@FumbleFingers I disagree with the subjective statement that "This is the kind of thing competent native speakers just know". I was born in the US, lived in 40 out of 50 states, and read a lot of scientific material. Mettle isn't a word that comes up. I'll humbly look at ESL if that's what you suggest, but think that redirection is a disservice to lesser-educated curious folk than yourself.

That is an interesting question, and my premise was focused on virtual currency. Expanding it to other assets could work, if locked into the blockchain. What system would represent this best? (ETH, Mastercoin, etc?)
