You're off track with your thinking. People cooperate during hunting and gathering. One guy with a spear will get a fraction of the fish two guys and a net can catch.

@Job_September_2020 for most of the world 'fake it until you make it' is a real thing from CEO to cleaner.
May 16 09:41
"That will not look very good" true, but with the job in hand many people don't care. The point is to get their foot in the door. Which can be very difficult for many depending on location, education, socio economics, nationality etc,.

penalise or offend*
Feb 14 15:41
@Boots it wasn't covid or Monica, it was simply 'Go woke, go broke'. If you penalise the majority for the sake of a tiny minority you find yourself losing the majority and the minority moves to another agenda
Feb 14 15:39
@DarkCygnus it's a stupid idea, so it will probably be our reality soon.
Jun 29, 2024 10:51
I woke this morning determined to eat healthier, drink less and exercise more, but that was hours ago, and I was younger then and full of dreams and ideals.

@Old_Lamplighter Permanent disability sounds like a raw deal, maybe get a second opinion? I avoid doctors and suchlike charlatans whenever possible, so haven't had a checkup in decades. My last one the nurse showed me a BMI chart which said I'm obese. But considering I had a six pack, I don't have much faith in medical people. Too much chemical fumes during their study years I reckon.
Jan 29, 2024 02:09
@old_lamplighter good to see you popped in, sorry I missed it. Hope everything is going ok for you
Oct 18, 2023 11:27
True that, I wonder whats happened to Oldlamplighter, I always worry about the chap for some unknown reason

Feb 6, 2024 17:46
@keshlam yeah, but you just never know what people are capable of, or how stressed they are, or what skeletons they have. Bullying strangers is a mistake many people have regretted
Feb 6, 2024 17:46
From his viewpoint you look like you're stalking a dysfunctional, possibly desperate criminal bent on ruining his life. USA has guns. Anything can happen. He can look you up just as easy as you looked him up.
Feb 6, 2024 17:46
Controversy and press mean little if they don't generate action, but fair enough, I'm not from the USA nor likely to ever visit the place.
Feb 6, 2024 17:46
@Some-Interviewee-2024 but the Epstein case hasn't seen any big names become ostracised or anything else that I have noticed. Is hanging out with pedos ok in the USA? I think your generalisation about the USA needs some more thought if practice and theory are wildly divergent
Feb 6, 2024 17:46
Anything can happen when you make enemies. Usually startups are small and the core people are personally known to the bosses. I don't see a positive side. I don't like kiddy fiddlers either, but while I'll confront them, I won't sneak around trying to sabotage them. Might be a cultural difference though.
Feb 6, 2024 17:46
@Some-Interviewee-2024 what do you hope to achieve by that? You want him to lose his job? Commit suicide?

Jan 6, 2024 18:23
@sphennings I got to call bs on that... no offense. I'm Polynesian and have seen them, no real distinguishing traits between them
Jan 6, 2024 18:23
@sphennings or maybe you and the closer don't understand the question? It's easily answerable in my opinion. How many distinguishing traits do you think there are between these ethnicities? Hint..... very few. Can you tell the difference between the average Hawaiian and Hispanic... or even Thai?
Jan 6, 2024 18:23
Thee are plenty of people with that much mixture in their ancestry, most don't look particularly exotic although I have met a few brown skinned people with blue eyes which is pretty cool and one brown family with both light eyes and red hair in most of them. A brown red head with slanted green eyes and frizzy hair would be eye catching

Nov 23, 2023 21:54
@TheDemonLord Unicode?

Nov 20, 2023 23:55
@Or4ng3h4t thanks, but don't overvalue it, I'm not infallible, plenty of intelligent and experienced people here. We don't have the whole gender obsession thing in my locale, so I'm just answering from the professional role angle.
Nov 20, 2023 23:55
@Or4ng3h4t yep, you ducked up once, now you have a second chance. Probably not what you meant but it's reality. However I'll edit my answer to give another option.
Nov 20, 2023 23:55
@Or4ng3h4t then perhaps you're the problem that needs to go? You want to protect something that is bad for morale and allow unprofessional behaviour to impact your whole team. As a manager you have a whole team to look after, you don't pick and choose individuals over that.
Nov 20, 2023 23:55
@Or4ng3h4t so? What difference does that make? Coworkers ranting about anything is bad for morale.. You should have shut it down straight away and sent them to HR to rant all they want
Nov 20, 2023 23:55
Why did you let them call a meeting and tell people off, that seems very bad for morale.

Nov 16, 2023 22:14
You asked via email?
Nov 16, 2023 22:14
Have you tried asking them about the date discrepancy?

@Gantendo I don't know if it was over taxes or something else, nor care. Just wanted money to feed my family with
Nov 16, 2023 08:58
@Gantendo na, there can be reasons for it. I've done something similar trusting the employer and got a nice payoff. Employer saved some money on tax or something else, I got well paid, win/win. I don't know the details and didn't care. I trusted them to give me a certain amount, and they did.

@Gantendo a couple of silly comments is fine, 6 or 7 is just trolling.
Nov 16, 2023 07:56
@Gantendo you need to stop trolling in comments

@Or4ng3h4t I've never heard of long standing issues, and toughened calloused hands are probably the natural condition for humans. Office work is an unnatural state
Oct 24, 2023 01:34
@Or4ng3h4t no, they're hot, they get waterlogged and heavy, they slow you down. Any gloves tough enough to stop gorse is a heavy glove, and we worked 10 hours a day constantly planting. ANYTHING that slows you down even a fraction is a problem, we got paid by how many trees we planted and that fraction makes a difference when you're working on the edge of your capabilities..
Oct 22, 2023 02:54
First few days of a planting season we'd all get blisters, we didn't need to get blisters, but we're paid by how much we do, so we just popped the blisters soaked in some alcohol if we had some or pissed on them and they cleared up until the callouses got ahead of them.
Oct 22, 2023 02:39
For example in the forest we would spend a good 10 to 20 minutes picking gorse needles out of our hands after work some days. We could have worn gloves, but they're hot, they're heavy, they slow us down which meant we'd make less money. We wouldn't be impressed if someone new made an issue and we all were forced to wear gloves. You want to wear gloves, buy your own and leave us out of it.
Oct 22, 2023 02:28
@AndrewMorton who decides it's needed? A workers boyfriend? The company? The union?
Oct 20, 2023 20:34
@Falco just wear the glove, creating drama in this sort of job leads to unemployment.
Oct 20, 2023 20:34
@armand Most of my life has been blue collar. In the forest a deskjockey forced us all to wear earmuffs once. I didn't hear the team next to us yelling they'd miscut a tree and it came down right on top of me, smashed my helmet, the earmuffs, knocked me to the ground and pinned me beneath what was left of the branches. I wore the helmet through common sense. The earmuffs were the deskjockeys common sense and could have gotten me killed. There's no personal offence intended. If you have no experience at something, then you don't know.
Oct 20, 2023 20:34
@armand I'm guessing you have a desk job.
Oct 20, 2023 20:34
@armand perhaps, but scratches aren't something important, possibly the OP's gf is the only person who got a couple of scratches which is why I suggested a glove.
Oct 20, 2023 20:34
@JeremyFriesner if it was me I wouldn't complain, I'd just use common sense.... and a glove.... and get on with it

@LevelRiverSt Welders, mechanics, factory workers, painters, chemists, forestry workers, gardeners....list is endless, it's common for lot of tasks
