@ReinaldyRafli There are noiseless single coils, which can have a dummy coil to get rid of the hum. It won't sound exactly like a pure single coil either, but can be a good alternative if hum is a great issue. I don't get much problems in Sweden, but we have 50 Hz in the power lines instead of 60 (I think, there is some difference at least), which I think makes it less of an issue.
@BraddSzonye, bet @Dom gets provision from Alfred ;). Bought the blue-ish one on his recommendation, great for beginners at the keyboard, but doesn't dumb it down too much if you already know some music.
@ReinaldyRafli You can modify most humbuckers to allow for split humbuckers. (Or rather, you modify how the connection to it are set up) Most guitar repair dudes should be able to do it. If you, like me, do not use the tone control, I can recommend changing that into a split control, a so called "spin-a-split".
@JCPedroza: I think you're kinda harsh on Matthew in this case. I didn't see the discussion before it was removed, but I have been involved in discussions being removed, and mods adding a similar comment.
@RoryAlsop Interesting chart for sure. Was surprised that math was such an outlier, but when you think about it there are lots of short questions to be had in math. Also, I guess there are a lot of math tests being studied for at any given point in time...
I did refrain from editing this time, in order to not have to relive the previous discussion. I still think we could do something to avoid the itchy closing fingers. If not for Slim's edits, I think it would have been closed. It might still be closed, even though Slim's answer is providing good information.
I still think most of the bad cases will be caught by the base rules that apply for all SE:s. I was only referring to chucking the rules invented here, mostly by people who has now left.
I think some of the identification question should be off topic, like "what's this track I heard ten years ago". I think there's a way of doing so, while not having everything off topic, in unor's answer.
This is a forming community; a lot of the people who where here in the beginning are now gone. Maybe people are starting to see that the knee-jerk "make up all kinds of rules is the basis of all SE:s" isn't working so great for all SE:s...
Schönberg is a name to check out, but the body of work is impressive, so it's hard to get a handle. I bought a box with quartets by him, Webern and Alban Berg, so I have some starting point.
