@200_success Honestly, I don't think we need one currently as we can just use a more specific tag instead. I'm not too sure why we need a programming tag at all or a more general one for it. Any tags based on it will be too broad anyway.

@Carpetsmoker right, there are plugins. Most IDEs come built in with a debugger and intellisense completion. I grant you, if there are questions that actually ask for those, an ide tag is appropriate. I'm just saying they shouldn't be applied to questions that ask for something like textwidth and equalprg.

I suppose we can keep the ide tag for questions related to debugging, code completion and ones that actually ask for ide-like features. Vim is not an IDE. It doesn't have a debugger, and you can argue that it lacks "intellisense" code complete. Besides, most questions currently tagged as IDE are actually related to formatting and text editing features, and not making Vim act like an IDE. I only found two questions about autocompletion that probably apply.

Hi guys, is there any reason the ide tag even exists? It seems way too broad and most questions tagged as ide have nothing to do with using vim as an ide. Might as well change the ide tag to text-editor (joke). An example of this is: vi.stackexchange.com/questions/636/…. What does this question have anything remotely to do with using Vim as an ide?
