It's hard to draw the line, but it matters whether the answers you get can be valuable and applicable or just "I think you should do X"

Also hi everyone else!
Apr 6, 2016 13:19
Couldn't see if you linked it in chat.
Apr 6, 2016 13:19
@IͶΔ Hey! What did you disagree with?

Mar 18, 2016 14:33
In my university they did explicitly own my final film project, but the document that said this also said that the only right the college could exercise with this ownership was to force me to include the college's logo as a credit. So the OP should certainly check the conditions for their case.

General discussion about codereview.stackexchange.com - Welcom...

Ah yeah. They can definitely be done wrong, I thought you just meant that they shouldn't happen at all or something.
Mar 2, 2016 11:05
@Quill Are cross site dupes frowned upon? I've heard the opposite generally. As long as the question actually does fit both site's topics.
Mar 2, 2016 10:17
I hate not having 2k on other sites. Editing is so handy when it's done freely
Mar 2, 2016 10:03
Were you doing that recently Pimgd? I got 4 random upvotes on old-ish answers a ferw days ago (this was after I hit 10k so it wasn't related to that)
Mar 2, 2016 10:03
Yeah, it's like missing out on hidden knowledge.
Mar 2, 2016 09:50
@200_success And thanks! Can finally see deleted posts again. :P

Thanks janos!

It works, just was confusing what the point of it was at girst.

Also hello all, not been on in a while.
Feb 16, 2016 10:33
@Quill No problem, often it seems like people think the string.formatsuggestion is arbitrary when they get reviews so I like to make it clear.
Jan 27, 2016 12:39
I've only used it to find people stealing art
Jan 27, 2016 12:39
I forget that's a thing.
Jan 27, 2016 12:39
Ah
Jan 27, 2016 12:38
What makes you sure that's not them?
Jan 27, 2016 12:06
That was such a weird question. And also, of all languages... why Java?
Jan 27, 2016 11:59
uhhhhh. Probably not?
(it's meant to be a pun "don't patronise me")
Jan 27, 2016 11:56
@DanPantry You should get http://danpantrynise.me

Monking
Jan 25, 2016 16:43
Oh that's weird. I didn't know that.
Jan 25, 2016 16:42
(non or new)
Jan 25, 2016 16:42
So I think it's in the interest of readability for non programmers that they just use 1 as a base
Jan 25, 2016 16:42
In lua arrays are basically just hashmaps I think. You can arbitrarily assign any key values you want.
Jan 25, 2016 14:17
I meant I thought it was the same system in the UK as here, where a freelancer is a sole trader.
Jan 25, 2016 14:16
Yeah plus independent contractor lack protections that an actual employee has
Jan 25, 2016 14:16
Oh weird. I assumed it was the same as over here. Here a contractor/freelancer is basically a sole trader. You have to still do your own taxes, though the government can do the actual calculations as long as you provide receipts and fill out the form.
Jan 25, 2016 14:12
@DanPantry It's bizarre to have that enshrined in law. If anything the law is only worth being on the US end. But I suppose there are stranger laws.
Jan 25, 2016 14:12
@DanPantry You have to? Like, they can't negotiate a contract where it's up to you?
Jan 25, 2016 14:11
Yeah. I did freelance art for a while, you get some serious budgeting issues from people who don't really value your work but want it done.
Jan 25, 2016 14:09
Yeah you lose a lot of benefits that being salaried provide, and the company saves money on that.
Jan 25, 2016 14:07
Ah, yeah that makes sense.
Jan 25, 2016 14:06
London is surely not an average tho?
Jan 25, 2016 12:52
Just discovered a file sitting in an old development folder that's called Unreliable Script (it's empty)
Jan 25, 2016 12:22

Jan 22, 2016 12:49
Oh well our irish teacher was fluent, just our class wasn't haha
Jan 22, 2016 12:48
@DanPantry Quite. I don't know about welsh either, but they teach irish very poorly here. The curriculum works as if people are already somewhat fluent, and the class ends up being about studying poems and short stories more than actual language learning.
Jan 22, 2016 12:47
That sounds like me having to learn Irish, everyone has to (except exemptions like foreign students). And my school also got everyone to learn French, just cause most universities expect you to have done a foreign language

Feb 9, 2016 10:45
I like this answer. It may clear up ambiguity to add the correct form of the sentence at the end, so it's clear what the sentence should be.

Jan 30, 2016 12:37
@aroth that also sounds true. I'm just saying that wilfully disregarding someone's wishes is generally not good, and definitely if they're your employer
Jan 30, 2016 12:37
@deed02392 The OP did something wrong by knowingly circumventing the wishes of their employer. The OP had good intentions but they know they shouldn't have done this and that their employer wouldn't be pleased with it. The concept of working from home is fine, by flouting the wishes of the company paying you is another matter.
