I hope all of you are having a wonderful day!

It's a good learning experience for me, so I'll be much more careful in the future, to either make my edits substantial, or not do them at all!
Sue
Apr 30, 2019 23:16
On my other active sites, I frequently add links for that reason. However, on those sites I have editing privileges and they don't need to go through a queue. You have much better things to do than read through unhelpful edits, and I'm really sorry I added to your workload!
Sue

Hi @Dirty-flow, @RedBaron, @bytebuster. I came to apologize for my edit to the question about Kew Gardens. I added the link for people to see where OP was going. I realize it wasn't important to the question, but thought it would be a nice addition for people like me, who find places like that interesting.
Sue
Mar 23, 2019 23:11
It would break the rules of the question and answer nature of the site!
Sue
Mar 23, 2019 23:09
@Willeke, on another subject, I was reading in the transcript of the chat room at TGO about whether or not putting the "contests" on the main sites is a good idea. You said you didn't think it was a good fit. I agree.
Sue
Mar 23, 2019 23:05
What I really want to know though, is when to see them and from the best handicapped place. Would I have to separate the two questions and link them?
Sue
Mar 23, 2019 23:04
As for the handicapped, there are a number of different places to see the bats, but different levels of handicapped access, and in some places, none at all. I think that's a more interesting question. It requires more research.
Sue
Mar 23, 2019 23:03
@Willeke, @JoErNanO, the answer to what time and season is very easy to find. Would it be too easy for the site, or one of those things when it's okay to post something easy to find because people might be interested in it?
Sue
Mar 23, 2019 23:01
Those would be two separate questions, right?
Sue
Mar 23, 2019 22:59
We, dreaming, wishing, hoping, praying, almost planning to go to Texas to see the Bracken Bat Cave in Texas. It's home to millions of Mexican Free-Tailed bats. I'd want to ask when the best time of the year or day is to see the most bats as they emerge, and also the best viewing spot for people in wheelchairs.
Sue
Mar 23, 2019 22:55
@Willeke and/or @JoErNanO, I want to ask you something before posting a question, if you don't mind!
Sue
Mar 23, 2019 22:53
@Willeke, if it's too minor to make the change, just forget I mentioned it!!
Sue
Mar 23, 2019 22:52
Obviously you meant to write either, "once you're happy," or "once you are happy." You may have even written them both and just not noticed it when you posted the finished product. I do that all the time!
Sue
Mar 23, 2019 22:51
@Willeke, Hi! I love the idea of the April competition!! It's going to attract a lot of people. I found a small typo in the post, and don't want to put my name as editor for something so minor. It's in the second to last paragraph. It says "once your are happy..."
Sue
Mar 19, 2019 01:21
Ooops, I just realized you have another mod too that I missed thanking, @Ankur Banerjee. I don't see this as an easy site to run, and you guys are awesome!
Sue
Mar 19, 2019 01:19
@Willeke, I also wanted to thank you for being so lovely and diplomatic to people. I hope you're enjoying being a mod! You're in excellent company with @JoErNanO, @JonathanReez, @MarkMayo.
Sue
Mar 19, 2019 01:17
@JoErNanO, I just wanted to say hi because I see you've been here within the last few days!
Sue
Mar 19, 2019 01:16
@Rory Alsop I hope you're well.
Sue
Mar 19, 2019 01:16
@RoryAlsop, Hi! As you know, I haven't been to the TGO chat room for a long time. I recently read the transcripts though and found a huge compliment from you! I hope you don't mind me thanking you in here instead! I'm very humbled! You're the one I look up to as an example over there!
Sue
Mar 19, 2019 01:14
I'm really excited about next month! I love that you've changed the rules so each post can have enough pictures to get a better idea of the trip. I also love the idea of planning/dreaming of/waiting to get healthy enough, aspect.
Sue
Mar 19, 2019 01:09
Hi everyone! @Willeke, I've loved all your photo "contests!" This month has tons of great stuff!! I like the blend of sleek/modern and old/weathered (like yours in Wiltshire), and everything in between!
Sue
Feb 26, 2019 00:34
I know you always answer quickly, which is really sweet, but there's no rush!
Sue
Feb 26, 2019 00:32
I have something similar I want to ask, but didn't think it was in the rules. If this one's okay though, maybe I'll do it!
Sue
Feb 26, 2019 00:31
If Travel is anything like The Great Outdoors where shopping questions are concerned, the line is really blurry. @Rory Alsop probably cringes on a regular basis when these questions come up!
Sue
Feb 26, 2019 00:29
Does that mean the part about asking for prices and names of shops is fine too?
Sue
Feb 26, 2019 00:28
I think most of the question is fine, especially the possibility of finding a large sized bike. That's a really important question, and perfect for our site!
Sue
Feb 26, 2019 00:27
@Willeke, How are you? Well, I hope! Thank you and everyone who have answered my procedural questions before. I'm back with another one! The question about buying a bicycle in Japan, travel.stackexchange.com/questions/132345, has what look like shopping aspects to me, and I'm wondering about your policy. The Help Center is clear about not asking for shopping suggestions, which is linked to official SE policy, stackoverflow.blog/2010/11/23/qa-is-hard-lets-go-shopping.
Sue
Feb 18, 2019 19:51
Hope you're well. Hello to everyone else here too, @hippietrail, @HonoraryWorldCitizen, @RoryAlsop, @Bernhard, @WedaPashi, @JonathanReez, @JoErNanO, @Mark Mayo, @Giorgio, @GregHewgill, @gerrit, @B.Liu, @choster, @mts, @phoog, and any I missed!
Sue
Feb 18, 2019 19:42
I have a few that are really cool from when we went to Maine, USA, but I think it may be only geological, and not influenced by people. I'll figure it out!
Sue
Feb 18, 2019 19:41
@Willeke, I think I may have a picture or two to add. I have a lot from home, but I also have some from trips, and I'm trying to find those, since that's the preferred way to do it! Everybody's pictures are awesome!!!!!!!!
Sue
Feb 18, 2019 19:39
It was only moved 45 minutes ago and the OP is active on a number of sites, so hopefully they'll add TGO, but I'm wondering how it works, just in case.
Sue
Feb 18, 2019 19:38
@Willeke, Hi! I have a moderator question for you! A question posted here, outdoors.stackexchange.com/questions/21668/question was just migrated to The Great Outdoors, but the OP didn't (yet) join the site. I can tell because the name is gray, and there's no link to their profile. Does this mean we can't ask questions or otherwise communicate with that OP? I think it does but I'm not 100% sure.
Sue
Feb 8, 2019 23:30
@WedaPashi, Hi! I didn't realize you were around until I saw your name come up! I hope you've been well and enjoying fun and safe travels!
Sue
Feb 8, 2019 23:29
@MarkMayo, I just realized you gave me a link to the same meta post as @JoErNanO, so I want to thank you too!
Sue
Feb 8, 2019 23:10
@MarkMayo and @JoErNanO, thank you both so much for your help. JoErNanO, thanks especially for that meta post. That makes the issue very clear! I went through something on another site, and I didn't want to bother a mod, so I edited the word out, and replaced it with something that seemed to make the point without using the word, but the OP rolled it back. I don't like edit wars, plus I can see why flagging is the better way to handle it, so that's what I'll do if comes up again!
Sue
Feb 7, 2019 23:38
@Willeke, thanks for the encouragement about the picture! I have a lot, so I'll have to pick out one I like best (they're mostly mourning doves) before posting!
Sue
Feb 7, 2019 23:35
I'd take both of those out, but I know I'm very sensitive where vulgarity, rudeness and offensive language is concerned.
Sue
Feb 7, 2019 23:34
Would a mod here choose to edit that out? Also, there was another one recently that was "sh..".
Sue
Feb 7, 2019 23:32
OP apologizes for using words that might be offensive to some.
Sue
Feb 7, 2019 23:32
@MarkMayo Thanks for taking care of that! I have another mod question! There is a new post travel.stackexchange.com/questions/131768 that uses the word "f...". I find that objectionable, and would edit it out if I had privileges. I know the international nature of the site allows for language that might not be offensive in the USA, but I think it would violate the "vulgar language" description in the Code of Conduct.
Sue
Feb 7, 2019 03:30
While I'm here, hello to everyone I can ping... including @RoryAlsop, @MarkMayo, @mts, @Dirty-flow, @chx, @phoog, @Luc, @JonasCz, @B.Liu, @JonathanReez, and all who come through! Hope everyone is well!
Sue
Feb 7, 2019 03:27
We have an awesome picture of a raccoon standing up on his toes to reach the bird bath. He was able to drink from it without knocking it over! Unfortunately, it's too dark since the raccoons only come out at night!
Sue
Feb 7, 2019 03:25
I have a number of pictures that feature animals, but what the animals are doing is directly related to water influenced by man.
Sue
Feb 7, 2019 03:24
Does that meet the criteria, potentially for the same reason as a bird bath meets the criteria?
Sue
Feb 7, 2019 03:23
@Willeke, I'm not exactly sure from the wording of the February contest if something I have would be okay. We have a sunroom with glass making up most of the top. After my hubby cleans it off with a hose (that would be the human influence) rivulets of water are left, and birds drink out of them. I have some cool pictures which I took from underneath the bird while standing in the room.
Sue
Feb 7, 2019 03:00
It's a new user, so I'd like to leave a welcoming comment and some explanation, and let them know I've notified a mod. I'm not sure of the exact policy here, so I don't want to do anything wrong. Thanks for your help!
Sue
Feb 7, 2019 02:53
Hi everyone! I have a question for a mod. It looks like @Willeke and @MarkMayo, are the two I can ping! You've probably already seen this, but in case you haven't, there's a new question on our meta, travel.meta.stackexchange.com/questions/4957/...from someone who wants a certain type of visa. I think OP meant to ask it on the regular site, but used meta instead. Might someone be willing to check for me, in case that happened, and, if so, could you perhaps move it to the regular site?
Sue
Jan 25, 2019 22:27
@JonathanReez Hi! Thanks for your response! Sorry I wasn't clear! I was referring to your comment to @Fattie that you "downvoted an answer because while it's technically correct, it's falsely scaring OP." I wanted to look at that question, because I wonder what was considered as scaring the OP. It's no big deal, and you don't need to respond. It was just for my education purposes. Thanks!
Sue
Jan 25, 2019 22:22
@RoryAlsop Thanks for this. I think I'll use it as a way to encourage people to continue to look at their questions. It's easy to slip away for a while, especially if the question has problems and you don't understand the system.
