@trichoplax Well thanks for looking at any rate. My guess now is a bad installation somewhere. But I haven't had the time to take a look and probably won't get back to it for a while yet.
Oct 15, 2015 23:48
there's some time travel for some reason, and the guy's best friend is a talking pie
Oct 15, 2015 23:46
well I don't think I can improve that one
Oct 15, 2015 23:45
ah
Oct 15, 2015 23:44
guess I'll have to think of something else for back to the future day
Oct 15, 2015 23:43
wouldn't working with UTC be somewhat of a challenge?
Oct 15, 2015 23:43
hmmm
Oct 15, 2015 23:43
I'm not sure if "output no if before given date otherwise yes" has been a challenge before, but I'm going guess maybe

A: Sandbox for Proposed Challenges

StatusIs Marty McFly here yet? Inspired by this post Back to the Future day is almost upon us. That is, the day that Marty McFly travels thirty years into the future thirty years ago is almost here. So your job is to make some code that informs the user when that is. For this, your code when run sh...

I put something in the sandbox, got downvoted with no explanations. Not sure how to improve it or if it's already been done
Oct 15, 2015 01:07
I'm thinking its UTC, but I'm not sure
Oct 15, 2015 01:06
what would be more challenging? checking the time based on the computers local time, or UTC time?
Oct 10, 2015 02:36
well alright then
Oct 10, 2015 02:32
this number really confuses me
Oct 10, 2015 02:32
I've impacted 2k people already, but I've only been here a week
Oct 10, 2015 01:35
@Doorknob I've wondered what that number really means, but in your case it likely is how many people tried open you
Oct 10, 2015 01:24
if you haven't seen it yet

Q: Element names above 118

StatusIUPAC in their insufferable wisdom have created a systematic element name for any newly created element. This is the temporary name of an element until they finally make up their minds about an actual name. It works like so: each digit of an element number is assigned a prefix based on its value....

Oct 10, 2015 01:24
since everyone is naming the their score by its element name
Oct 10, 2015 01:23
... now I want to know what its score would be for my recent challenge
Oct 10, 2015 01:21
just one long string of zeros
Oct 10, 2015 01:21
yikes
Oct 10, 2015 01:19
that'd probably be terrible
Oct 10, 2015 01:19
code
Oct 10, 2015 01:19
is there a language that only accepts one character?
Oct 10, 2015 01:13
guess I now have to send my bother some trash in the mail
Oct 10, 2015 01:10
...and it expired over a year ago
Oct 10, 2015 01:10
that doesn't exist in this state
Oct 10, 2015 01:10
...which only contains a coupon to a movie theather
Oct 10, 2015 01:09
oh how nice, my bother sent me a letter in the mail
Oct 10, 2015 01:07
I'd end up backspacing the whole thing and typing it out again
Oct 10, 2015 01:06
that'll lock your computer right up
Oct 10, 2015 00:39
it must rhyme with with
Oct 10, 2015 00:38
I'll have to flesh it out and maybe get some input after that
Oct 10, 2015 00:37
but the code must look like a block of text
Oct 10, 2015 00:37
I have an idea about some text generator that'd be a popularity contest
Oct 10, 2015 00:28
you'd likely need several image examples for people to try
Oct 10, 2015 00:27
I'd say its feasible based on other image processing challenges
Oct 10, 2015 00:25
its image processing right?
Oct 9, 2015 23:47
that works out to some 18 and a half hours
Oct 9, 2015 23:45
or any 11% of the week
Oct 9, 2015 23:45
so productivity traded for the first 11% of the week
Oct 9, 2015 23:43
whatever that means
Oct 9, 2015 23:43
on the other hand, I'm apparently top 11% this week
Oct 9, 2015 23:41
Well my productivity has gone down thanks to this site.
Oct 6, 2015 15:49
@trichoplax It also fails for orthallelous.files.wordpress.com/2015/10/milky_way1.jpg (3008x2000) as the input and orthallelous.files.wordpress.com/2015/10/moon_500mm_crop.jpg (1358x1358) as the key. If saved as pngs it still fails. Using these images as examples because they're online so you can access them. If they work for you then I'll be really confused as I did not edit the code in any way, just copy and paste.
Oct 6, 2015 15:49
@trichoplax It fails for orthallelous.files.wordpress.com/2015/08/mirage.jpg (990x319) as the input image with orthallelous.files.wordpress.com/2015/08/closed.jpg (313x389) as the key image.
Oct 5, 2015 03:55
well that joke fell flat, guess I'll show myself out
