In other words, was think previously discussed and people thought genre tags would not be beneficial for searching through questions to answer or which might be of interest to someone who likes that genre?

So there is no precedent for genre tags, I take it? Was that intentional?

Yes, thanks for the clarification! Right, I was only adding the tag I just made to questions in which the OP thought the title was shoujo

So a series title tag can be added at any time, but any other tags should be vetted in Meta?

So creating tags is something that is not done unless it is brought up prior to creation in Meta? Good to know

What does "the tag should follow the question, not the answer" mean, could you re-phrase that?

I, for one, would from time to time search for the tag "shoujo" and see if I can answer anybody's questions since I know the genre well.

So a tag could help people who know shoujo well to find and answer questions they can answer instead of weeding through a lot of questions.

That would be fine, but the tag did not exist at all before, and since over 100 questions come up if you do a search for the word "shoujo," I thought it could be helpful. Some that come up in that search are shoujo and some are about series that only happen to have "Shoujo" in the title of the series but are not shoujo series.
