have Community Wikis
Aug 31, 2016 12:38
Travel.SE / SE in general is a QA site first rather than a wiki
Aug 31, 2016 12:37
For say South Korea, would be good to monitor if we're getting a high volume of similar queries.
Aug 31, 2016 12:37
Generally we try to look at volumes, i.e., UK visas and Schengen we tend to get a LOT of very similar / dupe like questions. (There's a meta discussion going about forming a Community Wiki for them.)
Aug 31, 2016 12:31
true, it's best form to comment - I'd recommend chat here actually, since otherwise the comments section just devolves into an extended chat
Aug 31, 2016 12:27
so yes it's possible that people clicked Leave Open without leaving a comment
Aug 31, 2016 12:27
It doesn't give the option to leave a comment directly through that process - it's meant for quick reviews
Aug 31, 2016 12:26
@mts When questions are reviewed in the queue for close / open via this link travel.stackexchange.com/review
Aug 31, 2016 11:27
the automated message says "moved" when it should say copied
Aug 31, 2016 11:27
The wording is a bit weird yeah
Aug 31, 2016 10:43
Can someone help me with a community effort to delete the tag?
Aug 31, 2016 10:43
So about the above
Aug 31, 2016 10:43
Ankur, could you go ahead and delete the tag then? I presume this is "word of god" from the mods so there's no more need to discuss this matter. @hippietrail If the mods are inactive let's go ahead and do a manual cleanup — JonathanReez 15 hours ago
Aug 31, 2016 10:43
Hey all I'm back!
May 12, 2016 10:05
but even in India it's a fashion accessory
May 12, 2016 10:04
because traditionally it was a symbol of a woman's fertility, when she gets married etc
May 12, 2016 10:04
@HeidelBerGensis Personally, I don't but for some people it does. At music festivals as well people bear such "bindis" it's considered to be cultural appropriation
May 9, 2016 18:15
I already know what they mean, just thought it would be interesting question for those who didn't
May 9, 2016 18:14
@HeidelBerGensis Would you like to expand the comment and make it an answer? :)
May 9, 2016 18:04
Recognition (or the lack of it) is not always mutual
May 9, 2016 18:04
I guess but I would perhaps want them to clarify whether it's because someone coming to france or going from france to X
May 9, 2016 17:02
@mts @CMaster yep already done!

Oct 9, 2016 18:39
@Fiksdal The wording StackExchange is quite confusing in these scenarios, as it does leave the original comments behind rather than "moving" them in the sense of deleting the originals. It's meant to encourage any further conversations to happen in this chat room, rather than actually removing the original thread.
