These articles about mercury in vaccines are preying upon lack of knowledge. When we read "X contains mercury" we must ask what that means before we can conclude it is toxic. For example: chlorine is a poison too, but sodium chloride (AKA table salt) is necessary for you to survive. So is table salt is poisonous? Yes! But about 50 times less poisonous than pure chlorine. Same with mercury: it is poisonous, but Thimerosal isn't mercury. It is a mercury compound that is 75 times less poisonous than mercury chloride. And you get injected with a tiny amount of it. It's in there for a reason too...

The PM may be thinking "How do you know your team isn't capable of a velocity of X+1 unless you occasionally take on X+1 points and see?" Some teams fall into a comfort zone where they keep doing X points, even though they are capable of doing more. Although perhaps I am giving the PM credit for more scrum knowledge than they seem to have.

Ask yourself why you assign homework. Is it merely for the student's own benefit as practice? If so, why do you grade it? Would it be different if a student got straight As on the homework but failed all the tests? If so, why?
