Root Access

For all you Super Users out there. You have backups, right?
Aug 18, 2021 14:48
heh,,, Yeah I did a full reinstall and haven't seen it since but it also only bluescreened twice in a week before that so i'll have to see, honestly at this point I'm more curious why I can't seem to tab back into fullscreen processes from desktop / tabbing into anything is weird and wonky
Aug 18, 2021 14:43
so far the games that have repeatedly bluescreened me are gunfire reborn and spiral knights, must be something about cutesy aesthetics that my pc is just allergic to
Aug 18, 2021 14:43
@Michael could an overheating component not even lead to a WHEA bsod?
Aug 18, 2021 14:25
indie games / weird low budget MMOs and the like
Aug 18, 2021 14:25
Weirdly though my bluescreens have only ever happened on extremely resource un-intensive games
Aug 18, 2021 14:24
Yeah, afaik 80c is a safe temp for the card and it goes through some pretty strenuous stuff, I'm more just wondering if the airflow is poor going by the time it takes to return to idle [30-35c]. And yeah I've been checking the gpu temp ingame and it steadily rises to 81 but never goes a degree above that, and 81 is the throttle temp set on the card
Aug 18, 2021 14:04
would that not depend on the workload though? It throttles at 80c but until then it just renders more frames idk
Aug 18, 2021 13:33
hello, if i may ask one final dumb question before i stop staining the chatroom: what is a healthy time for my gpu to cool from temps from high workload [80c] to idle [currently seeming to be 40c]
Aug 18, 2021 10:54
I think I'll just call an exorcist
Aug 18, 2021 10:47
but like when I click an application there's more than one instance of on taskbar, it does nothing
Aug 18, 2021 10:47
I haven't tested a fullscreen game yet though because idk if that's a good idea with only base graphics drivers
Aug 18, 2021 10:46
@Bob howdy, I removed everything nvidia but the weird alt tabbing behaviour is still around
Aug 16, 2021 17:49
of the latest version again?
Aug 16, 2021 17:36
interestingly / terrifyingly enough I cannot seem to even open nvidia control panel, had to use geforce experience lmao
Aug 16, 2021 17:36
471.68
Aug 16, 2021 17:36
Okay sorry some irl stuff came up
Aug 16, 2021 15:47
im just redownloading geforce
Aug 16, 2021 15:33
although im a bit confused as to it saying the date was 8/5/2021, since i updated the drivers like 3 days ago
Aug 16, 2021 15:33
30.0.14.7168
Aug 16, 2021 15:32
sec ill just use dxdiag
Aug 16, 2021 15:32
:|
Aug 16, 2021 15:32
would love to tell you but i can't get to my desktop
Aug 16, 2021 15:31
Ah
Aug 16, 2021 15:28
pretty sure my brain ends at the stem
Aug 16, 2021 15:28
I would tell you but in a flash of genius i uninstalled geforce experience hoping that would fix something
Aug 16, 2021 15:27
Nvidia
Aug 16, 2021 15:26
I should also probably get those spider webs out of my pc case B^)
Aug 16, 2021 15:26
okay that very well may be it then! thank you i'll give it a shot if it happens again
Aug 16, 2021 15:26
Oh, I didn't know, I guess it just does it every now and then then
Aug 16, 2021 15:25
fair!
Aug 16, 2021 15:24
@Bob Oh also maybe I miscommunicated, what I was asking is if it was possible to have a game assigned to a faulty part of the hard drive itself that referencing would cause issues with, I'm completely clueless as to low level stuff though
Aug 16, 2021 15:22
question: could antivirus cause this?
Aug 16, 2021 15:21
the graphics ones I mean, which would confuse me a bit as to being the source of this, I'll give it a try though
Aug 16, 2021 15:21
so it may be the drivers but they don't autoupdate im 99% sure
Aug 16, 2021 15:21
I did do that beforehand, I had both cpu and gpu maxed out for a good 20+ minutes and nothing happened
Aug 16, 2021 15:18
Aug 16, 2021 15:17
and ah sorry i forgot lemme do that now
Aug 16, 2021 15:17
This basically only ever seems to have happened with games on my D:/ drive, and particular games at a time that were installed relatively soon relative to each other. Could it be a faulty section of memory on my hard drive?
Aug 16, 2021 15:16
I have an idea but let me know if it's completely idiotic
Aug 16, 2021 15:16
Thanks! Idk if I'd call it recurring or not, since its been like half a year since i was getting these issues before
Aug 16, 2021 15:16
oh
Aug 16, 2021 15:16
how would I go about doing that?
Aug 16, 2021 15:15
I'm at a loss :^(
Aug 16, 2021 15:15
I updated my graphics driver after this issue started popping up and it didn't fix it
Aug 16, 2021 15:14
i just type kb in the windbg input field?
Aug 16, 2021 15:13
like if I have two instances of chrome open, clicking it on taskbar does nothing, and if i tab out of any fullscreen application to desktop I can't tab back in. Probably completely unrelated though
Aug 16, 2021 15:12
but this and other weird issues have popped up after last windows update it feels
Aug 16, 2021 15:12
Sort of? I had this issue before, ran memtest and cpu stress tested etc, eventually restored to fresh install of windows and it was fine
Aug 16, 2021 15:09
"!analyze -v"
Aug 16, 2021 15:09
yeah
