Hey @Aaron, well that was a good hour spent, learning how to get PDFs into iMovie and then onto YouTube...! Here's a link to that guitar piece: youtu.be/h53ot1WoJOQ

But hey folks, maybe I should “chat” more! What do you think about these two tracks: g.co/kgs/MZpR7A

Oh dear, I wish I hadn’t entered chat now @ToddWilcox, squeaky bass pedals are in so many JB tracks, aren’t they? They really add to the character, but are so obvious if you have heard them any more than about five times...

Hey there @Aaron, I haven’t used chat for about 5 years, so don’t know if this will reach you. But just wanted to say: I noticed you joined relatively revelry and you’ve contributed some GREAT posts...

Hey everyone! Has anybody got their swag yet...?

Hey everyone - just wanted to ask something purely out of interest... A post that popped up about Just Intonation/12-TET has a detailed answer by USER1044 - which is pretty obviously Wheat Williams, who has left the site. It has turned into a Community Wiki answer - is this what happens to all posts by somebody who deletes their account?
Apr 1, 2016 00:36
Just wanted to say: thanks @Hynes
Mar 31, 2016 14:09
@Dom Ah, that's a shame. I liked his posts. Oh well...
Mar 31, 2016 11:18
Has Wheat Williams left us?!?!
Dec 30, 2015 19:05
I still try to take a look at questions and answers once a day to see what's going on - seems like we've got some good new users...
Dec 30, 2015 19:04
Good to see you got elected as a Mod - good choice considering how much you do.
Dec 30, 2015 19:04
yeah, I've not been able to use Music.SE as much recently - lots of work on. Can't complain though!
Dec 30, 2015 19:03
Hi @Dom, good to hear from you!

Hi @D

BTW, reading @WheatWilliams awesome Hexophonic Pickups answer made me think about drawing upon all of your expertise...!

Hey everyone. I used to have a Gallien Krueger 206 MLE. A small, portable guitar amp with loads of volume and functionality. I totally loved it and was pretty miffed when it got stoled from my car. I've been looking for another one for years, but Gallien Krueger stopped making guitar amps years ago and the 206 is really rare. Can anybody suggest a new amp on the market with the same volume, functionality and portability?

@JCPedroza is right in comments above - I posted a lazy answer without enough information or references - if I get time I'll post a better answer.
May 31, 2015 21:08
Hey guys, I know the answer is okay - it's just not that good - the other answer is loads better but only has 2 votes which makes mine look silly...
May 31, 2015 19:57
@JCPedroza @MeaningfulUsername, do either of you know any books by William Russo - he is listed as suggested reading by Baker - and I thought might be more what I'm looking for...
May 31, 2015 19:51
Yep - that's what I was thinking of - I think there is still a chatroom open for that which Rory opened... (it's quiet in there...)
May 31, 2015 19:49
Ha ha!
May 31, 2015 19:48
Well, it's better done in here - I sometimes get dragged into long comment exchanges instead, which doesn't work well...
May 31, 2015 19:47
To be fair - I can see why @JCPedroza was annoyed about the tone of part of my answer about bebop enclosures. But hey, there's nothing wrong with us all being on the case with checking each other's edits.
May 31, 2015 19:45
@Dom @Dom, I'm fine - I don't come in this room often - so found it interesting reading through the last 20 posts or so...!
May 31, 2015 19:44
@JCPedroza That's the thing - not really... But it has some good info about getting the most out of, say, two frontline instruments and creating lots of different textures with them - but you might get that from just looking at a whole load of two-horn charts...!
May 31, 2015 19:42
Hey @Dom, how are you?
May 31, 2015 19:40
I think I will - because like I say the Arranging book already had a couple of "lightbulb" moments for me - which kind of explained why those figures turn up all the time in Parker.
May 31, 2015 19:36
I used to use the Charlie Parker Omnibook for sight-reading practice, but I'm not really an expert on this kind of music. So just reading a couple of paragraphs in the Arranging book made me understand what's going on there a lot more...
May 31, 2015 19:34
It's just a bit of a weird book - arranging wise it mainly covers quite simple stuff that I already knew. Some of which is quite common sense (aim for variation of textures, melodic lines etc.) But the really interesting stuff is what I WASN'T looking for - which makes me think that the bebop books might be worth a look. I didn't know anything about Bebop scales until last week - now it makes perfect sense!
May 31, 2015 19:32
Yeah.
May 31, 2015 19:30
@JCPedroza It's good, but like I say, so far it doesn't have THAT much stuff about arranging - it has a lot about bebop theory and harmony.
May 31, 2015 19:29
Which is great - but I kind of wanted an arranging reference!
May 31, 2015 19:29
It starts off as an arranging book and then has several chapters about writing melodic lines - and it goes into quite a bit of theory about bebop scales and figures.
May 31, 2015 19:28
Right - I got the Kindle Arranging book.
May 31, 2015 19:27
I'll see how much they are...
May 31, 2015 19:26
Sounds interesting...
May 31, 2015 19:21
BTW, I can see why the bit you took out of my answer was a bit annoying (I got the tone wrong...), hence why I didn't rollback...
May 31, 2015 19:02
@JCPedroza, what sort of stuff is in the Bebop book you mentioned in some comments earlier? I only ask because I just discovered David Baker last week - I downloaded his "Arranging and Composing for the Small Ensemble". It's a great book, with some interesting ideas, but it's also kind of weird as it goes off on loads of tangents...
May 31, 2015 18:59
Errrrm, I just popped in to ask @JCPedroza about a David Baker book he mentioned... Feel a bit like I've entered a minefield! Anyway...

Q. What's the difference between a jazz guitarist and a rock guitarist? A. A rock guitarist plays three chords in front of thousands of people...

Aug 15, 2020 18:09
I wish I could triple-upvote this...

Mar 28, 2016 18:54
What do you mean by "signature" in this instance?

May 30, 2015 13:05
Yes, your answer looks good. As you say, there is always "wiggle-room" for different interpretations. (Unless the chord is really obvious!) I see that you haven't presumed that the first note is the bass note... TBH, I think three of our interpretations are almost exactly the same...! I thought about the Eb triad in the first chord, too...
May 30, 2015 13:05
It hasn't got a 13th. The A# should be Bb, which is a 7th.
