'from using a calculator in maths exams?' - you mean maths homework not exams?

@ChrisH Please post your comment as an answer
Jan 10, 2023 01:35
@phoog do you disagree with ChrisH that they might not know the 2nd citizenship? anyway please post your comment as an answer
Jan 4, 2023 17:44
aaahhhhh!!! makes sense right thanks!!!!! Merry Christmas, happy new year, and happy holidays!
Jan 4, 2023 17:44
@ChrisH re the political sensitivity whether or not i bring my passport, they'll know i have a passport of that other country anyway?
Jan 4, 2023 17:44
@ChrisH ok fine my mom can bring just 1. but i want to bring 2. what is the argument against bringing 2? real arguments please not like 'If you take the passport you might lose it.' I just want to bring an umbrella in case it rains. I don't see what is problematic about this.
Jan 4, 2023 17:44
@ChrisH oh my bad i thought you were ugoren. please see my previous comments.
Jan 4, 2023 17:44
@phoog 'how wouldn't immigration know your second citizenship?' --> EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT. THANK YOU. Please post that as an answer if this question gets reopened. Btw do you find it weird that my mom has been a flight attendant for 30 years but this situation is completely new? (I just edited my post.)
Jan 4, 2023 17:44
Note Also my mom is claiming to be the safe side. and in particular like if there's a search and it's revealed i have a 2nd passport then i might be questioned or something. does this seem sensible to you? it sounds like my mom / my mom's company wants me / its flight attendants to hide something. and what can we really hide? how wouldn't immigration know our 2nd citizenship?
Jan 4, 2023 17:44
I'm not asking if i NEED to bring both. i'm asking the harm in bringing both passports. i don't see it as any different than bringing an umbrella in case it might rain. if it rains, then good thing you have the umbrella. if it doesn't rain, then the umbrella is just left with you. if you're going to argue that your passport might be stolen, then no one should ever bring umbrellas because the umbrellas might be stolen!?!?!
Jan 4, 2023 17:44
' also no need to bring this second passport' --> LOL so what do you say to those 4 articles I cited? Also you didn't answer my other questions. If I am asked point black if my mom is a citizen of State 2, then what should I say? Suppose I have to give a direct yes/no answer.

@PaulD.Waite oh did i say i didn't watch all of BCS? My bad. I watched but I forgot.
Sep 25, 2022 15:48
@PaulD.Waite why do I have to get rid of the other stuff when there's an OR? 'What happened to Lyle in BCS, or why don't we see Lyle in BB?' wait...i have another edit... ok edited title to 'Why don't we see Lyle from BCS in BB?'
Sep 25, 2022 15:48
@PaulD.Waite Feel free to post as answer 'Scientists are now saying that sometimes, people leave fast food jobs.'
Sep 25, 2022 15:48
@PaulD.Waite 'In the wee hours of the morning, Lyle drives up to Los Pollos Hermanos and unlocks the restaurant. He receives a call on his cell phone from Gus, who tells him that he will be out of town for the week and that Lyle will be responsible for managing the restaurant in his absence.' --> Wait I've seen a clip about this. That's it? That's Lyle's last appearance?
Sep 25, 2022 15:48
@PaulD.Waite 'Lyle's in the second half of Better Call Saul season 6, and he provides a stunning revelation about Los Pollos Hermanos.' --> then answer that. but with spoiler tag please
Sep 25, 2022 15:48
@PaulD.WaiteCould be promotion to another branch? Or got a better offer in another restaurant? But still...Lyle is like the only unexplained named character? Or there are others? (I edited post.) Or could be Lyle's dedication is what leads Lyle to find out about the meth lab and then Gus kills Lyle?

@user1751825 Thanks. They babysit outside instead of inside. Eg the parents have instructed/allowed the sitter and sittee to eat out for lunch or dinner. What's the problem there? Please consider posting your own answer explaining the difference between social hanging out and babysitting. What, you can't have a sitter who is friends with the sittee? Note: When I 1st saw a situation like this I immediately thought it was very weird/suspicious/creepy/strange/dangerous. But then I thought of babysitting. (And the other answer seems convincing.) I'm inclined to agree, but please elaborate.
Jun 20, 2022 15:40
@user1751825 Thanks again. What about babysitting? I made edits to OP after the answers were posted but before you posted your comment. Please consider double checking the edits.
Jun 20, 2022 15:40
@user1751825 Thank you for commenting. What if maybe Mikoto and Bidatz share a common interest, like 9LX or Digimon?
Jun 20, 2022 15:40
Why is it creepy and suspicious, and why do you think 'there couldn't be any real shared interests' ?

Wait is it like (case 1) 50% is the passing score? Or like (case 2) whatever the passing score is, call it X (can be 70% or 30% or 60% or 50%), it is that below 50% of students have achieved this passing score?

Thanks Timur Shtatland! Love the 'left as an exercise to the reader'. Never thought I'd see that in SE sites besides maths, physics, stats, etc. Wait I realised I forgot something. Ok so Putin wants so and so for political objectives but what exactly are the military objectives of the invasion: like bomb certain buildings or places until Zelenskyy says like 'ok fine, you win. We'll talk' ?

Mar 3, 2022 20:04
@AzorAhai-him- you might not be right. 'Our representation of the standard criminal might be based on the properties of those less intelligent ones who were caught. - Nassim Nicholas Taleb' what do you say to this?
Mar 3, 2022 20:04
@AzorAhai-him- YOU WERE RIGHT: academia.stackexchange.com/questions/166336/…

@RobbieGoodwin how to open chat please? there's sometimes a button after awhile that says let us continue this discussion in chat, but i don't see it this time
Mar 3, 2022 20:04
@RobbieGoodwin re '“Sorry” is an expression of sorrow, not an apology. ', what about [wesley so](youtube.com/watch?v=ACc8GrBqkWg (who is filipino, which may or may not be relevant) ? wesley so says 'I’d like to apologise to Magnus for semi-ruining his birthday!' so actually even 'i apologise' itself could be used as an expression of sorry and not an apology? i think this is the kind of danger that happens with using 'sorry' as to mean 'i apologise' eventually 'i apologise' will mean the 'sorry' that is meant to be 'condolences' or something
Mar 3, 2022 20:04
@RobbieGoodwin ...please give an example of an area of such law.
Mar 3, 2022 20:04
@RobbieGoodwin eh i hate using 'sorry' for that. i say condolences, unfortunately or something. filipino has a word for this called 'pasensya' (of course meaning 'patience') . convenient word. as for the other parts of your comment...
Mar 3, 2022 20:04
@RobbieGoodwin what specifically is the 'rest' please? no need to apologise
Mar 3, 2022 20:04
@RobbieGoodwin 'red light, stole this, or damaged that' not really sure i follow. in this case, there are physical things we can look at to try to determine whether or not a defendant/suspect is possibly guilty of these things. there are finger prints, cameras, etc, idk. for the employment thing, it seems evidence is not really physical but more like financial, psychological, documentary...idk. of course it's a civil matter, so it's 50% vs 95% proof or whatever, but i still find it a little similar to those conditions for annulments of marriage that are like 'how would you even prove those?'
Mar 3, 2022 20:04
@RobbieGoodwin not really. what exactly do you mean by the 1st sentence please?

Dec 9, 2021 05:04
@Nij wait so if i post and then a commenter says maybe it's opinion based and i can't reply as to why i think it is opinion based then, what am i supposed to do?
Dec 9, 2021 05:04
@Nij interesting. closed as broad not as opinion-based or off-topic. so if it's tennis only it's gonna be reopened?
Dec 9, 2021 05:04
@Nij where do i meta commentary? create a chat?
Dec 9, 2021 05:04
@Nij the last was not a repeat. it was an update. i have something to say about the opinion-based that alamoot is suspecting. why can't i say to alamoot that i don't think this is opinion-based?
Dec 9, 2021 05:04
@Nij edited post
Dec 9, 2021 05:04
@Nij 1 - the note isn't (necessarily) applicable if this isn't broad right? (well it could be closed for opinion-based, but i'm talking about closed for broad) 1.1 - whenever the note is applicable, surely when i say i would like the post to be 'about chess/9LX and tennis' you know what i mean? 2 - the question has no word chess or 9LX in it: 'Question: So for sports in general, MTOAT or most talented currently means greatness...adjusting for something? If so, then what? If not, then what does talent mean as opposed to greatness?'
Dec 9, 2021 05:04
@Nij careful with the wording i said 'just about' not 'about'. 'just about' refers to a reduction from what the question previously would have been namely to include motocross and gymnastics. therefore the context of the would-be new question is based on the context of the would-be old question where chess is of course the motivation for the post but is not what the post is about. context.
Dec 9, 2021 05:04
@Nij good thing my question isn't about chess.

@DavidELU 1 - wow thanks! 2 - but hey was that PLL (edit: nvm it's friends)? 3 - an ongoing affair is definitely intentional. not merely a mistake. it's indeed a common misusage of the term mistake, but nevertheless common. i think less like jealousy vs envy, more like love instead of cathexis, limerence, infatuation, etc? 4 - but perhaps 1 time affair out of impulsivity or getting drunk or whatever may be considered a dishonest mistake? like maybe just an impulsive kiss like phoebe from friends. i mean i hardly categorise phoebe's cheating to the same level as 'I made a mistake, okay?'
Nov 25, 2021 17:54
@PeterMortensen it's been modified already (by you! thanks again!) but 're' is like regards or relation or respect right? (but for respect i guess i should say with respect instead of in respect) wait yeah in your link. reference/regard
Nov 25, 2021 17:54
@DjinTonic i guess that definition of mistake isn't quite the same as the definition of 'mistake' in the term 'honest mistake'....i think the definition of 'mistake' here then is like 'An action or judgment that is misguided' ...? idk. i believe the key here is intent. i mean, murder certainly has intent while DUI homicides don't right?
Nov 25, 2021 17:54
@DavidELU (2/2) eg parents fail to get the proper mental health treatment for child diagnosed with a mental illness (oh say autism or ADHD or whatever mental illnesses are diagnosed relative to how the child behaves/how the person behaved as a child) because they do not do their due diligence eg reading about pop psychology/psychiatry stuff without double checking with the diagnoser (eg psychologist or psychiatrist). this is 1 - not 'child abuse' (since abuse afaiu is intentional, not negligent) 2 - a mistake, but not an honest mistake 3 - certainly not 'trivial' ...right?
Nov 25, 2021 17:54
@KateBunting thanks. i guess you're right. but i do think the lack of differentiation between honest and dishonest mistakes causes some problems eg people may consider intentional adultery (rather than negligent adultery say spur of the moment or getting drunk or whatever) to be a 'mistake' (see the appendix in OP or comments above) or people may consider a dishonest mistake an honest mistake like the mental health treatment i mention in previous comment. (i'll edit this stuff into OP actually)
Nov 25, 2021 17:54
@DavidELU aaaaahhhhhhhh thanks i remember now! in those tv series where someone says it was a 'mistake' to commit adultery, the spouse/partner counters saying that it wasn't a 'mistake' (unless it was a spur of the moment thing like when phoebe in friends technically committed adultery by a kiss) right yeah yeah it's WRONG to call adultery (unless so and so) a 'mistake' yeah i forgot right right thanks!!!!
Nov 25, 2021 17:54
@DavidELU (1/2) as for the ' but mistakes are made regarding trivial things' part, well not exactly. maybe honest mistakes. but i'm saying 'dishonest mistakes' which i interpret to be negligence are not necessarily trivial.
Nov 25, 2021 17:54
@DjinTonic indeed thanks. hmmmm...a mistake in judgement but not a mistake in...hmmm...idk not quite a mistake in this case...do you know (gasai) what i mean? Edit 1: Wait i have an idea. i'm gonna edit the adultery thing. Edit 2: maybe there's honest mistake, dishonest mistake and intentional mistake? idk. but dishonest mistake i think of like there's a lack of intention or something. well anyway anyway just go back to the 'honest mistake' thing. when one says 'honest mistake', like what's 'dishonest mistake' then?
Nov 25, 2021 17:54
@KateBunting thanks. re 'A mistake is when you say or remember something incorrectly or take a wrong turning, for example.' --> in this case your definition of mistake = my definition of honest mistake. Edit 1: re adultery, i edited my post.
Nov 25, 2021 17:54
@EdwinAshworth what do you mean? who said anything about idioms?
