Storage will need some care as we will need to place an appropriate tag per iOS, macOS, iPadOS, etc… before cleaning that up
Jul 22 21:57
After reviewing the 129 raid questions, that needs to be merged into macOS urgently as that tag is missing on many many of the questions and serving as a poorly executed meta tag in practice
Jul 22 21:54
apple.stackexchange.com/questions/tagged/raid 2 questions this year, 129 uses total for [raid]
Jul 22 21:52
apple.stackexchange.com/questions/tagged/storage 20 questions this year, 779 uses total for [storage]
Jul 22 21:50
Is there any reason we wouldn’t merge the raid tag in to storage? I don’t see either as useful, but consolidation seems good as a first step if we decide to burninate these both.

Decent amount of votes, good problem statement. Thanks for the help @MartinSleziak
Jun 6 22:46
Thank you. I’ll try from a computer later. It’s not working for me on iPhone or iPad

Is image upload broken here for anyone else?
Apr 1 14:01
The site is frozen and chat isn’t. April fools indeed
Feb 13 23:17
It wasn’t intended to be related. It was a new topic.

Transfer purchases from one Apple Account to another Apple Account. If it works well, this will make quite a few people very very happy.
Feb 12 00:20
Speaking of never, this was something I would have not expected to see from Apple.

@absolutelynotthethe no one ever comes here

Q: Displaying difference between APFS snapshots

kiler129Problem APFS is amazing... and infuriating with its lack of tools available. What I'm trying to do is simply an equivalent of btrfs send --no-data -p /snapshots/parent /snapshots/child My investigation Most of the google-fu returns usages of tmutil tmutil is able to listlocalsnapshots / de...

Jan 6 22:49
It’s been a few years since I used tmutil compare and it’s no longer making sense to me. I dropped a bounty in case anyone has a better plan than mounting snapshots and doing an rsync —dry-run to see what has changed between intervals.

Thanks!

I did leave open the possibility the OP detected a bug and needs to report it, but I can’t see any problems yet with the implementation.

Very nice edit. I don’t use that web site, so I can’t really test, but I did several other tests before answering and saved web sites stayed private in my testing. There isn’t any reference since it seems obvious it should work that way

Happy New Year! I hope everyone is wearing festive hats or otherwise having a marvelous week.

To my eye, the title was in need of a touch up. See

We do tend to get a lot of edits that really are nit picking and yours wasn’t that case.
Dec 30, 2024 16:45
I agree with the rejection of that edit, I personally don’t like to see How to… due to overuse, but I also see that as a personal preference. The rest was really not making the question substantially better.
Dec 30, 2024 16:44
im so glad you stepped up and did anything and also are drawing attention to edits here. Let me review some recent edits and see how they look to me.

Hi @PatMyron and welcome
Nov 25, 2024 02:24
Brilliant! Things like that @grg are the only way we sometimes get to have a peek under the hood on how things are related. Crazy unexpected dependency between the mode of passcode and functionality deep down in an app calling a portion of code from a different app.
Nov 19, 2024 17:10
This is an amazing read if you follow infosec or platform security or just appreciate an attempt to reverse engineer something that may not be documented publicly.
Nov 8, 2024 23:55
@grg Hoping you get something soon...
Nov 8, 2024 23:55
Photo cleanup is nice, also basic
Nov 8, 2024 23:54
Image playground dropped. It's fun and basic
Nov 7, 2024 16:56
Still waiting on 18.2 image playground invite…
Oct 27, 2024 17:10
@grg even in the US, once you install a beta, you then have to queue for AI features. I’ve got the proofing tools from 18.1 but not yet the image playground feature on 18.2
Oct 26, 2024 00:42
Aah. Thanks for that extra detail.
Oct 25, 2024 23:23
Also, blatantly off topic question should get a close vote instead of a flag and possibly a down vote if you think it’s a decent question and might get migrated somewhere else. No need to down vote something for it to land in the proper venue
Oct 25, 2024 23:22
@AndyGriffiths I don’t recall that flag and only VLQ.

Anyone playing with macOS beta and Apple Intelligence ?

Having defense in depth is table stakes for any widely used OS, the threat is still there and managing a quarantine bit is easy. It’s not causing any of the problem here from what I can see
Apr 4 15:41
Why isn’t a healthy quarantine tagging a good thing? Scanner drivers are a malicious injection vector and malformed images are notoriously used for jailbreaks and exploits.

Very interesting results. Good troubleshooting steps
Mar 28 23:59
I can’t reproduce your results. From what I can tell it seems quite unlikely every document preview opens is affected. Is there some background you’re not sharing with the post? Are you able to show a publicly available document that reproduces this?

I haven’t been at a Jamf national conference for a few years, but they typically list the number of managed computers in the millions. Probably a small but sizable fraction of the 30+ million managed devices they advertise are macOS.
