@Almo thanks yeah I decided to do the pico one at the moment
Wes

That and the limited color palette. Sounds wierd but that means I can't faff around in Gimp all day. Though I was seriously considering learning some assembly. But then what processor would I target Z80 ?
Wes
Oct 3, 2020 18:54
Yeah thats kind of what attracted me to it oddly.
Wes

@DMGregory No not really. I wouldn't have minded something pinch bigger than 128x128

@Almo thanks for the advise though

Well basically I want to create something for fun. Doen't have to be any good. So I'm looking for a very limited environment, for instance I've been looking at pico8. Or learn some assembly something that doesn't feel like work at all. So I guess I'm looking for software recommendations.

I specifically don't want something like unity. Because that would A give me too many options and b coding in those languages is a bit close to my day job. (Server side java).

Anyone got any idea, also scratch would be a no go. Even if the language I'd learn is basic (not BASIC) I'd prefer to write cod

Hi All,
I'm guessing it not too busy here. But I'd like to ask a question that I believe to be very off topic for the site.

I don't have the reputation to answer. However I've done precisely this on a couple of occasions, though not in those exact words. One manager asked me to stay to a set date if possible to finish a project. No problem there. Another one convinced me that I could leave the country and retain employment. I feel like its worked out well for me. That's not the same as recommending it.

If my assumption of having state is wrong. It may be just termonlogy. What I asked above is the crux of the matter. Running values.
Wes

@amon Assuming its haskell you write and assuming it does http requests. How would I write a http application in haskell that has two endpoints. 1 which accepts a post (wrapped or otherwise) that contains a chunk of plain text, and a second endpoint that returned the count of all the words received or even the 10 most common words, without relying on an external data source.

thanks.

its certainly a mouthful.
Wes
Feb 17, 2018 19:34
@amon Thank you. I think the sub questions are all kind of paraphrasing each other, but I get the point. If the question was what is the best way to have shared state between threads while adhearing to the principals of functional programming in scala, Would that be more directed?
Wes

Thought so

is it a good fit for software engineering?

Q: Shared state in functional application

WesOkay I'm trying to understand how to do programming without variables. I've managed a simple tic-tac-toe game but it depended on a tail recursive state and as far as I can tell would only work in a single thread. Example can be seen at https://codereview.stackexchange.com/questions/187339/scala...

I wonder could something else like (as in similar to, not for instance) magnetism produce an opposing force to gravity that affects the fluid that falls a parcipitation.

I assume that you saw the same video as I did. youtube.com/watch?v=9bbhJi0NBkk and for the record I'd say no. At worst its a little condescending to the player.

Q: Is it possible to create a proper flowchart in draw.io?

Adam ŁyI like draw.io’s interface and was hoping to create some proper Data Flow Diagrams (flowcharts) with this tool. Unfortunately, after playing a few minutes with the shapes available within the Flowchart section, I am concern that it is impossible in draw.io. Shapes don’t have names as in case of...

Thats probably sufficent. e.g. In lego marvel he used to just go arround the train track with Professor Xavier for hours. But agian he made me do unlocks

TBH doesn't matter If I do the unlocking

Basically he like sandbox games with no pressure where he can create things. E.g. Minecraft, Little Big planet (editor only), sound shapes (editor only). He also used to like exploration in lego. He loves unlocks if their not diffcult. He can do simple redstone circuts in minecraft but finds it very hard to communicate what he likes (i.e. this is observation)

Hi guys, I want to ask a question that is probably far off topic. Can you verify if it is. The gist of it is shopping for an autistic child who has very specific things he likes in games, but I don't know the games on market that meet those requirements. Is that off topic, or can you suggest somewhere else on the internet to get information?
