@belacqua hey, I was looking over some of my favs and I still have your questions about wireless... does it still happen?
May 18, 2012 20:05
what do you get if you run this command: ls /dev/sd*
May 18, 2012 20:05
@GevorgHindoyan well that isn't good :/
May 18, 2012 19:53
ok, you should be able to run this in the command line to see if it can: sudo fdisk -l
May 18, 2012 19:52
@GevorgHindoyan cool, while in the live CD, can it see your HDD?
May 18, 2012 19:51
@GevorgHindoyan you are using a live CD correct?
May 18, 2012 19:50
@GevorgHindoyan you trying to complete a clean install of Ubuntu 11.10?
May 18, 2012 19:49
@GevorgHindoyan already here ;)
May 17, 2012 19:19
@Alvar nice answer there!
May 16, 2012 23:42
but you said that the windows to windows machines work so we know that part works
May 16, 2012 23:38
@sadmicrowave troubleshooting it to see if its Linux not sending over the correct credentials or is it Windows just doesn't want to accept what the Linux machine is asking
May 16, 2012 23:37
@sadmicrowave correct
May 16, 2012 23:09
because you don't have a domain/username and password
May 16, 2012 23:08
you are going to get it because windows is denying it ;)
May 16, 2012 23:05
thats what I wanted to see if you can do ;)
May 16, 2012 23:05
but he was able to mount a partition without any security on the mount - -o sec=none
May 16, 2012 23:03
sounds like that bug was fix in 2011
May 16, 2012 23:01
hmmmmmmmmm
May 16, 2012 23:00
maybe... but since 'error 13' talks about permissions and since a username and password helps you get those permissions, we need to make sure that it isn't the username/password you have stored in /etc/.na02passwd
May 16, 2012 22:57
@sadmicrowave Can you setup the windows share to not use a username? I haven't used windows in awhile and thats were I would start to see if its a windows or linux problem ;)
May 16, 2012 22:40
did you change anything when it comes to credentials on the windows machine? Can anyone just mount the directory without any username/password?
May 16, 2012 21:59
that means its working and that will just be good for your system as a whole :P
May 16, 2012 21:59
good
May 16, 2012 21:57
now you need to reboot your linux machine
May 16, 2012 21:57
good, that means it worked
May 16, 2012 21:57
The command touch just makes an empty file on your system
May 16, 2012 21:56
did that return anything?
May 16, 2012 21:56
type this: ls /forcefsck
May 16, 2012 21:55
;)
May 16, 2012 21:55
welcome
May 16, 2012 21:55
@JorgeCastro Done
May 16, 2012 21:54
after that, you will need to reboot the machine
May 16, 2012 21:54
you will have to run this command: sudo touch /forcefsck
May 16, 2012 21:53
@sadmicrowave it will not restore anything but make sure after your power outage you don't have anything terribly wrong on your disk
May 16, 2012 21:52
is it dup ?
May 16, 2012 21:51
I can flag it for ya if you wish Jorge
May 16, 2012 21:50
When looking around, it looks like its about not using an IP address and using a DNS name but like you said, if it worked before, then that bug isn't the problem :P
May 16, 2012 21:49
I agree with @belacqua with doing a fsck on the root partition of your linux machine ;)
May 16, 2012 21:47
does the windows machine have a DNS name assigned to it or just the IP?
May 16, 2012 21:41

Q: How to override the DHCP-provided nameserver?

David ParksI (think) that I've configured a static IP address in /etc/network/interfaces: # The primary network interface auto eth0 iface eth0 inet static address 10.1.1.2 netmask 255.255.255.0 network 10.1.1.0 broadcast 10.1.1.255 gateway 10.1.1.1 And I change the file /etc/resolv....

May 16, 2012 21:41
@belacqua is this the one you were thinking about?
May 16, 2012 21:40
@belacqua I hear yea... I just answering questions that I know I could just flag :P
May 16, 2012 21:39
I will check again
May 16, 2012 21:39
darn... I look them up on the lens I have and didn't see anything
