You mention there are some foreign engineers in the room that where hired with the requirement that they are fluent in English. Where the locals also hired with the requirement that they would use English as their main communication language?

Just to understand. Could your question be rephrased as: "Can Helen get away with her disruptive behaviour by hiding behind her religion?" You admit as to being prejudiced against Mark so perhaps you should defer to someone else.

@MatthewRock that's my point: programmers are a small subset of all computer users, and even among those only a relatively small percentage prefer CLI over GUI. Those and sysadmins are the only groups that really make use of CLI this days. For almost anything else, mouse or touch are vastly superior.

CLI is better just for the tasks for which it is better. IDE, CAD, imaging, document edition, mapping applications,... Mostly everything a human can do with a computer is easier in a GUI.

On a side note, C/C++ does not make any sense, you have to make up your mind: is it C, C++ or both (unlikely). It may seen a minor detail, but it looks like you don't know that those are two different languages.

You should also consider track days, which are legal even in the US en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Track_day Not that you will enjoy much of it on a Toyota Camry, but one never knows :-)
