I think you should expand this answer. I don't think you have really explained your "simple reason" very well: what do you mean by "transcendental", why is goodness transcendental but not smelliness, and why does it matter to the argument?

i don't see anything wrong with what he's saying, but like i say, my java is bad
Aug 5, 2014 15:26
yeah i am reading it now
Aug 5, 2014 15:26
also my java is extremely limited
Aug 5, 2014 15:25
sorry man, i looked, but i don't think i am on the level to help you, i work in games where in general the style of development is a bit different, so you would never have a ModelConverterFactory in the first place.

i always value KISS because code that is the simplest possible solution is easy to change
Aug 5, 2014 15:18
haha, well i am spending a great deal of my time untangling abstractions recently
Aug 5, 2014 15:15
cool
Aug 5, 2014 15:15
just wanted it on the record that's all
Aug 5, 2014 15:15
i think it's up to the op to change accepted answer or voters or just leave it
Aug 5, 2014 15:14
as in basically don't do anything lol
Aug 5, 2014 15:14
well honestly I think @Ilmari Karonen's answer is the best
Aug 5, 2014 15:13
the OP was worried about DRY but in this case i think KISS is the more important value
Aug 5, 2014 15:12
it's that 1+ and the sqrt which seems suspicious to me
Aug 5, 2014 15:12
yeah no problem
Aug 5, 2014 15:11
to me even the fact that attack & defence are the same seems like a fluke
Aug 5, 2014 15:11
the abstraction is only worth doing if the method of calculation is always going to be the same
Aug 5, 2014 15:10
which to me is obviously not going to be right
Aug 5, 2014 15:09
you're assuming that hitpoints would be (1 + level + (sum of equipment)) * Math.sqrt(level)
Aug 5, 2014 15:09
not assuming anything like that
Aug 5, 2014 15:08
basically if you check out the original code there is no way that for example HITPOINTS would work in that scenario, in fact, almost nothing else would fit
Aug 5, 2014 15:08
cool
Aug 5, 2014 15:07
also: hi there
Aug 5, 2014 15:07
