Sure thing. Just wanted to keep you guys in the picture.

@Hakase Hiya. Are you still using the chatexchange.net lib? If so, just a quick heads up, the lib is going offline and is being replaced with a new lib soon-ish™ (within a couple of weeks hopefully). You might have already heard, but SE are deprecating their openid login in a few months; annoyingly, the old lib relied on that to auth, so the lib will be completely dead by that point.

Dec 3, 2017 23:25
@Hakase Yeah, it's still there. Just moved to a different class.
Sam
Dec 2, 2017 23:01
@Gao Np! Sorry that things got screwed up in the first place.

Sam
Dec 1, 2017 22:22
Fair enough lol
Sam
Dec 1, 2017 22:22
@Hakase That, or you were right about simply removing the reference instead.
Sam
Dec 1, 2017 22:20
Anyway, it's all under review. I hope to make it less ugly with the next major release.
Sam
Dec 1, 2017 22:19
Because you won't have access to user collection properties in the meantime.
Sam
Dec 1, 2017 22:18
It runs the initialisation code on a separate thread.
Sam
Dec 1, 2017 22:17
You should use .JoinRoom(<url>, true);
Sam
Dec 1, 2017 22:17
Oh
Sam
Dec 1, 2017 22:17
So it's merely precautionary.
Sam
Dec 1, 2017 22:16
I have known several people to get ip banned before.
Sam
Dec 1, 2017 22:15
Granted it's ugly.
Sam
Dec 1, 2017 22:15
It was probably there to avoid flooding the server with a bunch of requests when you join a room with lots of users.
Sam
Dec 1, 2017 22:12
Do you have that installed as a package perhaps?
Sam
Dec 1, 2017 22:07
lol
Sam
Dec 1, 2017 22:06
Oh nice. What was the problem?
Sam
Dec 1, 2017 22:06
Well if that's the case, it's just a matter of deleting the native implementation class (and reference).
Sam
Dec 1, 2017 22:03
No, I thought the exception was only thrown if you attempt to create an instance of the websocket class.
Sam
Dec 1, 2017 21:41
@Hakase Done.
Sam
Dec 1, 2017 20:39
I have no idea. I don't remember much of the old libs.
Sam
Dec 1, 2017 20:37
You can still set a timeout though.
Sam
Dec 1, 2017 20:37
Yeah, the library handles auto-reconnecting now.
Sam
Dec 1, 2017 20:37
lol

Sam
Mar 17, 2018 14:26
@SimonForsberg No idea. I'm semi-actively (spare time at weekends) developing my new chat library that should work across all of SE.
Sam
Mar 11, 2018 22:44
@quartata Yeah, that does indeed work.
Sam
Mar 11, 2018 22:34
hmm
Sam
Mar 11, 2018 22:32
Yes
Sam
Mar 11, 2018 22:32
Or rather, you had to do that. I'm not sure if they've changed that.
Sam
Mar 11, 2018 22:31
AKAIK, you have to login to SE if you want to access SE chat rooms.
Sam
Mar 11, 2018 22:29
@quartata Haven't tested that case yet.
Sam
Mar 11, 2018 22:04
SO does not.
Sam
Mar 11, 2018 22:04
SE still uses openid when authenticating with an email/pwd.
Sam
Mar 11, 2018 22:04
@SimonForsberg Yeah. However, as I've just found out, it appears to only work for SO.
Sam
Mar 11, 2018 21:01
@quartata I'll keep that in mind, thanks.
Sam
Mar 11, 2018 20:48
Too many loc to post here.
Sam
Mar 11, 2018 20:48
@SimonForsberg Uh, the link I posted earlier was my solution. :)
Sam
Mar 11, 2018 20:44
(Our bots need to be able to interact with chat, so the SE API isn't an option here.)

Mar 11, 2018 20:43
It's the simplest solution I've come across so far.
Sam
Mar 11, 2018 20:27
:p
Sam
Mar 11, 2018 20:23
:)
Sam
Mar 11, 2018 20:22
@SimonForsberg Yeah. The library is still far from complete though.
Sam
Mar 11, 2018 19:48
Yeah, I've just switched to directly logging in with the account's email/pwd for each community.
