TL;DR was pretty dank

So I spent a great amount of time in mental battle pre-empting what could turn against us

It felt good, because this DM is notorious for TPKs, which is no fun

The roleplay was really solid too. Great party interactions.

I even used Thaumaturgy to trick the guard into thinking we were other dwarves on patrol. Which didn't work because we didn't respond in underdark...

then we were right at the exit and a guard was coming, so I waited then grappled him from around a corner

I had one of them cleaning up blood as we went to keep our detection to a minimum

Then I had them organised in a party formation with each of them given roles like scout, rear defender etc
